My friendship Obsidian ended, Media.Vision is my best Friend.

Cyber Sleuth made complete drop TOW, maybe one day but now is time to grind for the Demon lords.

To be fair, I have an unhealthy amount of JRPG Platinium Trophies. Including FF X (and VII, XII, XIII, XIII-2, LR and WOFF, but they are all a joke compared to 0:00 chocobo), Star Ocean 4+5, a few Tales Games, Persona 4+5 and all Kingdom Hearts Games except 3 and Dream Drop Distance.

So, much so that hunderds of hour long JRPG's are nearly the only plats I actually have.

... Which may not be the healthiest gaming habit.

concept stellar bay looks dope, realized version is a bit of dope from a long distance...

That's pretty much the standard for every video game ever. Concept art looks great, in game version looks like crap.

Currently game industry doesn't have the technology to make in game model looks as good as concept art without pouring too much time and resources into it.

I don't think "technology" explains the horror shows of OW and Bethesda character generation. No there is some serious anti-talent involved in that.

the game didn't sell and failed horribly in cuckdex alternate reality

Even if someone dislikes the game I think they should be relatively happy it's a success, since it's a completely offline singleplayer RPG that feels like a finished product. Same with Greedfall. More of this is a good thing.

After all the praises here like "game is shit but main theme is awezum" I gave it a good listen... meh. Same melody for 3 mins, nothing too good/catchy/whatever, then slightly different melody for 1.5 mins... then finally it gets better at 4.37 mark then it too drags on then it cycles back to beginning melody for 2 mins more... meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh. Generic as fuck, as most things in this game.

ps: fuck subjectivity :D

"It's bad but at least it's not THAT bad" isn't a good quality standard.

I'm more talking about market trends. A lot of people think we're nearing the end of singleplayer one-time-purchase games from major publishers. The more success they have with games like Outer Worlds or Jedi Fallen Order, the more games like that we'll get. Some of them will be worth playing, even if others are not.

Outer Worlds felt very finished and polished on release. That's one reason the scope is much smaller. So I have no idea wtf you're on about here.

Yeah. In today's climate popularity of games such as Greedfall or Outer Worlds are a good thing. A small victory against the tides of darkness: MMOs and games as live service, promoted by Electronic Arts and surge of microtransactions championed by the EA, Ubisoft and Bethesda.

I suppose this is true to some length, and it’s good that they’re succesful, but if the game really is as mediocre throughout as everything leads me to believe, I’m not sure if more and bigger version of the same mediocrity is really something to be desired.

I mean, maybe Obsidian surprises with a sequel (though probably not), but I find it somewhat hard to believe they’d actually improve their formula all that much where it really counts as far as I’m concerned.

Putting the politics stuff aside, the main issues with the game as I see them are mostly tied into the lack of scope/budget. The weak faction play, the fact every location but Monarch feels simplistic, the lack of depth to certain systems and mechanics... it's all rooted in the game having a limited scope to get it polished and out on time. So a sequel funded by MS, which I actually think is likely now since this was a success no matter what the Codex thinks, could really improve on it. A sequel to this, with New Vegas' scope and some better writing, could be something really good. We'll have to see.

Either way though I meant generally... publishers seeing singleplayer non-service games succeed is a win. Doesn't mean they'll all be good, but some chances are better than no chances.

C'mon, that's not really true. Many single-player games have achieved blockbuster-levels of success for years, way before the whole MTX trend started, and publishers have never stopped being aware of this fact. The thing is that MTX and online games have a very good potential to bring in way more money than traditional SP games ever could, hence why this whole trend started in the first place.
