Just run past the enemies lmao

I saw an enemy at the bottom of some stairs and stabbed him in the back, saw how little health it took off, and tried to run from him. Guy did not give up and eventually caught up and killed me.

What did you choose as your starting class?

Warrior since it seemed to be a pretty good middle-of-the-road character with good strength and endurance.

turn back and look up.

Climbing on the ladder to kill those skeles and then using it again to stab it in the head was the first thing I did. A good start, but not enough.

That's probably a black knight. If you haven't beaten the bridge demon I'd say it's too early to tackle with those.

You shouldn't need to rely on a plunging attack against the Taurus Demon. Make sure your encumbrance is low enough to be able to roll when necessary, use your 100% block shield as much as possible in general against all enemies, and either back away (with shield raised) or roll away from the Taurus Demon's powerful attacks. He should go down fairly easily.

It's shocking how few appreciate this strat. In 95% percent of cases, this is the best tactic.

Not when it's literally your first level in the game. If you cannot consistently clear the level from main path mobs, you are not ready to move on and you are not learning the game properly. The player will continue to suffer, as the levels become harder and player's skill doesn't improve as well.

Roguey and new players should think why they are dying from the same enemies and what they should change because it's not "normal" to die in the every step of of the game.

Watching a YT video on how to approach mobs is not a bad idea either. It's still very early in the game, nothing will be spoiled and even 2-3 minutes might be enough to see what you're doing wrong.

As a tip, it always works for me to level up my health, so I can at least stay alive longer and observe the opponent.

Good news, I beat the boss. Bad news, I then spent the next few hours replaying the same sequence trying to make it to the other side of a gate to unlock it. I've accomplished that, but now I'm done. If I were younger, I'd keep toughing it out, but I have no interest in this constant repetition. In worse news, I bought Bloodborne alongside this so it's likely I'll have to repeat this process with different content.

Okay. I'm going to give you a hint below on how to make the game considerably easier as far as gameplay goes. Spoil at your own risk.

Go back to the Undead Merchant. Buy the Heater Shield. If you have the souls and the drive, buy the boxes he offers, but it's okay if you don't. Kill him. Get curved sword. Increase DEX to 20. Enjoy Dark Souls slightly easier.

Bloodborne is even more dependent on the player's physical skill than Dark Souls, has faster-paced combat, and offers fewers options in terms of character customization. If you find early Dark Souls too difficult, you won't have a chance at getting anywhere in Bloodborne.

You probably need to reconsider your playstyle, perhaps even restarting the game, until you find a method that works for you (e.g. turtling behind a shield).

Git gud scrub.

Seriously the beauty of Dark Souls is precisely that you CAN get good. It's not that kind of difficulty where it's all sheer physical skill and if you suck at twitch gameplay you'll suck forever. There's a logic in how everything work and all it takes is some time to figure it out and allow finger memory to catch up.

The draw back is that once you DO get good it will just be sadness.

I didn't feel any sense of accomplishment or relief from beating the boss and making it to the blacksmith bonfire, just exhaustion and dread at the next stack of work it was going to give me. Since I'm not paid to do this, I'm not going to bother. I can see why it's popular with krautdex since it's pretty much

I've had friends like you Roguey.
"This is dumb."
"This doesn't feel rewarding."
"Too repetitive."
Fast-forward a few years they feel the urge again and disappear for ~72 hours, next time I talk to them they're sending me links to the wiki and Vaatividya videos.
