Sometimes people become haters just because they hate something.

And unless the Dark Side actually makes smarter I doubt people do it to seem smarter.
And the thing leading them to become haters are people like you. Often.

no one cares about oblivion any more, this author and you guys need to get with the times, it's all about fallout 3 and new vegas now fantasy is out post-apoc is in

Daggerfall did every single one of these and did all of them better. So did Morrowind. M&M1 did most of them (novels to read being the notable exception) 20 years before Oblivion. If we're going to praise the game for being the first to do something, can we please make sure it was really the first and not the one hundredth?

I haven't read the article yet, but in the quote you selected, he specifically says Oblivion is the first he's played with those features. If he actually praised it for being the first, you should have quoted that instead.
