I gotta say Byzantium is a pretty cool concept.

They've put the big city basically at the endgame. Once you arrive after visiting all the scrappy towns where people are barely surviving, it's like wow, so this is how rich corporate assholes live. Drinking tea on fancy terraces while wearing top hats, building monumental houses with tasteful baroque interiors, while robot butlers are tending to pretty gardens.

Then once you investigate, it turns out the whole place is going to shit quickly much like everything else in the solar system.

8 11 variations of "cuck" in portuguese

:abyssgazer:

edit: lmao, they included the BR equivalent of "black" but forgot to include "nigger".
edit: found more instances of "cuck", this time allowing for bad spelling.

I like the thought that they hired a bunch of people proficient in languages and asked them, "How do you say cuck?"

The list has "tomboy" (marimacho) on it. I don't want to say Obsidian knew what they were doing, but...they knew what they were doing.

Give me the truth: is this game any good?

I'm level 4, still in edgewater. It feels more like "Bioshock Infinite with dialogue and stats" than New Vegas or Borderlands. Whether you think that's good or shit, is up to you.

Give me the truth: is this game any good?

I'm 18h , on Roseway
The game isn't trying to be move foward the genre and play safe but it's pretty well done overall with some little improvments compared to past tittles but some really rough

Worst aspect are the dificulty, its pretty easy , loot and exploration.
Loot is pretty garbo and i just ignore.. Exploration isn't rewarding due loot being dull.
And the game is insanely easy after some time. This hurts a lot because make part of CnC way worse.
Also town can be feel static, expection so far being Groundbreaker.

Imo Quests so far are pretty good , even the fetch have at least more than one way to complete them or serve some purpose in the main quest, area design is good , companions aren't amazing writting wise so far but the amount of banter , how much they're present mid dialogue or how sometimes you literaly let them talk by themselves is just impresive. No game had such good companion mechanic imo. The reactivy and companions are the best part of this game so far.

The skills system needs a some changes because you become too powerful , perks are mostly boring so flaws aren't that worth asides from make the game dificulty and have some flavour while playing. But some of them are pretty funny like Robophobia.

I thinks writting is hit or miss. I really like because i find the jokes fun , dialogue is pretty good because of the companions , they make much more dinamic and voice actor is pretty good too. But again if you don't like the jokes

I would give so far 8 /10. It isn't better than FNV so far but its better and hold my attention way more than PoE1 and Deadfire.

Useful tweaks at pcgaming wiki page (skippable intro video, remove chromatic aberrations, tune better AA, mouse acceleration and smoothing, UI tweaks, manual save in supernova difficulty, etc.)

They bothered into discovering the 11 different words for cuck in portuguese, prohibited of you using the name of your character that probably only you will see but didn't bothered into making a good game?:lol: Those priorities are gold.

I can't call my character "Corno Manso, xifrudo rei de 2019.", what a shame. Alright, Obsidian, you are truly dead to me.

Like someone said in the other thread (I think? Infinitron might be cuisinarting this shit up), it's probably a premade list they cribbed from somewhere. Doesn't make it any less bizarre since it's singleplayer, and streamers wouldn't want to get instabanned for calling their hero Bixinha Judiada.

How many female mechanics, repairmen or maintenance workers have you seen IRL?
Those jobs are specialized drone labor, while technically-minded women usually get better grades and education (not because men are dumber, but because women are privileged in our society), so they go into better-paid and prestigious positions in this kind of discipline. There is also the interesting discrepancy between how "free" a society is and the rates of women in IT and the engineering branch, in societies where women are more oppressed (think Islam) there are more women in these fields. My interpretation is that the pressure of freedom constraints your imagination and you tend to go with flow, so 90+% of engineers are men and 90+% of nurses are women in Norway for example, the most "free" country.

Or, rather, women have a completely different nervous system to men, and the female nervous system exists to nurture other living (empathetic) forms of being. Not machines.

I don't know if "nervous system" is the correct term, but suggesting that men and women might be psychologically and physically different is very haram in 2019, comrade. We are all equal. Celebrate the differences, for there are none. We are all the same. We are not the same.

the corporate worship and vomiting of slogans in the game hits disturbingly close to home sometimes

That word filter is probably publisher mandated by Take2/Private Division and was just copypasted. I doubt Obsidian would spend money on finding variations on the word cuck in every language on earth.

Honestly what's up with fetishizing killing all NPCs anyways?

The more freedom you have within the framework of a narrative, the better the role-playing.

This is a pretty good microcosm of the problem. The last few Obsidian games have felt like they were written by a bunch of people who had no life experience outside of the East/West coast upper-middle class. Every character has either felt like a stereotype, "based on a friend of mine from university :)", or both.

True for Dollarhyde (born and grew up in crazy-expensive San Francisco) and Patel (same in Houston, also appears to come from affluence), but Starks is slightly different. She grew up middle-class in a large North Carolina town, so still cushioned but a bit more grounded than the others.

Like you never had a wank over Gadget from Rescue Rangers

I am fascinated that someone does get paid for that though.

At least he's doing his job well. I never would have think some dude gringo would give a fuck to research all the 11 ways to say cuck and all the ways to call someone a faggot in portuguese.

Convincing the final boss in Arcanum: "See, you're about to make a drastic, irreversible decision based on entirely subjective factors! I have here a counter example that..."

Convincing the final boss in TOW: "Ooga booga. You go away or me smack you with big stick."

Grab the Codex by the pussy Strap Yourselves In Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
It's Microsoft's money now, and this seems like the sort of thing that they would go for. You can have a look at Mixer's guidelines to see what utter prudes MS are: https://www.ign.com/articles/2019/0...ized-for-seemingly-strict-clothing-guidelines

Mixer, the streaming platform that recently managed to sign on Ninja to stream exclusively on their service over Twitch, is being criticized for what some call strict and likely sexist clothing guidelines.

Mixer is owned by Microsoft. The clothing guide itself is split into three sections: “Family friendly stream,” “Teen Stream,” and “18+ stream.”

By Mixer’s standards, a family friendly stream must meet the standard of “clothing must cover [the] entire visible body from a few inches above the bust-line. It cannot be strapless and should show little to no cleavage.” Similarly, a teen stream is allowed to show “more than a hint of cleavage,” but clothing must still be strapless and cover “the entire body.”

The 18+ category is where things get noticeably more lenient. Streamers must have their chests covered “from the bust-line to the end of the rib cage,” crop tops are allowed, and strapless tops are allowed so long as it’s clear that the streamer is still wearing a top. Additionally, “situational appropriate clothing” is allowed, such as swimwear at a beach, and sports bra at a gym.

I approve of this though.
