It's like asking "what's the best game?". There're simply too many different porn-games and just as with regular games, 99% of them are irredeemable, absolutely worthless shit. If you not familiar with https://f95zone.to/ - I'd recommend go check it out, there're tons of filters for search. Depends on what you're into.
As for specific ones since I'm playing these for some time now I'd say check the most popular first, like: Being a DIK (fun VN from supposedly Sweden guy about American college life), Treasure of Nadia (kinda retarded game but as a first one has top production qualities in the genre atm).
I prefer art-games over these DAZ 3d model stuff however, there's a actually somewhat well-written VN Sanguine Rose. There's also a very popular silly game Summertime Saga which making on patreon 68k$/month.
Few "trainer games": Something Unlimited (parody based on Justice League), Four Elements trainer (parody based on Avatar: the last airbender/Korra)
Dark Star, Dungeon&Maid and now Alien Quest Eve - short and fun platformers.
And of course there's a whole j/j-like games world which I'm not exactly familiar with but if you're into hentai - it's insanely big to explore.

It is a relatively traditional Japanese visual novel? I'm not sure if it's a good idea to include visual novels on the poll, since we have other threads on this forum dedicated exclusively to visual novels. Adding everyone's favorite visual novels to the poll would make it needlessly long. I don't consider games like Sengoku Rance and Kamidori Alchemy Meister traditional visual novels, since their gameplay has considerable strategic depth and doesn't consist exclusively of browsing through dialogue boxes.
This is merely my personal opinion and I'm open to suggestions. We can also add a few more traditional visual novels to the poll if there's considerable demand for it.

I would say games like monster girl quest paradox and Lily Knight Saga qualify as good games by gameplay alone in their respective genre, though admittedly they are the exceptions rather than the norm.
Also many porn games are fan games with a bit of extra flavor. For example, Evening Starter by Barony Sengia is a homage to old SMT games (devil summoner in particular) with a lovecraftian spin, and to me it definitely feels more SMTish than Persona 3 and 4 combined; My Secret Summer Vacation by 幼心の君に is basically a naughtier version of the popular Japanese psp game Boku no Natsuyasumi (a.k.a My Summer Vacation), and manages to achieve a great atmosphere of nostalgia despite being a porn game. And of course there is a ton of DQ fan games on dlsite, and at least a couple of them are fairly decent.

- Very nice audiovisual presentation. Detailed character models and excellent animations. Lively and upbeat music that's suitable for a lighthearted anime adventure. No voice acting.
- The game has a day and night cycle and the locales can look really beautiful depending on the time of day. Watching a sunset on a sandy beach is genuinely an awe-inspiring experience. Lighting overall is done really well.
- Erotic scenes use in-game 3D character models and are very well-crafted. Excellent, smooth animations. If you like the art style, you can easily fap to this stuff.
- I didn't try the game in VR, but I'm sure the erotic scenes would be awesome in VR.
- The game seems to be somewhat lacking content. The story mode progresses really slowly. There are only a couple of things to do during each day. Exploration is very limited and not rewarded.
- Getting from one erotic scene to another takes 1-2 hours.
- The quest design and gameplay overall are pretty horrendous. You are asked to collect 5 crabs, then 5 logs, then 8 slimes etc. to get an erotic scene as a reward. Classic Pavlovian stuff. Your saliva will be running when the bell rings in no time.
- Other than collecting 10 bear asses, you're expected to play some simple minigames, walk around at an excruciatingly slow pace and talk to some rather bland NPCs.
- There's a story that might get interesting further down the road, but the game is still in development and the story is not finished.
- If the overall gameplay was better, I'd be tempted to give this game a perfect 5/5 Fappability rating. Unfortunately the repetitive tasks you're expected to perform in order to get to the erotic scenes take away part of the enjoyment.

I remember Bunny Black 1/2 being pretty decent tactical game with 18+ content.
Moero Chronicles is an interesting wizardy (kindoff) dungeon crawler with erotic story/gameplay (can be found on steam).
Also should mention Something Unlimited but its more of superheroines manager/collection game that will, i hope, get some interesting gameplay/story in the future.

Exact reason why I don't get a VR headset. That looks insanely good.
Already hard enough to stay fit during vacations/breaks from school. I'd end up being one of those sad motherfuckers that jerks off all day to hentai porn if I ever got a VR headset.
