Looks like that only RK, Angsthorn and I still play
That's the thing with sub-free MMOs, you don't feel "compelled" to keep playing every effing day and therefore being forced to make social ties in order to make a return on your "investment". I play both GW2 and WoW in my spare time, and I have to say that while I enjoy GW2 way more than WoW the raiding aspect aside, the time consumed by WoW is still greater since, well, everyone paid their money for this month's fix and so they'll be online there. Which's amusing since most of the guild has GW2 as well and do show up there as well (and most are actually sharing my feelings regarding WoW). Guess I should just start arranging dungeon & overworld events and dragging people around again, ah the joys of RLing and power abuse.

Well now that it's apparent that the game sucks, does anyone want to get rid of their account? If so PM me.

I would, but I don't want to lose my GW1 account. Sadly they are tied together, and Anet's retarded autodetection system flags your account as "hacked" if you keep logging into it from different locations, so I couldn't even give GW2 to a friend and keep GW1 myself without my account being disabled every other week. No word from support other than "don't do that". Fuckers.

Wish I would have known that the GW1 carryover bonuses were such absolute shit. Before GW2 release they said that the bonuses would be weapons and sets of armor that you could continue using throughout the game. Of course everyone that played GW1 assumed it was the equivalent of Hero Armor that leveled with your character. But of course Anet couldn't ruin their gold shop so the bonuses are nothing more than fucking skins to apply to other weapons.

Err, no, it was p. clear from the beginning that those would be purely cosmetical.

I can't find the preview they made, but they only said that the items wouldn't give special advantage to players who had them. And if you go to the online hall of monuments page it still says it unlocks items, not item skins. They also said that the items would be usable at all levels. Put two and two together and that's what you get. Maybe your hindsight is tricking you, but the impression they gave was that the unlocks would help free you from the Diablo 2 item collection crap. I suppose if you want to pull the "from a certain point of view" bullshit they still weren't technically lying, but it was dishonest.

No.

PS: See Manatee, that's the way to do it.

Anyway: Still having fun. If I get another ca. 15 hours of fun out of it, it's better than any (recent) aRPG *shrug*

Arah - How my coffee heated in rage and cooled in laughter.

Remember when the game was about 'getting skins from dungeons' and feeling good about it?
A lot of people haven't done Arah cause Lupicus is a really hard encounter that is present in most paths, and token farming a single path is slow even by regular dungeon standard.

Now they've made it slightly easier by virtue of token dropping off bosses. It's not a lot, around 3 tokens per kill.
But it seems enough to drive a bunch of self-achievers feel insecure in GW2Guru.com Forums.

Guys, I'm jealous of people who wear unique armor set. I'm still dreaming of it you know. My feelings are hurt by virtual game achievements that is unachievable by me.

I guess those are the kind of customers that Arena.Net likes - one that appreciates armor grinds and a measure of self-importance that comes with them. Fractals of the Mists people, where you grind for infusions to challenge the next level and gain fun + reward.
But let's look back in April 2012 blog of theirs...

It all gets back to our basic design philosophy. Our games aren’t about preparing to have fun, or about grinding for a future fun reward.

So I bought this, because I played GW1 with some friends and as usual the game was crap and all the fun came from the friends, but once again, you need the crap game to have fun with the friends.

Of course, they are all level 80 and I just played couple of hours in the starting quests and what the hell is up with all the fetch quests and terribad dialogue and running back and forth? Where the hell is the MMO in this thing?

Well, one of the said friends demanded it as payment for staying over at his house and getting free chaffeur-ing for 3 days. Seemed reasonable, except I really didn't expect it to be this shitty.

I'll give it a few proper hours at some point, at least.

Over there.
I have so many of these awkward moments when I'm killing shit, then someone else comes along and helps me kill shit, and when everything's dead I either run away or log out to avoid having to interact with them.

I hate it when that shit happens to me. I don't roll with a group or a guild. I'm a solo player. I don't get into fights I can't handle. So, when I'm whacking away at something and clearly winning the fight, I fucking rage when someone rolls by acts like he's doing me a favor by helping out. Were it not for a fear of a ban, I'd tell them to fuck off. Instead, I say nothing and keep going. I'm just waiting for one of those assholes to whisper something like "A thank you would be nice."
