The Atelier series

since the latest game is gacha and they said it's a mainline entry, is this series dead?

This is an accurate reproduction of me and my friend's reactions when we went through the Steam page for it recently:

I had somehow completely missed any info about it being a gacha and was under the impression it was just another new game. "oh they brought back Shallie, that's cool but kind of odd", then seeing 'collectathon' in the tags, the mention about in-game purchases, and the rusty cogs in my brain putting the pieces together.

I would honestly be surprised if there isn't a new, non-gacha mainline game. Didn't all of the Ryza games do really well by Atelier standards?

Yeah, and we also just had the Marie remake. I can see KT greenlighting Sophie 3 and an Elie remake based on the positive reception so far.

Did they unfuck Esty's name in that game? Because I saw Cuderia's name is still "Cordelia" taken from the NISA shit translation, but it only shows the first name on character page.

monsters raep my party in the middle of chapter 2 because i don't even have a healer(thanks, gacha) and available items are just meh. constantly running below recommended power level. shallie is the most useful character so far because of her aoe stun tho i need to boost her speed because half of the monsters are now getting turns before she can act.

oh, whatever. who even need healers. replaced one of the attackers with marion. she's fast and usually stun one of the monsters right from the start. then it's just focusing them one by one.

I honestly wonder if brain damage is a requirement for game developers sometimes. What kinds of retards think 1% of 20 and 100% more of 2000 is an appropriate way to scale modifiers as a character levels up? But you see this shit everywhere. ARPGs have been ruined by lifeleech scaling this way for like 30 years now. MMOs keep needing to do massive overhauls to curb power creep because their talent trees give you 2% of nothing at level 10 and 200% of infinity and level 60. It's just fucking everywhere, it's like they all have keyboards with the % key next to and stuck to the enter key or something.

my only hope that gust working on proper mainline title so that's why there is no gust logo...

In the meantime, I finished Atelier Sophie, not a bad game, certainly appreciate the expanded crafting system, though I didn't it expect it to be that long - took me about 67 hours to beat it, without post game (though partially I myself am at fault here, because I was playing around with the crafting system, trying to get the best modifiers on weapons and stuff). That said, there is a drawback compared to Ayesha, and that lies within the characters. I didn't care for any of them, it's as if devs weren't even trying to make them even a tiny bit likeable. They even look like some stupid anime clowns this time, whereas in Ayesha they were really stylish, visual style in Ayesha was better as well. When I finished Ayesha, I felt a bit sad and out of place because I had to leave those characters behind and move on, but after Sophie there was nothing like that. Decent game definitely, but forgettable, even considering how much fun I had with crafting. Now I'm playing Rorona.

What the fuck is this "feature" where screenshots taken with Steam have a watermark in the bottom left? And it doesn't save the uncompressed version, and nvidia overlay does not capture the window either. Fuck Unity for making this shit possible.

There is a Gust logo on the title screen though.
