I feel that gaming really died once personalities like Geoff entered the scene, obvious non-gamers trying desperately to be relevant and position video games as some Oscar-worthy industry, all in the typical ironic Californian style. I never once cared for this guy or any of his sham award shows, yet he represents modern gaming perfectly. Is it no wonder that he sips martinis with the likes of Hideo Kojima and Neil Druckmann?, living it up while pretending everything is a-okay and that the next hit game is right around the corner?.

The industry isn't in a decline, it's already collapsed. There isn't a damn thing releasing in the next 12-18 months that will be worth a damn, and he knows it.

Geoff Keighley has been around since the late 1990s, although it's only in recent years that he's become so prominent. He isn't exactly a non-gamer, more like a veteran game journalist who grew up to become a hack. The "Behind The Games" articles he wrote for GameSpot back in the day were pretty decent.

But unlike Comic-Con or E3, Summer Game Fest and the Game Awards are owned, operated, and hosted by one person: Geoff Keighley, a 45-year-old Canadian journalist and Muppet enthusiast with a penchant for tailored dinner jackets.

I hate everyone in this entire industry.
What's the problem? This is the video game superbowl, only there's no pretense of watching a competition, everyone here is here for the commercials.

With a $250k trailer budget I can make a game that will shame the entire industry. I'm not even joking, it's entirely doable.

The modern games industry is just a bunch of crackwhores. Everyone with talent either left or are just coasting.

$250k is the price of airtime. They have to spend additional money to make the thing.

They had the same pricing during the VGAs, but no one complained back then.

Imagine paying something like that to reach viewers who have the poor taste to actually watch one of these things seriously.

These people have too much money.

It costs $7 million for airtime during the Superbowl. Supply and demand. The show can only be so long and there are more people with potential game trailers than there is room, so money is the great gatekeeper.

I'm getting a really good feeling about this years Summer Game Fest. I anticipate it revitalizing an industry that has been plauged with corporate greed and layoffs. It's time to enter a new era of gaming.

It will be absolute dogshit, but I'll have it in the background for Kingdom Come 2, and Metaphor Refantazio.
