Does anyone else miss old necro? I never cared much for minion builds (in this or other games), but as a caster, you couldn't beat summoning up Forgery of Haze and then dual-blasting everything that came near you with huge damage. If you went lich (and especially if you had Eden's Guile and used it beforehand), you could do a ridiculous amount of damage before your forgery went away.

I am currently playing as the Temporal Warden myself on nightmare. Didn't apreciate the playstyle back then but now i am loving it.
Hit 'em from afar, teleport in for some melee asswooping and teleport out the moment you face any issues like too many rares, 100 debuffs or responsibilities.

So far i avoided any deaths thanks to the girlish playstyle of scouting with precognition and not abusing auto-explore. Fitting that the most suitable race for TW is shaloren.
It was close a few times like the one in which i encountered 4 rare trolls and gunsnake at the same time right after entering location. That sun paladin escort should have learned dimensial step.

TW was my favourite character thus far. I enjoyed archer a lot too (prior to unlocking TW) as you can "safely" attack from afar, but TW is like an archer with cool spells/talents + melee capabilities.

I endured the prides and just got my nighmare win as the Temporal Warden. Only died twice and both times it was at the hands of randoms.

Yeah, the most fun parts are early to mid game when your build isn't complete yet. After that gameplay turns into you using the same abilities in the same order over and over again until you stamble into rare/elite who has just the right set of abilities against you.
Playing age of ascendancy campaign to completion more than one time is not worth it.

The prides are notoriously unnecessary, yes. Instead of the new content he is working on being a substitute for early game, it would've been better had it been a substitute for the East. Or just overhaul the East at one point ;d

Currently on the quest to try all the classes i neglected so far, starting with Anorithil.
Highlights of the class include:
-AoE, lots of it. You love being in the middle of the crowd.
-Lack of scouting abilities. But you can set up a jumpgate point towards which you can teleport instantly provided you're not too far away.
-Create a shadow clone of your enemy
-Chants and Hymns, keep forgetting that with a little investment they remove debuffs and grant shield or movement infusion effect when you switch them.
-Circle spells, three of which are instant to cast. Funny effect against certain enemies when you put all 4 of them at once.
Not my favourite playstyle but i see the appeal.

I beat the master on my Higher lightning (cool but kinda boring compared to ice) Archmage and unlocked Ghoul though it was only NM adventure mode. I wanted skelleton since I want to recreate my old WoW UD frost mage in TOME. :happytrollboy:

Edit: Just found a bug. I tried out the "See the Threads" Paradox Mage spell for an escort mission and it bugged my escort. I am not sure if it is because of the timeline 3 I chose but I have now 2! unmoving Defiler escorts that just stand there doing nothing. I did tell the Defiler to wait prior to using the spell. So if anyone is tempted to use this cool spell, beware when doing escorts.

Edit 2: Alright I "bumped" Xath the Defiler around a little and she started to move. Maybe the length of "wait" differs from escort to escort? Defiler seemed to wait a very long time.

Edit 3: The second defiler still stands around doing nothing.

Edit 4: Bumping the second Defiler into the escape circle gave me the reward a second time. That was hilarious but won't do it again. Feels like an exploit, I was just curious if it would work. Was annoying to bump her all through the level. Wait, she still stands around. Dont tell me you can get endless rewards from that. Alright no, just had to bump her again and she disappeared.
:drink:

Wait until you get hounds. Those are fun, though I have not figured out how to build around them properly yet. Planning to redo my TW and get the hounds at 10 right away. Or use Cornac and get them at lvl 1.

Me feels all three of the TW locked class trees are viable picks at level 10 though.

[Threaded combat] gives you an extra teleport early on a class that loves teleports. And you will want to invest in the last talent later anyway.
[Stasis] gives you a good shield for the contingency talent.
And hounds obviously give you pets.
In case i end up playing TW again i would try going [Temporal Hounds] as the first one and [Threaded Combat] as the second one., sacrificing [Stasis].

"See the Threads"
This spell, lol
It broke my UI once.
Edit: On the other hand, what else can you expect from spell that breaks the timeline itself?

