Well fuck this. For some reason the original trilogy added to the 2004 game runs way too fast for me. I guess I'm going to have to use abandonware sites?
Well, inxile finally posted about this on the forums. It looks like the remasters are going to be a no go. Bummer, that's the reason i backed BT4, wasn't really interested in a more modernized BT.
Eh, can't we just get a remaster? Must she really "ENHANCE" the game by adding lame jokes like "Who you gonna call? Magicbusters!" everywhere?
It's a crime and these guys should be prosecuted for false advertising.
I really wonder about Fargo and whether he knows Jack. Maybe he just managed to work with gifted people and took the praise.
His defining legacy should be The Bards Tale live action game - stinking manure that it is.
Many people bought the stinking turd mentioned above only to access the original trilogy.
Many people invested in BT4 because they wanted a remastered original trilogy.
Just pay the lady now and spread some goodwill.
For some reason it's pretty damned impossible to get proper RPG made these days. I can't even explain why and games like Witcher 3 win some stupid awards on the Codex of all places for being RPG Hall of Fame.
For those people who want to support proper RPG goodness I recommend
Lord of Xulima (mixed kebab - fully satisfying)
Might and Magic X - Legacy (a bit short)
Swords and Sorcery - Underworld - DEFINITIVE EDITION (a bit save scum required)
BT4 probably won't match any of these shining examples of proper HARDCORE rpg.
Choice is always welcome, the abandonware websites aren't going nowhere.Good fucking riddance?
Could be... Fargo and Becky have a history of drama with each other. From what I understand one of Becky's specialties is porting games. My guess (without any insider info) is that there politics / personality clash going on here.
On one had it's cool to see inXile referencing my show, on the other I'm bummed by this turn of events.
Becky's side was that it was just finished and she was awaiting payment. Maybe it will get sorted out in the end.

Judging by Brother None's mention of inXile supplying "QA resources", I'm thinking maybe they didn't agree that it was finished.
If you're a BT4 backer you can get an emulated version from inxile that's basically just the dos versions using dosbox with a customized menu.Well fuck this. For some reason the original trilogy added to the 2004 game runs way too fast for me. I guess I'm going to have to use abandonware sites?
Congratulations people, it took you almost 2 years to fail to deliver a goddamn port of an 80's RPG. BRAVO.

Says the company that just cut like a dozen stretch goals... things that people PAYED for.Judging by Brother None's mention of inXile supplying "QA resources", I'm thinking maybe they didn't agree that it was finished.
Bard's Tale remastered trilogy will be finished, Olde Skuul boss says
By Andy Chalk 5 hours ago
InXile expressed serious doubts about the updated trilogy yesterday, but Rebecca Heineman says it's going to happen.
It came to light yesterday that work on the remastered Bard's Tale trilogy, offered as a backer reward in the 2015 Bard's Tale 4 Kickstarter, had apparently stopped. A message on inXile's forums said the studio believes that "it's unlikely that Olde Skuul will finish development on the BT remasters," and mention of the trilogy had thus been removed from the Bard's Tale 4 backer's site. But Olde Skuul boss Rebecca Heineman said the message was a surprise to her, and that she still has every intention of finishing and releasing the games.
Heineman said the delay in the remastering process was simply a matter of money: "I asked inXile for a payment for work done to date, they declined, I had to take a paying gig. Simple as that," she explained. "They will [be completed]. The Bard's Tale trilogy is my baby. Especially Bard's Tale 3. I want the game to be finished, because I want to play it."
Heineman, who programmed Bard's Tale 3 and also has design and map-making credits—thus her strong connection to that game in particular—said she'd like to make an arrangement to release the remastered trilogy herself, and will provide the promised keys to Bard's Tale 4 backers with or without inXile's support. But in spite of the current disconnect, that may not be necessary: In a statement, inXile appeared to leave the status of the remastered trilogy—and the prospect of a happy ending—entirely up to Olde Skuul.
"Our original discussions with Olde Skuul had them delivering the remastered version in September of 2015. In our correspondence, we agreed that payment would be on completion of the final product," the studio said. "As time passed, test builds stopped getting sent, and emails were ignored, we eventually lost faith in their ability to deliver the remasters. We would love to see The Bard’s Tale Trilogy Remastered completed and hope they can bring these classics to today’s machines."
InXile recently released a first look at Bard's Tale 4 combat, and even though it's early it looks quite promising. Check it out here.
It's been some time since we last checked in on Olde Sküül's updated version of the Bard's Tale I-III classic games, which Rebecca Heineman offered to do during the initial Bard's Tale IV Kickstarter campaign. Though these were not part of our initial Kickstarter rewards or stretch goals, we know that many of you have been excited about seeing this bonus offer. Olde Sküül has continued development on them in-house over the last several months, and they've provided a progress update on the project to let you all know how they've been shaping up and what they expect their remaining development timeline to be. To check it out, please click on the following link!
As fans ourselves, we want these remasters to be great updates to the classic games and we wish Olde Sküül the best in their efforts. But of course, in addition to the BT Remastered bonus that Becky and Olde Sküül continue to work on, we've already provided backers with the promised emulated versions of the classic games (complete with .pdfs of the original manuals). Though many of you have already downloaded them, they're currently down on account of our backer site moving over to CrowdOx. However, they will be available again soon for everyone once the move to CrowdOx has been completed!
YesIs everybody at Olde Sküül a tranny?
