No, it's only critical path and some side quest NPCs. Most secondary dialogue boxes on those aren't translated either. This is based on research I've done on Hajimari, Kuro 1, and Kuro 2 spreadsheet translations. Would love to be proven wrong on this, but I don't think I am. Trails games without the NPC dialogue just aren't worth playing for me.

It was done by zerofield which did a good job, sadly need to search a little to find it because
fuck nisa
also no need overlay programs or whatever + combat things are fully translated. also Im pretty sure someone translated (all?) npcs but at least most of em after that was released but cant check now

Yeah, "many minor characters" is not enough for me, sadly. Would do it if they confirmed they weren't bring Kuro to the west or something. If there was a patch out there with every line of dialogue translated, I would absolutely just buy a Japanese or Chinese copy though.

Finished reverie's main story but not postgame yet. That was great. Rean's storyline closure was so satisfying and really shows how much he has grown over the years. I can't believe they also managed to make me like this motherfucker:

No shit. He has become one of my favorite character in this series full of great characters. I don't mind the cop out death too since the game hammered to us that self sacrifice isn't the only answer, and lapis deserve her dad to be alive i guess. His route, i think is falcom's best writing chops in recent times. There are many things they did to "redeem" other characters like cedric in the daydream too. Falcom's writing can be inconsistent in quality but when they hit they hit a home run.

I just finished Trails in the Sky FC. Never played a JRPG before, because I was always put off by their ... uhm ... flamboyant art-style.

First the bad:
somehow I expected the game world be more open. Everything is very corridor-like which I found a bit disappointing. Cities look all the same and, god that camera rotation was annoying to the very end.

The neutral:
Combat seemed very basic at first, maybe because I played on normal difficuilty since I'm a filthy casual. First time I looked deeper how the orbments worked was when I lost to the two monster-dogs in Ruan.
I was really pissed at the multi-staged final battle. It took forever and when I fnally beat it the game crashed on me. It didn't crash a single time before that for 50+ hours, so I guess it was just bad luck for me.
Still don't know what to make of the thing that Professor Alba was the main villain after all. That Ouroboros organization came a bit out of thin air unless I missed something before. The bitter-sweet ending for Estelle an Joshua I found very touching.

The good:
Right at the beginning of the game I was convinced that Estelle would annoy the fuck out of me and that I would quit the game after two hours max. To my big surprise I ended up liking her.
Lore and characters is what carries the whole game. It's a very slow burner at the start but I actually enjoyed that. You learn about the world and its characters without getting lore-dumps getting pushed down your throat like in some other games (looking at you Pillars).

Summary:
Bit disappointed for the lack of world exploration and presentation of the world in general.
Liked the characters and story. I bought the next two games already. Are there any improvements in gameplay and exploration in later games of the series?
If I like this game does that mean I'm a weeb now?

Exploration - not really, it's like the weakest aspect of these games, but I guess that's just how (most) jrpgs are
There'll be some enhancement to the combat system, but nothing really worth looking forward to, at least not in Sky SC and 3rd

Actually Sky FC might be the least weeb game in this series

In the second game of a Trails arc, the game eventually opens up and you get freedom to go where you want. Chapter 8 of Trails in the Sky SC, the first half of the final chapter of Ao, act 2 of Cold Steel II, acts 2 and 3 of Cold Steel IV. However the level design is still corridors. The only really wide open fields levels in Trails games is that area around Zeiss in Sky, and the Nord Highlands in the first two Cold Steel games.

Cities look all the same

Yeah. Sky looks really samey. Towns with the same style, the roads are all the same green deciduous forests and brown rocky mountain paths. Crossbell is similar in having samey looking towns and samey roads. Cold Steel you get a little more aesthetic variety in locations (you get to visit a town whose main export is beer, and the surrounding countryside is yellow grain fields. You get to visit an old timey aristocratic city with baroque architecture. You get to visit mongolian steppe nomads. A castle by a misty lake. A huge urban metropolis. A quaint little village sequestered high in a snowy mountain range. Etc).

I played on normal difficuilty since I'm a filthy casual.

Normal difficulty is what the game was originally designed around. Later Trails games had higher difficulties but those did not exist in the original Sky. For the Sky games on PC you're playing now, those difficulties were inserted by the English localization company.

Right at the beginning of the game I was convinced that Estelle would annoy the fuck out of me and that I would quit the game after two hours max. To my big surprise I ended up liking her.

Be aware that the quirky Estelle we got is fanfiction by XSEED. In the original Japanese she's rather boring. That holds true for much of Trails' writing, which was spiced up by English localizers.

SC and Ao are pretty boring since you do not get to explore any new towns. They are 60+ hour long games set in the same places you already explored in the previous game. The Cold Steel sequels at least introduce new places to explore.

Combat becomes fun in Sky the 3rd, then becomes boring again in Crossbell. I found the combat and character building in the Cold Steel games to be very enjoyable.

Sidequests are trash until you reach Ao. Before Ao I would recommend skipping the side quests. Ao has a few sidequests which I found to be worthwhile (keeping talking to the Harolds and you will get them). CS has okay sidequests. Cold Steel IV has some very good side quests.

NISA get a lot of flack for their localizations, but they did at least cut down the filler "ha ha..." type lines dramatically.

I played both on Hard and it was kind of too easy for me. Though Azure has a number of quite tough fights towards the end, but there are ways to counter it with the help of Master Arts (also be sure to keep your burst orbs for when you really need them).

In terms of difficulty I'd rate Trails games (those that I've played so far) as follows:
Sky SC (Hard) >> Azure (Hard) > Sky 3rd (Hard) > CS2 (Nightmare) > CS1 (Hard) > Sky FC (Hard) > Zero (Hard)
None of them were particularly difficult for me except Sky SC

I found the combat in the first two Sky games and the Crossbell duology to not be very enjoyable. Crafts deal pitiful damage compared to arts (Agate suffers the most from this), and on higher difficulties the game boils down to spamming earth guard and aerial/death scream/white gehenna in Sky or equipping Pixie on Wazy and spamming Lord Inferno in Crossbell. Cold Steel was where I began enjoying the combat and character building. Crafts based damage builds become viable again even on higher difficulties. For CS1 my first playthrough was on hard, and I played the next three games after that on Nightmare, and then played Reverie on Abyss. The early game (first 20 hours or so) always sucks because you have so few options but eventually you get more party members and you're able to start farming sepith to craft better quartz and buy better gear and the combat starts becoming more manageable.

I have finished every trails game with the highest difficulty and zero+ao nightmare has been the best combat experience in any trails game for me

surprising if sky fc is that easy on hard, with nightmare its the second hardest game after sc

I am indeed happy with the challenge in Reverie! It's been pretty solid across the board so far. Hoping the trend continues in Kuro no Kiseki.

60 hours into Reverie so far and starting to slow down a bit to savor the last third or so. An era is coming to a close.

Still playing through Cold Steel 2, just reached Reverie Corridor, and holy FUCK, can this game just end already?
And I thought having to level up my characters a dozen levels before the "final" (lol not final) battle in the castle was going to be the end of my trouble, but now there is *another* fiNaL DuNGeoN I'm supposed to clear before it's truly over.
The concluding section of this game (Final chapter and the rest) IS dragged out beyond all reason, it's exhausting
Though it's a good thing you once again get to play Towa, Alfin and the other characters that are not part of Rean's class.

You could, I don't know, just stop playing if you're not enjoying it?
It is not that I wasn't enjoying it (at least gameplay-wise), but rather that the final did come out overly prolonged. And how can I just leave it at that when I've already made it this far, I just need to gather my strength for this final push
