Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
The game is fantastic.

So, is the gameplay better or worse than KotOR 2? How about the story and characters?
I'd say general gameplay is slightly worse than Kotor but it's not terrible. Combat, itemization and questing are acceptable and I like the exploration - the only reason I still play. As for writing and characters, Kotor is miles ahead, and I hate Star Wars. There's just something off with the writing in this game.

i said fuck to plot and flew to ice planet with monsters 4 to 12 levels higher than me. crafted assault rifle with my super high tech 5 levels higher than me that shoots black hole bullets ignoring all armor and half a thousand dps plasma faster shooting assault shotgun, inhailed around 8 different buff items and destroyed them all. my guns skill is about 20.

got level 19 power hammer as loot and some sciency stick stunning people. spehhs marines.

our next stop: yet another planet of 2 available ones completely irrelevant to the plot

And the writing is starting to piss me off too, it has the unmistakable stench of hair dye, estrogen and vegan farts, similar to Andromeda.

Why is that?
There's something about it, the vapidity, the constant attempts at wittiness, the verbosity, the "humour" (more like some socially awkward 20 year old girl's idea of what humour is)....It just feels as if most of this game was written by young women with jackshit life experience under their belt, not by 50 year old industry veterans.

As opposed to 20 yo basement dwellers with plenty of life experience writing half of codex favorites. :D

I'm pretty much suffering through the graphics, it's incredibly ugly, irritating and disorientating. And the writing is starting to piss me off too, it has the unmistakable stench of hair dye, estrogen and vegan farts, similar to Andromeda.

Andromeda writing was insufferable. Even if you tried to RP a no-nonsense PC, there were segments in which the humour was shoved in. Didn't help most of your companions were of the lolrandom or I'm-so-clever-and-funneh variety...

That's pretty bad, considering that Kotor gameplay was worse than story mode.

How can you even compare them? KOTOR gameplay is NWN RTwP combat mashed into a third person perspective, this is Fallout: New Vegas meticulously recreated in the Unreal Engine.

I think most people would say the latter was at least slightly better except for the most hardcore Gamebryo haters.

Sure, I'd be the first to point out writing in most games fucking sucks. In fact I usually am the first to point that out. Writing in most indie cRPGs is basically meme-grade.

That said you DO have different expectations from Obsidian in general and Cain/Boyarsky specifically.

I’m only a couple hours in, but (to the extent it’s comparable) the gameplay is miles ahead of KotOR2’s garbage RTwP system. Although that’s not saying much.

How can you even compare them?

On the spectrum of not-fun to fun rather than by specific genre. I actually enjoyed F:NV gameplay, so maybe I'll enjoy TOW?

The shooting is more fun than New Vegas for whatever that’s worth.

You should have learned not to expecting anything from anyone in gaming industry anymore, maybe you'd even like the game if you were approaching it without any expectations. Goes for life too. :)

I wish there were more stupid Codexers so that me telling everyone this game would be shit from the get-go would have been a hot take.

So apparently this game does have item level requirements after all? If so I was wrong about that. There's some legit decline for you.

Really? I haven't encountered it yet.
I'm guessing you can tinker items to be above your level?

Yeah it's weird that nobody else has mentioned it. RK47 says he found a level 4 gun in a box somewhere that the game wouldn't let him use.

Is there a mod or console command or something that will increase the max weight? Enjoying it so far but really don't want to deal with inventory management too much.

I thought the short haired girl was the first companion you'll get but that doesn't seem to be the case? So far I only found Parvati or something thanks to main quest.

Weird. So far I’ve been able to equip everything, including weapons and armor that are several levels above my character’s. He should try to equip another level 4 or up weapon because that one might just be bugged.

I liked the nice touch of companions crying in pain covering their faces when bombarded with aoe acid attacks

funny how location has giant DONT GO HERE marker on it and enemies are 10+ levels higher than me but why won't I go there game??
