(except that huge dragon on that bridge, I tried to cheese-shoot him with hundreds of arrows, but it was a borefest and I gave up).

I've read that they added regeneration to the bridge dragon to avoid such cheap tactics.

Did it two weeks ago. It's still in.

In other news, the Darkwraith armor and sword is fucking awesome. Especially love the move set on the Darksword. The Dark hand is fun too, but I have to choose if I want to use it as a shield or if I want to suck humanities, which kind of sucks. Taking another item as a shield isn't really an option here because then I won't have optimal roll speed.

farm the darkwraiths for another dark hand and equip it as a backup righthand weapon? it's not a particularly rare drop, and you'll get a sweet amount of titanite chunks in the process (and if you're lucky even a slab) :)

btw, there are 2 relatively easy strategies to take out the dragon even at lower levels: 1) get on the stairs so that you can see the dragon, shoot him with an arrow, quickly swap to your most damaging weapon, run to where the dragon will land and smack him in the face then run back below deck. rinse repeat. if you managed to snag the claymore (or another weapon with a nice vertical swing) under his nose this can end relatively quickly once you get a feel for the timing and positioning, the red tearstone ring also helps. 2) MAGIC! stand all the way in the corner under the bridge, near where the rats are; take your aim (unlocked) with regular soul arrows, kill him with heavy/great soul arrows; it'll be much quicker if you snag the dusk crown and bellowing ring (and oolacile catalyst if your int is less than 27 :)) and/or if you manage to time your arrows so they land just as he lands for critical damage

Some update on my let's fail playthrough: I finally managed to kill the Taurus Daemon.

:yeah:

After that, I didn't have so many problems actually (except that huge dragon on that bridge, I tried to cheese-shoot him with hundreds of arrows, but it was a borefest and I gave up). I killed another 2 Dead/Black Knights without dying once, yay. I also killed those 2 Gargoyles on my second attempt, yay, oh and this huge demon right before the forest area was slain aswell. Then I walked a bit into that forest, did a stupid mistake and actually farmed those 20k souls to get this key from the blacksmith - I later realized this is just a shortcut and the souls were wasted. Died to those forest guardians there anyway. :D Then I grabbed the elite knight armor set and reinforced it to +5, the same with the winged spear. Normal enemies are easy pie at the moment, but that Goat Demon miniboss in the deeper Undead Burg is giving me headache (the one that comes with those 2 undead dogs or whatever they are). They immedieately rush into me as soon as I walk through the fog wall and slug away all my stamina making it easy to hit me through the shield. :( Will try it out soon again, I saw some stairs in the back, maybe I can walk up there without the demon following me. Great game!

Dragon heals. Key is for farming. Exactly as said above!

Farm the final area for titanite chunk drops, not Darkwraiths.

So how to defeat the Dragon? He is too powerful. :(

Pull him with an arrow, roll behind leg with two-handed sword, repeatedly bash his heels.

Run down stairs.

Repeat.

Also, may be a bug, but if you run past him, he disappears!

not a bug. he just flies away (you can clearly see him doing so)

btw, i think smacking in the head once and running under the stairs is a safer tactic, but probably a bit more time consuming :). video:

nah, DWs are better because they have a chance of dropping Slabs, i get more chunks/minute than the BKs a

Uh, guys, is that video representative of the quality of combat we should expect from Dark Souls? Because, in all honesty, it seems unbelievably lame.

No, he is just playing like a sissy. Good battles are more like this:

That's also a little on the easy mode with heavy armor and shield, it gets a lot more intense if you fight more agressivly.

is it really so hard to read? it's a video of an easy, cheesy, cheap way to kill one of the minibosses at the lowest levels with starting equipment (pretty much when you're not "supposed" to fight/kill him). greeks gonna greek :balance:

The interface won’t be redone, keyboard and mouse support will be minimal so gamepads are heavily recommended, and there won’t be new graphics settings. From Software producer Hidetaka Miyazaki is paraphrased as saying the game being “a straight port” was publisher Namco’s decision. There will be new content – enemies and areas and stuff like that – but while welcome I think we’d all agree we’d much prefer a well-optimised PC version rather than extra stuff.