On my way to the master on NM/roguelike instead of adventure mode on my skeleton water/ice archmage and got to 25. Now the tough decision what prodigy to take, getting to choose between Aether Permeation, Hidden Resources or Thaumaturge. All are enticing tbh.
Got the level up from that stupid banshee boss btw. For some reason, I could hardly ever counter her 6 turn silence with my torque. :argh:

Nothing in sight for the Lost Lands expansion yet after nearly three years but he's still working on it and posting stuff on discord from time to time.

Mostly images and bits of lore lately with this one being the most memorable of what I saw.

Tried to run a Corrupter 4 times, but I always die by the hands of the Master. I steamroll through everything up until that point.

Will try a necromancer, has many talent trees so this might be hard.

That's a boss I've always beat BUT it takes me ages of going up the previous level and back down as he puts up bone shield and then I'm fucked. Lots of patience. I had the easiest time against him with the Temporal Warden though, maybe thanks to the future wardens who come in to shoot at the same time and thus breaking down his bone shield.

I never quite liked Forgery of Haze. Felt like cheating, and a true Lich needs no minions or cheap tricks as he is a master of magic all by himself!
I did run a cold-based lich a while ago and had little issue clearing the game on Nightmare with it. (Except Kryl-Feijan, cause fuck that place when you don't have the necessary tools to deal with it just yet) Still one of my favorite casters to play.

Yeah, lake of nur boss is a pain in the ass for certain classes.
Struggling myself to beat this fellow as a higher corruptor on nightmare. Thinking that instead of relying on stair dancing i should just leave and get a few more levels.

It's basically an inscription slot tax. You need to get the Dissipation rune from the 'Save Derth' quest, which disables its zillion sustains. And then you'll pretty much never need to use it again until you face the final bosses (but you can't unequip it in the meantime because lol only one copy).

It's pretty bullshit.

Consider entering the fortress early and come back a few levels later (although lake of nur itself can be a handful at lower levels). Also the Rune of Dissipation is pretty clutch throughout the game. Almost all problematic fixed bosses (and a fair few random ones) use arcane sustains.

Dissipation rune
To be fair, it's a very a good rune. Many of the rare mobs were rendered impotent by it.

In retrospect i should have probably floated a few skill points around. Invested a bit more into corrupted negation specifically for that boss so that two can properly play the game of "i remove your bone shield".

Some other classes i neglected so far and tried a bit more indepth.
Yeti Bulwark. Hard to pick a class i consider my favourite but this fellow made me realise that the ones with the "passive" playstyle are definitely my least favourite ones.
Orc Annihilator. Ironically all of the expansion races feel suboptimal for tinkers other than sawbutcher. Adore the main gimmick with the heavy weapons. Turrets are strong early and useful for corner sniping but seems to become more fragile as things go on. All unlockable trees appear to be useful.
Thalore Cursed. Not as passive as bulwark, but... also not my favourite playstyle. Will give it another shot later.
Higher Corruptor, already mentioned. Brainstorming the best approach to lake of nur boss, my only roadblock so far.
Dwarf Possessor, current donator priveliege. What an awesome concept and by gods do i suck as possessor. The only class that has consumables, thanks to this you can screw yourself over by mismanaging your resources and running out of bodies. Very dependant on finding compatible rare mobs.
Dwarf Stone Warden, used to be a donator class before possessor. You would think that dwarf with two shields would be passive and uber defensive but the amount of hurt this guy dishes out is ridiculous. It's also interesting that some of the abilities change depending on which of the dwarven subraces are you. I am going for the irresistable sun + Dwarfen Nature combo.
Skeleton Arcane Blade. Appears to be more flexible than i remember and i like the "burst" playstyle. As much as i don't like the skeleton talent tax, it is a perfect race for AB. You have some choices when it comes to a preferable weapon setup and even a choice of light or heavy armor thanks to a certain sustain.
Still don't consider myself to be very good at this and i already played ToME more than Skyrim, help me!

I see some increased interests in the game from the Codexers. Interesting but nice. And a nice game, I spent hundreds of hours on it a couple of years ago.
