In order to make TOW2 better is design it like immersive sim and create stealth gameplay with interesting levels.

They shown a weird tech goggles that reveal invisible enemies in the trailer that looked quite interesting. It reminded me of Dishonored 2.

My introduction to Adler was him tard wrangling in the Pillars documentary.
Mine was when he got wiped by beetles in the first PoE demo. And at some later demo he forgot to pick up some loot from dead guards in front of Raedrick's castle. Some people in the audience started calling "Loot! Loot!", so he went and picked it up. Later on someone criticized him on the forums for missing the loot, saying he can't play his own RPG. What impressed me was that he chimed in and somewhat annoyed with being called out as a bad RPG player, apologized for not picking up loot while doing a 30 minute gameplay demo where he has to look out for a hundred other things

I admit the trailer was mildly amusing and looked good, but what's that old saying - "fool me once .... "?

They'll have to work quite hard to dig themselves out of the abyss of meh that was the first game.

First time I saw the trailer I just tuned it out because of the dialogue and music. Went back to actually pay attention to it because of the replies here and it looks okay. The colors seem to be a better than the original game at least, even if it seems a bit less unique. But gameplaywise it just looks the same. The gunplay wasn't ever really a problem on the original, it was serviceable, the real issue was that there were no real enemies worth fighting. Game was just trivially easy with very little enemy and gun variety. Adding a few more quirky science guns isn't gonna be enough to make it better.
But the really important thing would be the writing and the trailer shows none of it. Apparently Earth is gonna be more prominent in this one? I would've prefered if we just didn't know what happened to it and making the problem revolve about the fate of the entire galaxy rather than the system seems a bit too much, but I dig the idea about the warping tech causing issues. Reminds me of the old Evolve lore, how every time the drive was used it was like a nuke going off in another dimension and pissing a bunch of aliens off. I'm pretty sure the idea there was making the technology unusable but basically plunging humanity into another dark age. Wonder if they'll do a similar choice for the endgame in this?

Yeah, and also have better writing. And better art direction. Oh, and was the soundtrack shit too? I dunno but I'm going to assume it was, so have some better that too.

And at that point, hell, might as well have a better name...

You see what I'm getting at?

Look man I’m starving for scifi RPGs so I’ll probably play this but I doubt this is going to do anything different or better from the first game.
Don't play it then, if you know it'll be shit. You're wantonly giving them your money for a lazy product.

I didn’t say that. Haven’t paid for an Obsidian game in years and doesn’t look like that will change any time soon.

You must be some combination of young, poor, or foolish if you value your money more than your time spent on bad games.

If you wait 10 years and if Obsidian somehow survives, they'll still be mentioning KOTOR 2 and New Vegas, but nothing from this period.
Well, Disney is lending licences and now with Microsoft it will be easier to make KOTOR 3.

Make the Codex Great Again!
The Outer Worlds was infuriatingly boring. I've never been so enraged and yet so sleepy at the same time.

I definitely don't need "more" of that.

Yes spending all your time on Codex talking about bad games is clearly the act of a superior life.

I agree. First game felt like an immersive sim lite lacking almost all its gameplay components. It featured a weirdly bland ass gameplay.

Also a fetch quest where you aid an Indian asexual in getting her bean flicked by a massive lesbian.

The trailer even went with the same type of referencing as before—the kind that turned out to be deceitful and superficial, with quite a few half-assed or outright empty promises.
It really rubs salt in the wound left by the lies of the first one, doesn’t it?
Shaking my head—almost as if Obsidian served, unbeknownst to themselves, as inspiration for depicting some of the bad corporations in their game.
Their creation ends up being like a can of food that's supposed to offer well-rounded nutrition but instead poisons everyone—factory workers and consumers alike :P

I mean, the trailer is kind of cool, same vibe as the 2021 trailer, taking the piss abit out of itself and the industry etc.

Is the game gonna be good? I mean if they improve on virtually every pat of the first game, it might be. TOW 1 was aggressive mediocre in large parts, and suffered from lack of money and time to develop it further.
If TOW2 has this, then the game might actually be fleshed out and good.

Obviously if you dislike the artstyle, and general vibe of the world, aint nothing gonna save it for you, but for me, I generally was fine with the universe and worldbuilding, it just needed alot more time to cook.

The little jab at fallout 3 part 2 (new vegas) in the trailer, makes me think the team is hyper aware of the fact, that people actually wanted TOW 1 to be New Vegas 2 in space, but didn't get it.

This time around, we might actually get just that? The trailer certaintly doesn't discourage me from that opinion at the time of writing.

we'll see come 2025.

Very very causiously optimistic (who we kiddin dis gon b GUD)
