If you get all up in her face, to one side between her mutated uterus and front spidey legs, she cannot hit you with her melee attacks. You just need to watch out for the occasional explosion attack and fury stomp. And don't step in lava of course.
Yeah, I noticed that her attacks always miss if you're close enough. Perhaps I just didnt find the "sweet spot", as I often got stabbed in the back while trying to avoid a stomp or roar, so I stopped trying it.

Playing DLC for the first time.....Knight Artorias was kicking my ass, then I tried Havels + Iron Flesh and killed him in one go with a fully upgraded Great Scythe. I feel like a genius for trying that combo. His hits do almost no damage and you can simp[ly recast iron flesh and heal while he is buffing.

Trying to get all achievements. Not very hard so far, except tail cutting Priscilla is going to be difficult, I think. I tried cutting it when she was friendly, but it didn't work. Then I accidentally one shotted her with my scythe, which is the hard part. She's kind of a fragile boss and if you kill her without tail cutting her first, you're fucked until the next game. Going to have to go after her with a weaker weapon next time, I think.

Dark Souls keeps inspiring new games

Now, inspiring Salt and Sanctuary

I guess there truly is a Soulslike subgenre now.

I used used the most damaging weapon I had, 2 handed it and swung it at her tail, nearly killing it before the fight even started.

The hitbox for the tail is very small, much easier to hit when she is standing still.

Heh, salt and sanctuary. Because you feel salty when you die? Ha ha...ha...eh. Losing the accumulated salt upon death kinda ruins the joke.

It really doesn't look like a bad game on its own, but I don't know about desperately trying to feel like a more popular game. Just makes the player feel like he should probably be playing that other game instead.

Wayward Souls was really good because the influences were mostly surface-level and it's a very charming little game in its own right. I can't fault them for trying to grab such a dedicated audience but yeah I don't necessarily like it

To me a 2D Dark Souls would be awful, mostly because it would be Dark Souls if you actually had to stop and fight every single enemy. The virtue of Dark Souls is that once you understand the layout of a level, you can usually just run past most enemies to get to the boss. That's much harder to do in 2D.

I really dislike that these games are so blatantly ripping off the Souls aesthetic.

I love that DaS1 lets you be an insane tank in PvE. I just made Giant's Set +5, and even at SL1 I can still tank the shit out of everything. Compared to getting 2-3 shot by everything, the difference is amazing. DaS2 armor is so much more useless (except for elemental defense). I love the really slow animations and fat rolling... The sound effects are amazing too.

Of course, rolling in PvE is much more viable in DaS2. DaS1 feels a lot more stiff when just trying to dodge simple PvE attacks... Especially around ledges. I remember trying to do Valley of Defilement 5-1 in DeS without a shield... :negative:

That's true. Everyone thought I was crazy when I said DS2 was harder than DS1. Playing DS1 for the second time, I stand by that, I'd just qualify it that tank builds are much harder in DS2 than DS1. Once you get fully upgraded armor in DS1 you are a god in a way that you aren't in DS2.

I have recently completed my first playthrough with STR build. Bosses and some locations were quite challenging and sometimes possesed interesting mechanics (until i obtained artorias greatshield, really powerful thing), but what the most i liked were lore and location design. Universe showed to be grimdark, and full of decadence. Most of the locations also possess original designs. And there was one, which i liked the most - the Ash Lake. At first i was stunned by its awe, and even now i found it quite thrilling. The only idea that surface is supported by the forest of underworld archtrees is enough to make this location is at least interesting, but it also perfectly resemble surface from age of ancients.
Could it be that 4 lords and Seath didn't banished the dragons, but crafted a new upper world free of them? I know some item descriptions ofter mentioning something like "the last of everlasting dragons", "the only ancient dragon" and like, but that could be true only from the player's perspective. It could also be, that underworld is habitated not by everlasting dragons themselves, but their numerous descendants, like lesser dragons, drakes, wyverns, hydras. There could be also other islands, with more life on them.

Also, ash lake reminds me of the same place from anime Nausicaa.

Ash Lake was extremely disappointing for me. You have to go through one of the toughest areas in the game to get there and the sight of it is breathtaking, but ultimately there's basically nothing there for you to do. You get to kill an hydra, a couple of those oyster thingies and that's it.

When i first came there i also get cursed and had to return through Blighttown with almost no hp, so from gameplay view that place is really bad. And also no shortcut.

Between The Great Hollow and Ash Lake there is a ton of titanite (several random, about 20 twinkling, several chunks of different colors, and at least one slab), a stamina regeneration ring, a few dragon scales, a dragon weapon (with the highest base damage of any weapon in the game), and a covenant whose rewards yield a massive buff to damage output. So it's not exactly like there is no reward for going there. Additionally, I see The Great Hollow as a training course for improving your ability to control your character precisely.

^ That. It's an optional area for people who want more loot/upgrade materials to farm or completionists who want to check out the Dragon Covenant, etc. Never been there myself because I prefer making new characters (doing SL1 one now) but I appreciate they added the extra content.

Dark Wood Grain Ring is awesome. Makes NG++ Smough and Ornstein a joke. Wish it was in DS2.

Anyhow, I finished all achievements. This game is really easy once you know what you are doing. I think I finished NG+ in like 6 hours.

While the extra i-frames are nice and all, the ninja flipping animation just makes me cringe. I CAN'T DO IT BROS

Oh yeah, if the testing people have done is accurate, having 120 AGL in DaS2 is more OP than the DWGR.
