New game and it's not a gacha. In an attempt to pander to 45 year old men who think they're little girls at heart, there's now a decorating feature. In a similar fashion, the frame per second rate seems to be a silky smooth constant 5 fps.
Hopefully the fps issue won't touch people who are going to play this game on the other platforms this game is releasing on, like PC, PS5, and... XBox?
The synthesis system is new, as one would expect. No cauldron this time (though I think it's fair to assume there will be some cauldron-like thing for synthesis access), and the synthesis itself is, like, floating in front of her, similar to a mental representation. Difficult to say if the combat is turn based or real time, but in the video she's always fighting alone and does a fairly impressive job at it: she can use her staff to beat things up, but if she flips it around, it's a firearm.
The new girl's design is overall vaguely Bayonetta-ish: she's clearly a mature protagonist (probably going to be in her 30s since the VA is not doing an anime girl voice) and she's wearing high heels that have some sort of motif that I have a hard time understanding. Compared to Ryza, she feels less fanservice-y, though you can already find hundreds of retard screaming "coomer bait" if you google info about this game.
Early 2025 release date.
Game's official website is https://atelier.games/yumia/jp/ and they're promising an update on September 2nd. Start practicing semen retention NOW
I'm a hag-respecter, but no way, that is very much still an anime girl voice. Early 20s at most.(probably going to be in her 30s since the VA is not doing an anime girl voice)
Overdesigned outfits, oversaturated colors, and naked skin on feet are critically important.I don't understand why they didn't do another game like Dusk with its more mature tone (not this overdramatized shounen anime screaming), refined artstyle (instead of these plastick anime faces and ridiculous overdesigned outfits and oversaturated colors), and male protagonist.

Marie might as well be a game developed by an alien civilization. Time limits, CYOA elements, Bach music? Gust used to be really out there.
By anime standards that is grandma territory.Early 20s at most.
I believe it's fairer to say Gust has a number of staple features they mix and match, like the type of alchemy, time limits, the size and number of maps, TB, the way to acquire equipment, back row in combat, etc.Marie might as well be a game developed by an alien civilization. Eh, I don't think it's that simple. Atelier was a niche franchise until a few years after Koei Tecmo bought Gust.
Time limits weren't removed until Shallie. Then the time limit was brought back for Firis, then removed again for the last game (Lydie & Suelle) in the Mysterious trilogy. The soundtrack is still customisable as far as I know.
I mean, we got Sophie 2 recently and it was a great game. Not sure if Sophie is still the most popular protagonist or if Ryza took the first place from her now.Is the era of petite Atelier protagonists over? Is it just big and fat thighs from here on out?
Longer gameplay video from the website:
Some takeaways:
Movement and gathering looks even more freeform than in Ryza, you move quick and have lots of verticality.
The field synthesis shown before is a 'simple synthesis' that can be done anywhere, normal synthesis is still done at specific locations.
The building system is pretty robust, video demos setting up a whole building out in the field. Much more than just decorating a room. Not sure if it's a build-anywhere system or only in certain spots. Also not clear what the gameplay point is, or if it's just there to soothe your autism.
Seems to run pretty well.
The synthesis OST is real smooth.
