yeah, that's why he said semi-randomly, I would not complain if he got something shitty like chain lightning or conjure elemental instead of the most busted spell you don't even have acess to.
can't u kill him with normal weapons then?
I believe last time I played yeah he had that, but outlasting wasn't big deal and isn't Secret Word enough to dispel?
for all SCS boosts, the actual vanilla tools against mages like throwing level 1 dogs and aoe fireball wands still work.
degenerate gameplay > genius designers.

My opinion on SCS has changed over time, maybe it's because SCS has changed though. It makes the battles too formulaic, as if I'm finding myself doing the same things over and over frequently. I think one of the things I dislike the most is that all mages you fight against end up feeling almost the same rather than having a personality to the abilities they use.
catching invisible melf meteor hasted assholes does get tiresome when you see it for 20th time yea.
also when ai behaves obviously like ai, counting microseconds between throwing said meteors and recasting protections it breaks immersion.
it would be neat if depending on type casters did something different when low on spells or hp. like evokers trying to fireball themselves and your party together screaming dying curses.
is still best mod thing that ever happened to BG tho.

possibly

That's more or less the solution, gulping speed oil and fuck off until it dispel. That or wand and potion of fireball spam, zs you pointed out. Still find this a shame that you're basically forced to cheese, the goal is to make fight more interesting, not more cheesy.
isn't Secret Word enough to dispel
nah, it only work on spell protection against spell, not "physical" protection

I deativated it, I'm not autistic enoughto do it myself, and I sure don't want to see this retardation on my opponent.

Oh right it's spell protections; well it should help with Globe, and thus push through maybe something dumb or counter meta like Blindness.

Yeah if he doesn't have spell protections then spamming blindness with 2 or 3 casters, ideally with malison/doom/chant/etc nerfing his saves, you'll get him in a round or two.

He's got a save of two against spell, and I'm pretty sure you also need to dispell miror image. Doable, but a round or two is fabulously optimist.

edit: also malison and secret word 4th level spell and you probably don't get a scroll for them before entring baldur's gate.

Still browsing them mods, and there are apparently more UI overlay projects, apart from the spell menu mod mentioned few pages ago.
They seem to be related to EEex - EE executable injector, like TobEX for the originals. There aren't many mods based on it, all seem to be UI centered, with a honorable mention of some EET-IWD compatibility thingie.

Prepare for gimmicks!
For instance, this is supposedly available in EEex right off the bat:

And this:

Here is a mod that changes your game into Gatefinder: Baldurmaker (BG2 Radar Overlay, unrelated to EEex it seems?):

For dessert, some game bending experiments from EEex beamdog thread, AKA Modders Gonna Mod:

Modders can now fiddle with adding new skills:

Also, seems like non-EE BG2 got some UI love via TobEX relatively recently too (end of 2020).
BG2 Improved GUI
Dunno if this was already mentioned or not, but some options look really fucking sweet. Innate ability description on right click? Damn! Spell overlay UI and a bunch of other nice stuff to boot.

Further exciting updates from my " saga of the Sword Coast"

My party is mostly on level 5 and every combat is fun and high level enemies mean I need to be strategic in certain battles

For example I cleared Nashel Mines but the end boss battle with Mulahey was giving me problems because he was able to Hold Person my fighters and then kobolds and skeletons spawn and the small size of the room made AOE spells impact my own party so I adopted a "think out the box approach " (I do find it annoying when enemies appear out of nowhere but I understand the developers have to create a challenge for these types of battles )

I used invisibility on my Wizard and made him wait outside the room, when the kobolds started spawning I was able to effectively use Color Spray to neutralize most of them and not harm my party. My fighters were still held by Hold Person but my archers were able to kill Mulahey but it was very close with everyone having less than 6 HP before he was killed

And then Viconia has joined me, I was outraged that the Flaming Fist wanted to kill her. I am chivalrous person and always help a " damsel in distress ". I did lose 2 reputation points for this but sitting at the campfire and seeing that dusky and seductive beauty across from me mitigates that reputational damage

Sadly I had to remove the sanctimonious Jaheira without losing the combat skills of Khalid which meant she had to die. But I couldnt kill her the way others suggested by using Khalid, thats fundamentally a contravention of my glowie code and Im all about the feeeelz. So I sent her fully equipped alone to fight packs of wolves and wild dogs and she didnt fight back. Jaheira loves nature so being devoured by animals just seemed fitting and humane :salute:

And in the afterlife I believe Jaheria will approve because Viconia is a redemption story and its about Romance which she wanted for me anyway so I dont feel guilty at all

I am now looking for the bandit camps and exploring the Wood of Sharp Teeth

My journeys continue in the " saga of the Sword Coast "

Im deep in the Cloakwood Forest and having Imoen and detect traps is a huge benefit around avoiding spider web traps

I also had an epic final battle around my Vienxay mod NPC quest which culminates in the Cloakwood Forest where you confront her former mistress, Luna, a powerful Shadowmage and her apprentices. Very hard to defeat Luna with all her summoning spells and apprentices so I had to be strategic

I used Silence 15 Radius on her to stop her casting more spells after the initial spells and then used my Wand of Fear to confuse her summoned elementals and then I ran away and she chased me but her apprentices stayed behind because they were using shadow magic

But once I separated Luna from the group I was able to kill her and then I returned to kill the rest

I am about to enter the Cloakwood Mines, exciting times

Vienxay mod NPC (...) Luna, a powerful Shadowmage
Tells you pretty much everything about the mod quality
Oh something else funny, you were right. I did misunderstand what a glowie meant. I thought it meant you dont say offensive things about people which I generally dont

But it means you a CIA agent pretending not to be or something similar so I wont be using it anymore to describe myself
