wvwvw guide:

- log into game and go to wvwvw area (this step is very important!)
- run around
- if u find blue ppl run after them
- if u find red ppl roll face over keyboard
- everyone is dead! congratulations

Missing the step where you sign on as Average Manatee and claim it's strategic thinking.

Well, WvW can be fun, as long as you're avoiding the main zerg forces and are in a group of friends, going around, capturing objectives, and running into similar small groups that are doing the same thing. Of course, one can say, why not just go sPvP instead and to that I say, ADD NON-TOURNAMENT GROUP JOIN.

Being in a zerg group is fun too, especially if it's your team who zergs the other :M

our timezone sucks balls for team games.
logging in to an empty guild chat on weeknights is pretty typical for me.
gonna look for a local guild..

You can always be in multiple guilds and just pop over to KKK whenever you see a bunch of us are online and representin'. Or when you feel an urge to partake in our sweet sweet magic find bonus. At the current influence rate we can afford to maintain it permanently.

yeah man, thanks for the metal boxes. lord generic hits 80 tonight - and im kinda leaving him alone cause the end zone PVE is horribad and very unfun.
it's either getting zerged by the mobs or you do the zerging with a dozen other randoms just farming the zone while i tap scepter auto attack over and over.
why so lazy, arenanet? the drop of quality is very noticeable.

Would've quit if PVP wasn't holding my interest. Close-fought tournament rounds on kyhlo are still goddamn satisfying

content quality seems to take a nosedive after level 50.
Yea, haven't played for nearly a week now. The whole "same shit again" factor is too high, when the gameplay itself isn't good enough to uphold interest in doing same shit again and again.

The amount of bugged events is pretty disheartening, i'm server hopping and hoping theirs isn't fucked either. Why do MMO companies always make a pigs ear of everything.

Enjoying the Engineer kits. They patched the auto-attack bind in now.
Was playing last night with bomb kits, elixir guns with dual pistols while listening to New Vegas radio tracks.
Felt DAMN good.

As anengineer don't use pistols nor rifle, use flamethrower or bombs, because they are overpowered :M

bombs are still overpowered, just spamming their standard attack kills everything, even if multiple enemies try to kill you, you're likely to kill them all before they get half of your HP - and that's when you're standing. You can also run and put the bombs under your legs so your enemies run into them and you can kill everything that fights melee without a single damage on your side. I fight like that all the time.

lul who are you replying to. :M

But yeah, bombs and grenades seem to be what engineers are all about at the moment. I did like running a full elixir build, really hard to kill with all the boons, invulnerability, condition removal and self ressurect.

Yeah but the initial engagement would just be best started with a pistol skills first to add damage before they get in range.
I kinda doubted it was effective, but it really is. Makes me rethink my weapon purchases.
Hence I asked: is Enginering kit damage affected by weapons at all?

You mean if the stats on the weapons count while you're in the kits? No idea...never paid attention. Think so. But sigils don't proc I think?

A dual-pistol elixir build can output a frightening amount of damage in pvp. But it's a bit too squishy for my liking

I got a review code last night and have been playing this morning. I have to say, this is the first MMO I've played that I've actually enjoyed. While the combat is still kind of a clusterfuck of spamming hotkeys, I love the openness and the way that the game draws players together through events... and events that grow out of other events based on their outcomes. This is possibly the most innovative thing I've seen in an MMO in a long time and it makes the game feel dynamic and exciting. It's amazing nobody has really done this sort of thing before. Best part? It actually gets players to cooperate and work together simply by placing them in proximity and giving them communal tasks. Not only is it an MMORPG that is massive and an RPG, it also feels like a true multiplayer game.

Also, kudos to NC Soft for not creating pointless systems, wait times, costs etc. that exist not to make the game more fun, but to make you waste more time. You mean I can resurrect instantly every time I die?! And teleport anywhere at any time? Really goes to show how fucking pathetic and manipulative most other MMOs are. If nothing else, at least Guild Wars 2 has integrity and respects its players.

That said I'm only level 4 (playing one of them tree-people) so things might go to shit later on, but for now I'm having fun. The lack of monthly fees mean I'll probably keep coming back to the game for a while just to see what changes.

sea -- Be sure to hook up with one of the codex guilds. We can send you stuff and call you a fag. ;)
Also, if you're doing it as a review, you really should make sure to spend at least some time with WvW (bleargh) and sPVP. Especially try to find a group for a tourney. The game is a whole different beast there and if GW1 is any indication that's what people will be playing down the line.

In other news, patch notes are out:
https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/info/news/Update-Notes-October-1st-2012

Seems mostly bugfixes still. Bunch of profession tweaks but nothing I'm terribly excited about either way. Nice that autobalance no longer happens when the match is nearly done though. It really sucked to get autobalanced out of a match victory bonus with 20 seconds to go.

Yes, specially after you were the one with the most contribution to the score.

/me waves his penismagic wand.
What is this sorcery?!

Autobalance now gives you an automatic win and a bonus just for putting yourself in the pool. No reason to not elect to be autobalanced unless it's much earlier in the map and the other team absolutely sucks.
