And now you know why I counciled against killing Solaire earlier on.

Also, that door you went through there? By donating 30 humanity to the Chaos Servant covenant you can open it from the other side, allowing you to skip a fair chunk of Lost Izalith.

Can you save Solaire? Oh, and I unintentionally "killed" onion knight in Lost Izalith. Two buddies in one run.

Yep. It's a bit iffy, but if you pay the 30 humanity to open the shortcut from the other side, kill the Sunlight Maggot and then kill the Centipede Demon you'll find Solaire moping where the Sunlight Maggot was. If you save him this way he can help you in the final boss fight.

It might be possible to kill it with certain Pyromancies through the door, but don't count on it.

In a bigger sense you can't save Solaire because he's fucking crazy and thinks a glow worm is a sun and "saving" him probably means he hangs himself in a closet ten minutes after you last see him

I feel like the Dark Souls 2 Lucatiel thing is the story people think they were having with Solaire

Lucatiel would've gone off the deep end anyway if she'd actually entered Aldia's Keep and met the first invader.

I had him in my last fight as a summon. Well if you will not light the fire, he would
and his wish to become sun would be granted.

Thought it might be his optimism resistance to fire and boneheadenes that would prevent him be consumed as fast as lord Gwyn.

Went ahead and picked up SotFS on sale. I'm vaguely aware of the flow of the game from reading here and there but I'm going to try to keep the guide/wiki use to zero.

Just to clarify before I start out, all the stats are somewhat useful this time around, right? I recall that Resistance was an all around dump stat in DS1.

Ok PVP is bullshit. The hit defending is so fucking poor, some guy backstabbed me 5 times in a row.

Then people can hit in front of you even though you're far away and the hit still registers.

Don't get me started on the back stab glitching shit where characters run around into your character to get a backstab.

Can't believe circle strafing works online. Can you believe that me and another guy backstabbed each other at the same time?

Finding and joining a match is a tricky process in itself. There are lots of dead areas in this game that most people won't stay in for long, keeping the pvp to only certain locations. Also factor in the level requirements and how long it takes just to invade makes for a lot of wasted time.

It's fun when it works but I hope dark souls 2 fixed this.

Pretty much. The only thing that needs to be explained is that your invincibility frames is determined by your Adaptability attribute (NOT Equip Load, which only affects stamina reg and roll length). I-Frame gains from Adaptability stops at 38.

Misleading. It's Agility stat that does it. It also makes you use items faster (like Estus), Influenced mostly by Adaptability but also to a lesser extent by Attunement. Agility thresholds here. AGL 105 is all you really need.

Four Kings are down! The trick was to go all-out and kill them one by one, before they could swarm me. Giant's Halberd +5 definitely helped.

I am not playing a NG+ in this. In fact, I feel like I deserve a two-week vacation after I finish the game.
No, you download Scholar of the First Sin (or regular Dark Souls if your computer is a potato that cannot run DirectX 11) and play that.

I did it, bros. Took me ~120 hours, but I did it. I resisted the temptation of spending hours farming black knights in KotFF (and upgrading the equipment they drop) and killed Gwyn on the second try.

Great game. It will leave a lasting memory and make many other ARPGs look bad in comparison. I am definitely picking up the sequel at some point.

I wanted to get the Fire Age ending, but accidentally got the other one. Does not really matter, I guess.

welp i beat the game, can't say the final boss fight was all that great. I lost to Gwyn the first time by myself because I was cocky. I was parrying him like hell then I started fucking up and he killed me, I sort of see why they allow you to parry him now. He is so aggressive and quick that it would be a really difficult fight otherwise.

I got the dark lord ending unexpectedly, I didn't fucking know walking out of the boss room gave you that ending, I thought I could go back to Lordran. I'm done with Dark Souls for now, twas a 100 hour journey that was mostly enjoyable with its ups and downs. It was a very good game, I liked it and look forward to playing Dark Souls 2 and playing Bloodborne again.

Git gut shrub. Or summon Solaire and fight like a man (against increased HP bar because you summoned).

Actually, I don't know if HP increase works with Gwyn as well...

And finished. The Tomb Of Giants went a lot smoother than I thought and Nito was a pussy. The game is great, the ending area and the final boss was very underwhelming through... Currently watching enb's videos of DS1 mostly for lore cause I could figured out like 10% of it.
Is DS2 so bad as someone says? What about Bloodborne?

It's different. The structure of its openness has been reversed: you start with four areas you can go to, after this they converge into a single straight pathway with no shortcuts to places you came from. There's a lot more stuff to find, but you'll not use all that many different weapons.

Dying means that your max health goes down X% until you use a Human Effigy, who take the place of Humanity. Oh, and there's a finite number for you to find/buy and grinding more is extremely difficult.

git gud, scrub. seriously

a) there's no finite number of anything. join the CoC covenant and things go back to respawning infinitely. and even if by accident you depopulate an area, you can use an ascetic to restore everything (non-metal chests included).

b) there's plenty of effigies lying about, they're relatively easy to farm if you really really want to (harder than DaS1 as there's no humanity sprites or baby skellies, but faster than farming from rats) and you can return to human form just by successfully cooping with the small soapstone (i.e. kill a few mobs for 3-5mins or kill a boss)

c) the HP loss is negligible as you have a ring that mitigates it, 4 ring slots, and on average more HP than in DaS1

i definitely agree with the remarks about the world. i'd also add that most vanilla levels are kind of meh to garbage, they feel like linear paths with a few "treasure rooms" on the side, and the whole world doesn't feel like a world at all. on the other hand, the 3 DLC areas more than make up for it (except for the challenge areas and bosses, which are utter garbage and i'd rather play through Izalith with the BoC than go through any of those ever again). huge, interconnected, excellently designed, fantastic bosses, easily some of the best Souls experience in the whole series (if not the best, period)
