3 was cool because your sim could walk around the world and visit other houses.

Then 4 just did away with all of that and added LGBT mental illness.

I'm beginning to suspect The Sims 5 (project rene) was silently cancelled. There's been no word about it in a long time, and the Project Rene discussion section on the official forums was removed back in July.

There is a lot more news that the quote below. But this is pertinent.

The Sims Franchise - Live and Future Product Updates

When we talk about The Sims as an entertainment platform driven by our community, it’s because we see the future of The Sims as more than any one title. We’re expanding the franchise to better serve the diverse needs of the growing number of Simmers around the world. The Sims will move beyond linear, sequential Sims releases and offer more options for players than ever before. We’re focused on creating a variety of games and experiences that will touch different categories across the simulated life genre including cozy games, social and collaborative based gameplay, mobile narrative games and continued depth, improvements, and modernization of The Sims 4, which will continue to be a foundational Sims experience.

We’re creating new and innovative experiences that connect with players on their terms, wherever they are and however they choose to play. These explorations are being tested via The Sims Labs including individual features from Project Rene, a story driven mobile test, enhancements to The Sims 4 with discovery and search tools, creator tools, and more.

Confirmed. But it seems like it is going paid mods if it ever happens. Rene is not Sims 5, its apparently an expansion (or variety are retarded and misreported all of this).

Lmao
This is sad. They know they can keep milking retarded sims 4 players with barebones dlcs/content packs/whatever the fuck they call "adding a few objects" now.

I could not care less since I only play sims 2.

Cop-out corporate response from a studio without the talent to move the franchise forward into the next generation. "Muh diversity" "Muh mobile platforms" .. pathetic..

What I love about recent sims's additions is the quality of content. For instance, how likes\dislikes system for conversation topics works.

In sims 4 outcome of a joke depends on various factors. Like:

Poor players adding those likes\dislikes to characters - nuking all the meager simulation the game had.

Wasn't there some project to make Sins 3 engine not run like shit? Did it fall over and die?

There's the Smooth Patch too.

This mod alters the speed at which the game's processing runs, which improves the overall performance of the game and some loading times. Most noticeably in Create A Sim, Create A Style and Buy/Build.

I've been watching videos lately on comparisons between all 4 games.

Never realised just how many small details from Sims 2 were lost along the way. Kinda want to replay it now.

Next expansion pack on Halloween focussed on death. Mourning dead sims, inheritance, remembering and mourning family members, more ghost stuff, the ability to become a grim reaper yourself and more.

And on the subject, LGR suffered in Hurricane Helene when a tree fell on his house. His family is safe but the place's not doing great, and there's been some leakage into the basement where he keeps all of his relics.

Fat cuck will start asking for money soon.

The expansion looks like it could be fun though. The trailer was pretty good (besides the lesbo shit). Reminded me of some of their Sims 3 trailers.

Proper burial ceremonies, inheritance and stuff does indeed sounds better than a dating app expansion.
Still not buying Sims 4 tho

Weird game and fanbase this has turned into.

Watching the trailer it doesn't even look like it's for an expansion. It looks like someone made a machinima with the existing game and a few custom animations. Yet it seems like everyone wants to buy it based solely on the story shown in the trailer, without questioning the (lack of) content they're getting for $50. Read the comments on Youtube and you'll see what I mean.

EA should just cut the crap and introduce a Sims 4 story-mode for these mongrels. Give them a few re-occurring characters to drool over and sell episodes periodically in place of expansion packs. I reckon most Sims 4 players would lap it up in droves and wouldn't know the difference.

Actually, first 2 commenters are cautious about simulation quality.

Those comments are not phrased like genuine criticism and read more like unironic jokes, as they both imply they will be buying the expansion regardless of the issues already present in the game.

But consoomers gonna consooom. They will never genuinely care about simulation quality. Otherwise the first 2 comments would have been something like "I'm not buying it until weddings are fixed" or "I'm waiting for reviews before buying". Yet there's no comments like that in sight.

Gameplay trailer.

Once you die you can move on to a new neightbourhood to train your spooky powers, then be reborn. Though that raises the question: if a sim dies and moves on with a pregnant wife, will a sim be able to be reborn as his own son?

So you click the "Rebirth" button and you get taken directly to the default create-a-sim screen. That's it? No flavor at all? Not even a different backdrop or different lighting effect? And you can reincarnate as a fully grown adult? What the fuck is that shit? It's just an over-glorified New Game+ cheat code.

They should have made a place like this for your sim's soul to pass through with some old guy with cards who determines what your traits will be based on your previous life. And why not introduce a Karma system, as well? I want my sims to be punished with bad traits for being a cunt in their previous life.

The Sims 4 can't....stop... WINNING! Here is to another 10 years of fun!

EA Earnings: The Sims 4 Manages to Adds 15 Million New Players in 2024 Despite Being More Than 10 Years Old

https://www.ign.com/articles/ea-ear...-in-2024-despite-being-more-than-10-years-old
This comes from EA's Q2 earnings, which released today. The 15 million figure is fairly shocking for a ten-year-old game, even given that the base game has been free-to-play since 2022. For some perspective, it took The Sims 4 four years after launch to reach 20 million unique players (this was back when it was a premium game). When it first went free-to-play, it gained a whopping 31 million new players out of the gate, and reached a total of 85 million as of May 2024. It's not clear how exactly the 15 million gained lines up with the last count of 85 million to give us a new, current total, but that's still a heck of a lot of people.
