Playing it safe means not overextending, not just making everything shallow.

I mean, are we just gonna pretend that there's no overlap here? You really have to thread the needle to avoid overextending yourself without making everything shallower.
Which means wasting budget on dialogue about how some dude named his lizards like song of fire and ice characters?
Or on Parvati quest?
or

u get idea i howp.

Onward to monarch.

Quick quesiton, content wise, should i give Phileas location away? Do some quests get locked that way? Or, if I should do it, when should I do it?

Playing it safe was playing it smart in this case. I don't think the game would be much improved with 5 more hours of content, but it sure as fuck would be a 3/10 trash tier if it was a buggy mess in addition to all the other flaws it already has.

The Obsidian cope:

"Pillars of Eternity was kind of disappointing, but the sequel will be so much better."

"The Outer Worlds was kind of disappointing, but the sequel-"

(though at least one of the DLCs might be decently written if history repeats itself; "Fearg's not looking, let's get crazy")

TOW has better combat than PS:T.

There are a lot of not-so-good RPGs with better combat than Torment, it's not a high bar to clear.

Outer Worlds will have dlcs or expansions? I thought they will move on to the Microsoft project to prepare for the next console or something.

So, if your MC's Intelligence is very high but their Temperament (WTF is that?) is below average, they start with low Engineering because Intelligence doesn't add to Engineering at all?

I mean it's a good game, and overall I like it, but this skill system is as broken as it could be.

P.S. Adding insult to injury, the very first Engineering check on Supernova is 46 while Persuasion/Lie checks are 5 or less.

Actually, I don't know that for sure. But I googled to check if there are ways to boost Engi (besides drinks/food) and somewhere it was mentioned that, apparently, the check I'm talking about is supposed to be 38. But it's definitely 46 in my game.

It's for fixing a broken robot near the first town.

Oh that.
I think there is an option to have Parvati fixing it as well if you can't.

That's not the first engineer check. The first one is the one you get when talking to ADA first time, which is also a 5.

Where do you guys even find this stuff ? Are you googling "Outer Worlds bad" hoping to find some deadbeat streamer with 5 subscribers that has some complaints?

Anyway, I gave up on replaying it - once you roughly know where everything is, the difficulty becomes laughable. I would have to try to not metagame things, stop taking advantage of combat mechanics and basically deliberately play badly for the challenge on Hard to be above 0%. :? Also Edgewater, Groundbreaker and Roseway where fun to replay, but I couldn't stomach Monarch. I don't know what it is, you'd expect the biggest open world map to be fun, but it's just such a fucking slog.

I think the combat can become good with patches, since the core mechanics are solid - weapons feel good and feel different to use, weakspot system means you're not just blasting shit at random, science weapons allow for some fun combos. But right now you can blast through the game on hard while having 0 points in weapon skills. It's gonna take a lot of work to fix this shit.

It was much better.

I gotta say it. They need Josh involved in a sequel or DLCs.

Most gameplay complaints seem to pertain to weak elements in TOW that Josh nailed in New Vegas.

https://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/the-outer-worlds

82 critic score average
80 player score average

Also, the vast majority of the positive reviews are from release day and obviously from people who've barely, if at all, played the game. The more recent reviews are fairly uniformly yellow/red.

I predict the game will end up with 7.9 or 7.8, which is at or below the level of Greedfall.

Care to come and come back and accept your shame JDR13 & jf8350143 ?

Now the same score as Greedfall and going down.

What is this I'm seeing? We're discussing the game's metacritic scores? What the fuck are we? The fucking IGN boards?

Someone linked the video I posted on a Discord I visit, may have been the youtuber himself but I don't know. :|

The only good thing about this game is I don't feel bad about killing everyone.

Put off the game for now and wait to see if there will be any mod that turn female characters into cute anime girls with long flowing hair.
