Before I risk dying, if I enter Damp Cave in the Old Forest, can I get out or is it one of those areas where there's no coming back unless you clear the place? This area never showed up for me in Old Forest before, but I'm having a good streak don't want to lose a life in there.

Isn't there literally one, max two, place(s) where you can't use the recall rod from? One of them is the hardest book from Forbidden Cults and the second is maybe the temporal distortion in Daikara.

What permadeath setting do you guys use?

Sometimes you can be randomly crit by attack or spell from random critters.

Adventure mode. Roguelike requires specific classes and builds.
Not really in the sense that you can finish the game in roguelike mode with any class - at least on lower difficulties. However You probably meant: to have an enjoyable, instead of frustrating, experience on roguelike you need specific classes/builds. Then i agree.

More like a consistent experience. You could theoretically beat the game with any class on roguelike, but it won't be consistent and it would require quite a lot of RNG going your way.

My archer dead - in Dreadfall. Pretty happy with this run though, unlocked Yeek and Temporal Warden (both look pretty cool, might go for a Yeek Temporal Warden next if I can get the hang of it) and furthest I've gotten (cleared Tier 1 and 2, Tempest Peak, Temporal Rift, and Lake of Nur). With 40 hours in the past 2 weeks I think I need a break :)

Yay! One of us, one of us! Glad you're having fun. I don't have all them fancy buttons you oldfags can press, so here's a celebratory .gif:

(also, Temporal Wardens are indeed very cool)

Which mods do you guys use?

I have Zomnibus + all the mods by Deo

Lacrymas
I just have zomnibus, but some of the first few UI mods seem interesting: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2395209373

Might try out a few later today.

EDIT: just realised those are by Deo - will get them now!

EDIT2: How did you get Show items tier in inventory to work? Do you need to turn on a setting? It's "activated" in the add ons in-game, but my inventory is not sorted by tier and the tiers don't show in the columns.

This mod does not come with configurable game options. Did you start a new character?

Ah right - I tried using the same char.

In other news, TW rocks!! I've quickly breezed to level 21. Dreadfall is very close again... Any tips on how to prepare myself? Minimum level + resistances?

Zomnibus and some escort qol mod that make them less retarded and regen a bit of HP out of combat. And some combat log separator mod.

For what it's worth, my characters are usually in their mid-twenties by the time I enter Dreadfell. Aside from that the dungeon itself isn't that bad, though it is rather long, and the Master can prove a bit of a roadblock.

– Beware of vaults. Seriously.
– Get a teleport rune if you don't already have one.
– Get a lot of resistances against stun, cold, and freeze.
– When facing The Master, I prefer to take care of his minions before shifting my focus to him; they can be nastly little buggers.
– Dig a good old zig-zag tunnel? That way you can maneuver to fight him or his minions one on one. It's a bit gamey perhaps, but I've always found the idea very funny.
– The Master doesn't heal (though his minions can heal him, unless I'm partially mistaking him with another boss), so retreating momentarily is a viable strategy.

Thanks a lot man, I appreciate it! In the meantime I went into the Mark of the Spellblaze and got my ass handed to me by the boss - blight stacking damage. There was nowhere to run since you're teleported to another plane. I can see why you need to die and restart many times - now I know I need to stock up on blight and disease resistance items on my eventual next run.

Anyway, I've moved to Dreadfall and I'm at level 5 or so. Going smoothly.

This TW is my favourite class by far! Melee, archery and cool talents! Managed to unlock ogre, got 3 out of 4 necro lore pieces, and saved a damsel in distress. I'm hooked.

The teleportation to another plane thing is an ability Doombringers have, the best way to deal with it imo is to line of sight the enemy until the spell duration runs out. You are at a huge disadvantage in there and iirc the caster heals himself in it, so doing damage is a bit pointless.

Blink rune you mean?

Oh damn, yes, good catch. Sorry, should have checked what I wrote before pressing 'reply'.

/e: while I'm here, what would you guys say is your favorite race/class combination? I'm gonna start another character in a week or so, and am looking for ideas.

Ogre Writhing One. I've always liked the idea of a melee character being helped by summons and this is that.
