Awesome! 4 Steam keys and two standalone games. That's really a great deal, especially as I didn't own any of those games before :).

I don't know if this has been highlighted yet (searched the past few pages for "because"), but there's a pretty hefty cross-promotion sale going on:

    Because We May

Developers asserting their right to discount their own games, or something. I'm too lazy to read.

Tons and tons of discounted games on Desura, iOS, direct from the developer, all kinds of places.

    A few highlights:
    • Numen: Contest of Heroes $2.49 ($9.99)
    • Conquest of Elysium 3 $19.4 ($29.99)
    • Frayed Knights: The Skull of S'makh-Daon $10.11 ($22.99)
    • Telepath RPG: Servants of God $14.95 ($24.95)
But there's seriously too much to list. Just go check it out.

Tex Murphy games are 50% off on Good Old Games.

Awesome oldschool FMV adventure games (that do not suck). Think Bladerunner, only funny, with a great main character who does self-deprecating film noir right.

And while we're on the subject: Project Fedora. The original developers (and Tex Murphy!) are trying to Kickstart a new game. (You have to love the giant anti-DRM and anti-DLC banners.) You can grab it now for $15. That is unless not enough people pay, in which case you won't be charged anything and there'll be no new game. So, back to GOG!

Got mail from Gamersgate that Void is launched but still no access yet. Too many people trying to play for free it seems. Watched a video on youtube and theres seems to be some good games from the start to play for free, like Majesty 2, Risen, Men of War etc..

Anyone knows if Frayed knights is available only on the dev site or are there other options for getting it, too?

    Edit:
It's on Desura, as well, and even a bit cheaper it seems (unless some tax will be added on check-out)

As far as I know, it's only from the dev site.

For someone who's totally new to those types of games (uh, hardcore strategy I guess?), which of those two would you recommend (EU or HoI3)? Basically, which is more newbie-friendly?

Thanks. Purchasing now. I'll start playing all these Paradox games once I finish up with Dragon's Dogma.

Gothic series seems to be on sale at Gay-mer's Gate. $3 for G2+expansion.

Not sure whether it's a good price, but Risen is $5.99 on amazon this week.

Best I've seen it. Eventually it might hit $5 but, meh.

The DRM for risen started working near the end of the game so I never finished it. Too bad for them that by all accounts the last part is the weakest part.

Just play risen using gamersgate's void thing. It actually works great.

I really wonder if DS3 is worth the price. On the edge of buying but everything about is is so mixed I don't know.

I got it for $5, it's not terrible. The combat is decent but it's entirely linear, itemization is pretty bland, and the story is fairly generic and uninteresting. If you do get it don't bother with the expansion -- it's just more of the same and you really won't be dying for anything more than the 15ish hours or so the base campaign delivers. Played it once and since have had zero desire to go back and play again as another character/class.

Oh, btw, it is Steamworks so if you have some Gabe-a-phobia you don't want to buy it as Steam is required to play.

DSIII is the worst game I've played in years.

    - Boring story.
    - Boring characters.
    - Boring setting.
    - Boring action in an action-game.
    - Interface is a fucking mess and that is being nice.
    - Gameplay is all around shit, really.
    - I thought the aesthetics were crap, but that's just me.