But it-

But-

Brothers, my stamina bar is empty. Someone else must fight the good fight.

The Dark Souls postgame- it is too hard for me. I knew the real challenge was the RPG Codex level but this is just getting too repetitive. Maybe if I could quick-save or fight in turn-based mode...

A keyboard + mouse would be horrible for this game anyway. The gameplay is thoroughly designed for a gamepad. Playing Dark Souls on a keyboard + mouse would be like trying to play JA2 on a gamepad.

I love regenerating health, cover systems and Biowarethesda.

I translated your post into what it looks like to the PC people.

Thanks, I should have saved myself the trouble. Some people around here have it programmed into their minds Dark Souls is shit just because it is a console/Jap game. Clearly, being made on a console means Dark Souls can't stand up to recent action/rpgs made for the prestigious PC such as the Witcher 2: Ultimate For Real This Time Edition and Dragon Age 2. Just look at some of the posts in this thread:

Video of the first area

"Wow, this game sure looks like easy casual shit!"

Video of someone cheesing a boss to death

"LOLOLOL this is hard bosses? You sure showed me consolefags olol!"

The delusion is hilarious.

Oh no, how about they let me test if I really dislike playing it with k+m, as I have countless other games, including platformers, action games, sims and whatnot.
Eat shit and play your re4-esque port.

Gotta say I love Dark Souls, but it's a very shitty thing not to allow Keyboard+Mouse. I'm very excited to play this on my PC, but VERY cautionous that this seems like a very shitty port...

No, just no, wasd + mlook fits this game like a glove. That being said I'm convinced they're gonna use some autistic hipster to translate the controls totally ruining it.

 I hope they don't fuck this port up! PC needs more Souls less Haloes.

bawww

You sound mad.

They didn't want to port the game in the first place, and only did after being overwhelmed with pleas from pirates PC gamers. PC gamers are the most finicky, self-entitled consumers on the planet. This is exactly what would happen on the internet no matter what they did about the controls:

Enable keyboard + mouse, game plays awkwardly because it was designed from the ground up for a gamepad:

SHIT GAME THE CONTROLS SUCK! LETS BOMB THE METACRITIC WITH 0 SCORES FOR THE WIN! YOU CAN'T TREAT PC GAMERS LIKE THIS!

Game can only be played the way it was designed:

YOU MEAN I CAN'T PLAY THIS GAME WITH MY STEERING WHEEL AND GEAR SHIFT ACCESSORY?!?!?! SHIT GAME! NO PURCHASE! YOU CAN'T TREAT PC GAMERS LIKE THIS!

 Keep thinking they're doing it because Namco's cold, cold ice heart has been warmed by the petition. They're doing it because it's business and on top of that they're doing it with as little effort put into it as possible. It's not a fucking charity, they smell gold, they go for it.
Let's see, GFWL, 1:1 port, minimal k+m support. Yup, seems like we're gonna have a hit, boys!

How do you know it'd play awkwardly with PROPER k+m support?

Pretty sure we'll keep thinking that. From Software is notorious for shitty ports- nobody sane would ask for one and they know they have a bad reputation for them, too. That's why they wanted to avoid one in the first place. But no, people had to whine and bitch for one.

Yeah, poor Namco, if there only were some decent console ports in the history of video games, maybe then they'd have something to go by.

how are they notorious for shitty ports (i'm assuming pc here) if they only did one, and of a really terrible game at that? they wanted to avoid one because they have very little experience (and because they're relatively small and proper porting can be expensive and time consuming). and who "whined and bitched" for a port? people saw that (if ported properly, of course, not this quick money-grubbing sham) it could be a very good title on PC quite suited for the PC gaming community and so they started a petition (technically encouraged by Bamco)? where does the "whining and bitching" exactly come into this scenario?
