I already mentioned how "resourceful" Bethesda are in a previous post.

No one here is paying attention to your feeble 'plant' efforts BTW. The date is set, the code is ready, at best they can squash a few bugs and optimize performance before the Almighty Release Date, but even that may be wishful thinking.

The 'problems' with the game that are the cause of the deluge of bad reviews is that the game fails to live up to expectations from the ground up. People wanted a modern-day Doom, but what they're getting is a Halo knock-off. What Bethesda would have to do at this point is scrap the entire game and start from the beginning...except they've already done that with an older build of this game because it felt too much like Call of Duty.

I'm not trying to plant anything. I'm just saying that id and Bethesda are big studios with a lot of programmers involved so in a month they could change some negative aspects of the MP, if they want to do it. We'll see if they will do it.

Id aren't even developing the multiplayer, it's Certain affinity.

Also Doom is pretty well optimized since I can run it 60fps all settings on high with a 970+old i5

"Open beta" events these days mean "We're comfortable with what we're showing the mass audience". If you're seeing an open beta a month before launch, the only things that will end up changing are bugfixes and, naturally, more content and assets.

Hell, even resourceful Bethesduh's own open beta of TESO is a wonderful indicator of their "open testing" policy. Sweet fuck-all changed between the FFA weekend and the actual release in terms of design choices, gameplay etc. For most companies, Beth included, "open beta" means "promo event".

If you're actually expecting them to change anything in a month's time, you must be pretty new to this whole thing.

By the time games get to this stage, core features are practically locked in place, and have been locked in place for a reasonably long time - several months, maybe years. A developer can do minor cosmetic fixes for PR, but it is not realistic to expect more than that. Lipstick on a pig, basically.

If you hear something like "By popular demand, and because we care about our fans so much, we have...", run.

Speaking of entire "it's just a beta" talk, I'll quote one of few reasonable posts from that apologia thread on Doomworld:

Okay, and I have to stop you there because as a developer, this really annoys me. I've explained this several times before, but Beta means they're not gonna change anything notable before release. At this point the game is in feature freeze and the game that comes out next month will be all but identical to the game that you're playing right now (save perhaps for some day 1 bugfixes that they release to the public).

Let me repeat that so there's no confusion. By the time a game is BETA, it is basically done and the people who made it are not interested in adding any new stuff before it comes out! If they were, the game would be considered a pre-alpha or alpha release at the latest. Any games you think of that don't follow this mold (eg Minecraft) don't follow it because their developers understand the distinction between "alpha" and "beta" only as badly as you do.
It was conveniently ignored by most posters, as is often the case when someone raises similar points in response to "IT ES JUST A BETA".

Seriously if you're a grown man and use the word "toxic" without following it with "avenger" then just give up on life now and do us all a favor.
If you're still following "toxic" with "avenger", you are probably not a grown man. A real man follows "toxic" with "waste".

Oh I do hope that this turns out to be extremely moddable. At least it can become fun that way.

They said that the only modding to be done in the game will be through the in-game map editor, so I have some doubts.

CrapMap is all we're going to get, they are pretty clear on that. I am also doubtful about there being enough fan interest in Doom and id tech 6 in order for fans to engineer some sort of real unofficial editor, which is something a lot of people seem to be hoping for.

TES is a mess.

Like Star Wars, you can just throw any shit into it and its zealous fans will gobble it up unquestionably and cry for more DLC.

But this thread is about Doom. id Software is a mess.
