Should I put point into another weapon or just focus on one ?
It's a bit more complex. Check what kind of special attacks you want first. Then check which weapons can be used to deliver those attacks. Then focus on those weapon skills 100%. Also, special skills require attribute values.

Increasing your weapon skills only increases your AT/PA (Attack/Parry) values. The real deal is in the special attacks, which deliver more damage, conditions or "guaranteed" wounds.

And Forgrimm should have
AT 13 (16 - 3 malus from shield)
PA 13, 19 (13 + 2 from the skill + 4 bonus from the shield)
But I'm sure I'm forgetting some malusses that come with shields. It doesn't seem to be Behinderung...*shrug*

Base parry value - 0,5 * effective handicap + Weapon skill + Weapon modifier (if any)

So if we take a look at Forgrimmdark,

Base Parry value = 10

Shield bonus = 4

Shield Parry bonus = 2

but he only has 14. So we're pretty much back where I started, does the bonus work but just not appear on the character sheet? (wouldn't surprise me, the NWN2 character sheet was fucked)

The first time I played RoT I was just putting points in different weapons without much thought, ah look I just found a wounding shortsword, time to put some points into swords etc. Don't do that. You won't get nearly the XP to fiddle around like that. Later I noticed that I've forgot to increase the stats on my chars so that they didn't have the required melee/ranged attack values to pick the best abilities. That sucked and it was too late to do much about it. I had to use one of the macguffins to weaken the demon because of this. Focus on one weapon and stick to it. e.g. two-handed hammers for Forgrimm, bow for the elf chick etc, increase your main stats sufficiently and a bit more if possible. Second time I killed the demon without using a macguffin at the highest difficulty level in merely 10 minutes(real-time). So, it really makes a difference.

Thanks, one weapon it is then, some times I'm too lazy to level up characters lol.

I'm really enjoying this game in spite of its flaws, and I really liked the way "leveling" works in it and the overall variety of options in character development, coupled with the fact it is possibly the last game ever made that allows for the player to customly develop the skills of the entire party, and despite its clumsiness it is much better combat-wise than any of the "RPGs" involving popamoling and/or shitty FPS combat mechanics. A pity about what happened to the developer though. Hopefully Pyranha Bytes won't end like that.

Another interesting element of it is that at the start, and even after it, depending on what kind of character you build, money won't come up easily. Getting enough to afford a knight's armor for example can take a very long time depending on how money is spent.

I think it is definitively better than Dragon Age and the best CRPG of 2010(I also think Risen is the best CRPG of 2009 like mentioned before and I'm not even part of the "mondblutian school"). If the combat mechanics totally suck and the way skills are developed is pointless, the game will inevitably suck because combat is one way or another the core of it.

The only segment of it that was really bad was the giant (mud)crab caves, but I explored them a bit prematurely in my playthrough.

I can't find yoruga root to make potions....

you probably need this plant lore skill at a high enough value, I mean this skill that shows those plans on your radar. Yoruga requires at least 14 iirc. Also it's not everywhere to be found.

OK I checked the wiki:
- display minimap: wildlife 6 required (but that's the bare minimum probably, where the plant only shows up if you literally stand on it, i still think you should have much higher wildlife)
- harvesting: penalty of 6 on plant lore

you can find them:
- 1 plant behind Laurelins house
- many plants: hunting district->stone bridge->turn right-> go over brook
- many plants: elf wood->fay wood-> on a tree and directly at the fay stone circle

And yes, you basically get your complete party at the very beginning of the game.

Starting to feel like in Orzammar from DA, huge filler combat you cant even avoid it, this part stinks and tons of puzzles but the rest of the game compensate making it a very addicting game with well done quests and dialogs.

I really like the look of female characters in Drakensang games, German developers should learn that from Radon Lab :M

Nice game and much better than the first one.

However I have hard time to keep my mages, ranged guys alive. Enemies always try to kill them first and ignore my tanks whatever I do. (Well I can always just take control of that char and run around until other chars have killed all enemies, but thats just stupid. :/)

And yeah, all female chars are way too busty, but otherwise they look good.

Yeah, one of the things that sucked in Drakensang combat system, and they didn't improve in RoT: you can't tank enemies because they will just move right thru your melee guys and go after the mages/archers.

Fastness of Body, do you have that spell? If you put enough points in it + wear a good leather armor your mage will have easily have the best armor class of all characters, better than dwarven full plate.

I'm having a great time with the game, and Nadoret already rank among my favorite RPG cities. French voice acting is hilarious (in a bad way) but that's almost a given.

If I didn't play The Dark Eye should I play that first, or just play this?

It's not a sequel. The events of RoT occur prior to TDE.

1008 BF: Startrail (Realms of Arkania 1)

1009 BF: River of Time

1010 BF: RoA 2 + 3

1032? BF: Drakensang

Yes and No. The helmet is really great and therefore it's very expensive. I think it was put in for people who are very much into looting. It is possible to generate lots of cash if you want to. It's not really necessary however.

For Mages and for Fayris you have the "Armor" spell. This gives them way higher armor values than the tanks. Also give them Shield or a high Tumble (Ausweichen) value and they will do quite nicely.

I also try to initiate combat from afar and first use special abilities to cripple the first wave and then focus on taking out enemies first. Less enemies means less attacks that cannot be parried and thus less wounds or damage.
