Here's the cupcake thread with all the Bioware posts, posted a few pages back here. Several Bioware employees looking forward to eating the cupcakes and the guys in charge donated them to charity instead. What a bunch of assholes. $1k down the drain. I bet all those starving people loved those 400 cupcakes instead of getting actual food that would be cheaper and last them longer. I bet those messages were either put in the trash or in some file somewhere never to be seen again.

BioWare, helping the world one lesbian at a time. :salute:

Any regular of BSN would tell you that a large segment of the "gay community" there all but admit they're just in it for the romances.

the implied message is simple

"oh, so you're sending a positive and non-confrontational message with these cupcakes about our shitty ending? Well, unlike you entitled snarky brats we have our moral priorities straight, so we made the best out of your gimmicky stunt and gave these cupcakes to people who actually needed them."

I love it and look forward to their fans showing them up even more by sending them actual money in colors of red, green and blue, I'm sure that'll be an even stronger message and make bioware listen to its fans

Well to be fair a large segment of the straight population are also there for both the straight and gay romances as well

it's good that in this age we can all come together and enjoy some captain kirking

wait hold on what's this

So I just wanted to give everyone a heads up. I am going to be donating the excess $100 to Full Paragon. This is in no way reflective of whether or not we are going to do a Marauder Shields Cake in the future. It's just that such a project would take a few weeks (depending on the details of the cake), and I don't want to hang on to other people's money for that long.
Marauder Shields Cake

What happened to gamers

did fans buy a female avatar cosplay escort with boxes of green cheese for richard garriot when he made U9 I don't think so

bros what changed here

I want them to stop it

Hah, that thread is great. The Biodrones are now all so miserable, it's like they're having a hissy fit over Bioware. It's really like watching a soap opera, the biotards standing with their backs turned to Priestly, murmuring "... I thought you loved me. I thought I could always count on you..." And all the chocolates and flowers that Bioware throws at them now only aggravate the awkward situation. I don't want to spoil it, but any minute now, Casey Hudson will bust down the door and fly into the room. And then he'll kneel before the brokenhearted love affair and say "I never wanted this to happen, please, baby take me back! Look, I know I done you wrong, but I can fix it!" And then he reveals a happy ending DLC. The biotards turn, their eyes filled with tears of hope and regret "Oh, Casey! I knew you'd come back! Don't ever do this to me again!"

Calling it now :smug:

49 more posts before ME thread overtakes Best Thread Ever.

That's not an accurate comparison as BTE is on it's third part and the ME thread is an amalgamation of several.
Yeah, you're right on both counts, but it's still quite significant because this would become the absolute longest thread on the forum (from a purely technical perspective).

I would like to take this chance to weigh in now that I have beaten the game and seen these endings everyone is up in arms over, both warranted and otherwise.
But why would my opinion matter? In no effort of ego, I would argue that I am what you could call an expert in story-telling and video game retail. As per this claim, I submit the following credentials-

Scholarly-
*Licensed English teacher, with emphasis on creative writing and literary studies, inclduing Science FIction, British (Medieval) Literature, and Gay, Lesbian, Trans-Gender and Queer Literature
*Phi Theta Kappa liberal arts and sciences national honor society member
*Cumulative grade point average in college literature and writing classes is 3.87, in over 108 credit hours over 6 years in two colleges
*Highest graded paper in the 37 year history of Film Analysis at a local college at 98% for an analysis of Creature From the Black Lagoon.
*Currently teaching Intro to Creative Writing, Creative Writing Fiction, and Creative Writing Screenwriting at a university, will be teaching 9th and 6th grade English/Language Arts starting January 2013

Retail-
*Human Resources manager and Electronics Supervisor for two years at Toys R Us
*Assistant Manager, Gamers, Inc for one year
*Wal-Mart electronics associate, one year
*Gamestop Senior Game Advisor, current (one year approx.)
*Retail commendations-
Joy Maker, TRU service award (three awarded in 2005, six in 2006)
40% Goal rating, three months running (Gamestop, average/normal goal is 12%)
Five “Good Job” awards, Wal-Mart

With that out of the way, I would hope that my experience grants me some element of respect in these fields. Now, shall we dive in to the matters at hand? I will make this first post the “literary” response to fan outcry and issues, and follow it in the second post with my responses to Mass Effect 3's ending controversies as a retail veteran.

yeah I know, great stuff

rest is kinda tl;dr for me because I didn't play the game but I'm sure my popamole bros can find something fun to quote

If that thread is correct, half the fucking BSN are literature majors. A bunch of pretentious liberal artfags who've supposedly studied the classics of world literature and still think Bioware writing is anything but uninspired. It's the stuff of nightmares.

Writing lesson from a Wal-Mart hack... sweet.
Don't be so hard on Mac Walters.

Of course that post is promptly drowned in a sea of "don't be rude, you meanie" type replies.

God, I fucking hate these people.

I had to take a Literature course as a written requirement, and this behaviour does not surprise me in the least. The majority of the students who were the most keen to "study" the material had little or no interest in what the author was trying to say or how he said it, and instead invested all of their energy in trying to twist the message to support their agenda. I had to sit through a ten minute rant where one girl unashamedly stated that Kafka's Gregor Samsa was gay, based only on the evidence that he had a girl's picture on his wall--which obviously means that he was overcompensating and was not willing to admit his deep-seated manlust to society. This girl was also the top of the class. Hey, maybe she was right. After all, I am no arts major.

And there were so many god damned scarves in that room.

It only makes sense that these people would gravitate towards Mass Effect. I don't care that they only prop this game up because it supports their political views. I care because they are willingly putting on blinders so they don't have to deal with the inconvenient fact that the series is extremely derivative, brings nothing new to the table, and examines these issues in ways that have been done thousands of times before by those infinitely Bioware's superiors.

Steps to Being a Successful English Literature Student:

1. Receive book/story.

2. Pick a popular issue of the present.

3. Put that issue in your analysis.

4. SO DEEP.

Seriously though. I have a mixed relationship with alternative interpretations. I'm open to some, but at the same time you have to not completely throw out what the author intended. But on the other hand, sometimes the alternative theory is a good one, such as Fahrenheit 451. If you went with the author's intention, the book was about TV being evil.

For the most part though, at least when it comes to English Lit students, they just pick a controversial, but popular issue and force it into their analysis. Currently that would be homosexuality. If transsexuality becomes more accepted, it will take its place in the classroom.

And this is not to say that either an alternative interpretation for a story being a homosexual or even transsexual allegory is always wrong; it's just overused as a subject among student analysts.
