...anyone recognize the game box on the shelf behind him?

Black, title in yellow at the top, backside visible to us?

It makes me think of the first Ultima Underworld box, but it's just a close match.

I have to agree, that video has almost changed my mind in a few ways about this game after 105 pages, shitty console videos, DNA(!) talk and playing the MP open beta.

Using mouse and keyboard makes it look like something I can relate to. Looks faster than I expected, didn't see a lot of takedowns or cinematics. Fast weapon switching.

I didn't analyze the video, just watched it once but as was discussed that was quite the arena/clear the room example but then he went ahead down a corridor and did some more things, changing the pace. Sometimes you just want to play a mindless shooter that doesn't annoy you. Kill some stuff and have some fun while getting stressed out. Something that has been hard to do for a long time.

In fact I felt like that last weekend and played a few hours of the new Shadow Warrior but it felt like it was missing something. It definitely has that clear the area, relax and look for loot then find the next area thing. Maybe this won't have too much of that.

I'm going to assume that the player was in God mode or just really good at it as I understand you need to be quick to and to the point in a video. Still worried about the level design, and the whole health and ammo thing. You need to be in a high level of tension for good chunks of the game. Wanting to find the next gun, the ammo you need for your fave weapon and health. Never sure if you'll make it, what the next monster looks like, the next environment, all of that. It sounds simple but obviously isn't as the last decade has shown us.

As you can tell, I want to believe but after all that advertising talk and slow videos from beth you just know it's all going to be bullshit.

See how it goes but that was the best video I've seen so far, they made it actually seem like it could just possibly be a fun romp. I'm so confused but obviously still leaning towards thinking it's going to be yet another disappointment.

Maybe this was their marketing strategy for PC gamers all along. Show us and let us play a bunch of tedious console shit, and then at the last minute demonstrate a video that makes the game look actually okay once that our standards are so low.

Definitely makes the game look a lot better than before, but whats with the translucent paintball gun?

(though strictly speaking I guess a realistic plasma gun is a lot like a paintball gun)

The enemies with the shield, the plama shooting ones and the laser shooting ones are okay but it seems 99% are melee guys that don't offer much of a threat, dunno if it is just an starting arena or what.
At least your character can jump higher and move faster than an arthritic granny this time.
The enemies remain kinda hard to distinguish from each other, their art design is for sure generic as it can get.
The area lockdown thingy reminded me alot of Painkiller.
The fight in arena -> corridor -> fight on another arena thing is not Doom. It reminds me alot of Painkiller and Serious Sam, better than CoD but still big decline from old Doom.
The game looks like a Painkiller without the varied and interesting places and enemies to shoot and a Serious Sam without the number of enemies and the challenge, basically a nerfed arena shooter made for the modern console FPS crowd.
The hell theme is lame on this game, where is the creepy technosatanism of doom? If someone told me some artist of World of Warcraft decided to make a cartoony hell dungeon FPS, I would totally believe it is Doom 4.
Seems Bethesda strategy of shitting out mediocre popamole FPS to console peasants and sell them like MacDonalds sells hamburgers to overweight children with zero taste is on full spin here.
It could be worse, it could be 100% Call of Doomy.

That PC gameplay on the Vulcan-Titan-whatever-the-fuck-its-called actually looked good.

For some reason I find it really funny that the deep voiced robot has both a first and last name. Samuel Hayden, robot gentleman.

The unadulterated corp-speak and buzzword salad here seriously makes me want to vomit.

I watched it because of your comment and by god, that was great. I tailored the experience of watching to my preferences by using speed module, because NuDoom videos allow you that freedom.

On a serious note - why is it that every developer assumes vast knowledge of the developed product in question from the viewer?
And how many times can you say " ... you know" in 4 minutes?

It could be because this video is not targeted at mass audience, it's for those who've been following the game.
