sometimes they release on GOG.
Unfortunately they've only done that once with a modern release (Dragon's Dogma) and that didn't even have Denuvo to begin with. Hard to say if they just didn't find it profitable enough to care or GOG never came up to them for another opportunity (or maybe a mix of both). Shame since they clearly know it exists, they just don't use it enough.

They regularly release on most torrent sites, so GOG has a low priority

With Capcom, it's fair to say at this point the general pattern for them is to release a new AAA game with Denuvo and then remove it once they're done with support.

If every company did this every time with DRM I'd never complain about DRM again. Should be standard practice, for preservation reasons if nothing else.

If you'd told me a decade ago Capcom would be supporting PC and releasing (generally) good ports, I'd have thought you insane.

Bethesda accidentally left a Denuvo-free .exe in Doom Eternal's files

On Steam and Bethesda's own launcher, Doom Eternal launched with Denuvo DRM built-in to discourage piracy. Unfortunately for Bethesda, Doom Eternal had a DRM-free .exe left amongst the files of the version released on its in-house launcher. A poster on Reddit discovered the file sitting in a folder titled "original," writing "Um guys - I think I "cracked" Doom Eternal? [Serious]."

As cracks go, this one is about as simple as possible. "Open the main game folder and you'll notice the 369 MB denuvo DOOMEternalx64vk.exe," BarryGettman wrote on Reddit. "However, under ..\Doom Eternal\original you'll find a smaller 67 MB .exe with the same name. Copy this .exe to the main folder and overwrite the denuvo .exe."

Funny thing is they paid a fat chunk of moneyz for that Denuvo and then some retarded intern responsible for the final bundling fucked it up and caused them substantial damages. Afaik Denuvo charges 100k+, depending on a title. And a Doom game would be in the highest bracket.

Jesus, I wouldn't want to be the poor schmuck who's behind it. He's gonna pay this shit off till he's grey.

If it's anything like Rage 2, the Denuvo was only there to prevent review copies getting out. The Bethesda Launcher version of Rage 2 did not have it, and it was patched out of the Steam version in like a week. I get that this is different because it's a DRM free .exe, just saying I'm not sure the Denuvo is there for consumers really.

Meanwhile, Red Dead Redemption 2 does not even use Denuvo and is still uncracked. I am impressed.
Who would want to download a 120 GB torrent. :D BTW, give me a hint of what trackers are alive nowadays or where to look. My boomer-times tracker is taken down.

Yeah, no. Once RDR2 is cracked trillions of poorfags will be torrenting it no matter the size.

It's not cracked yet because apparently carving out the always-online Rockstar social club thingy is way more difficult than doing away with the puny steam.dll.

Pretty sure it's not always online.
There were posts about people losing their connection and immediately being kicked out of the game. That's the definition of always online.

Btw I'm not an expert but I think always online has always been the most effective DRM. Devs stopped using not because it was useless but because the backlash was absolutely devastating, not just from gamers but from mainstream journos too. Now Rockstar had the balls to revive it and they utterly got away with it. I haven't seen a single article lambasting them.

Maybe that was in the online mode? If the singleplayer required a constant internet connection I'm pretty sure I would've heard about it and seen whinging about it, or even experienced a blip myself. That hasn't been a thing outside multiplayer since Ubisoft tried it, to my knowledge.

Yeah.

RDR2 file size was too big so no one bought it.

Yes, you took it seriously when you shouldn't have, taxalot. My condolences for your inability to catch irony.

I was among the few if not the only one who maintained in the RDR2 thread that a PC version will definetly come out, and I'm currently 150 hours in it. I'm the biggest western fan on this forum most probably. If you had an idea about my enthusiasm about the game you would have caught the humor of understatement.

EDIT: You are not supposed to thank me for those condolences. That was also irony.
