Vikings don't often make games, but when they do ... :)
I got curious so I did a quick search. Aside from a Mount Everest simulator and some pay2win stuff the most notable game from Iceland would be Kingdom, that 2d kingdom building game.

It's such a blatant 'Jones in the Fast Lane'-ripoff one could almost call it a sequel.

Looks like a bootleg Game of Life.

The phantasm is the undisputed Chad ship of the game, even in appearance. But the prophecy navy issue is the Brad ship. Rangy, tough, friendly, affordable, and with good drones, it's a true reliable bud for any fleet. A turkey on steroids.

Am I the only guy who thinks the abaddon is the most flexible T1 battleship? It can be rationally fit with either pulse or beam lasers, but also cap warfare, ECM, smartbombs, even autocannons (to free up power for more armor). It's like a "strategic battleship". And apparently utterly despised anyway, due to being slow and cap hungry if you fit it like an idiot. :mixedemotions:

By the way, the best ship for stabbing a solo ratter in the back is whatever ship you think looks the coolest. Just about any one will work.

That's a blast from the past, I was in the alliance he's talking about (Stribog). Can't recall his name right now, but he was the alliance leader, recognize him from the voice. Had no idea he apparently has a huge Youtube channel now.
He's downplaying the amount of ISK we were making a bit. It was very good, but on the other hand it was super risky and required a long, dangerous grind for the gate rep that cratered your standing with another faction (EDENCOM I think).

I was really surprised at how badly CCP fucked up Pochven, I quit at that point too. Just made a complete dumpster fire of a cool idea that could've shaken things up.

His name was Maldavious. He's also full of shit on this particular topic. It wasn't HIS decision to burn down stuff in pochven. That happened as a result of beef with Suddenly Spaceships, with SS (with batphone friends ofc) getting the job done of burning quite a lot of structs. With shitload of space pinatas broken, he then "decided" to burn Pochven. Source: I was there, in SS, doing the proper burnination.

Standings was easy to do. If you got early enough, you could create chars that were neutral to both Edencom and Trigs, so we had plenty of alts to deal with that. After pochven opened, you could easily grind trig standing by sniping Drifters. Stealth Bomber squads were a thing, as well as max range sniper Nagas. Of course CCP fucked it up by then dropping the standing requirement to use Pochven gates...

Also, the biggest problems in moving around Pochven wasn't standings or trigs, but bloody Drifters camping gates.

The dominix navy issue is the ship the praxis wishes it were. The myrmidon navy issue is what the gnosis wishes it were. The best most "balanced" ships in the game.

The Potato was my fav ship from the very first day in EVE, and the first BS I've ever flown (and promptly lost it to a Sansh spawn in Providence :D)

Too much focus on Sov and giant-ass battles. It's fun commanding 100+ people fleet, it's not fun being in one. Small gang, where everyone needs to be competent and know what to do was always most fun for me.
To a much smaller degree, introducing more and more complicated manufacturing chains, making it hard for a solo entrepreneur or a small group breaking into it.
Shrinking the world by introducing all the various distance reducing mechanics.
Being to lax with botters and RMTers.

Due to the new breacher ships, blingy explosive armor hardeners have gone up in price a lot, because that's the pseudo-weakness of Gallente ships and they're based more on repping than EHP. Boomers rejoice.

But for some reason the faction explosive armor hardeners are way cheaper than the T2's. I don't get it.

Is this game still worthy indulging days of your life? As a new player. I always watched it from a far in those clickbait videos "The Biggest Economical Crash of All Gaming" or "The Battle to End All Gaming Battles" and thought, damn that is cool but I am probably too late to embark in the boat.

As a new player I tried playing it a few years ago, it was alright. I played it for 2-3 weeks, ended up joining some sort of newbie guild thing with a couple guys, but they weren't really doing anything. I tried joining a pirate group but looks like they were looking for experienced people.

If you don't have a lot of time, I would say don't bother too much with it. If you do though, I know there is some sort of interesting thing that one of the guys told me to remake my account with it, cause it gave you like 1 mill exp for free to start off with, which is quite a lot. So google around for it, I don't quite remember.

Also, I think after you play for it for a bit to get a hang of the basics, I think you'll then need to try and push for some sort of pvp thing. I think this game is probably really good if you're rich and don't mind spending a lot of money on it ($100 a month?) Cause you can buy subscription "cards" and then just sell them on the market for in game gold, then just use that gold to buy decent ships and go screw around with other players etc... that's the best experience in this game I think.

I'll probably pass, given the feedback and some side research I just did, there's Foxhole or Elite Dangerous for that sort of small cog second life grind hit. It is a shame though, the game seems to have a lot of interesting systems going that could be enjoyable, but not worthy submitting to virtual serfdom.

I haven't played in years, but you could have a ton of fun without being a megacorp line-monkey. As a solo player I would roam nullsec in a cloaking ship and pick on the megacorp carebears out mining or ratting (killing NPCs for money) and could support that playstyle just by doing exploration every so often (puzzle gameplay that gives better rewards when done in dangerous space).
With a small group of 5-10 people you could put together a gang of fast, maneuverable ships capable of outrunning a larger fleet of megacorp monkeys and picking them off at range. If you wanted to own your own space to do industry or stage raids out of, with a similarly sized group you could easily move into a wormhole system and start living there.

I probably still wouldn't recommend it though unless you're a NEET or retired as it's a huge time sink. Because all of the fun stuff is completely player driven, you could spend hours looking for suitable targets, find nothing, and end up going home having wasted a bunch of time. And if you want to own space you have to constantly be on the watch for someone coming and trying to kick over your sandcastle.

I think it is worth spending a couple hours flying around the universe in your starter ship, just touring the gorgeous skyboxes of the different regions of space, visiting different space stations and walking around them, flying up to people's huge ships and looking at them, read some of the lore blurbs on this faction or that faction, immerse yourself in the music, etc.
