How does the game compares to Heart of Iron 2? I've always been uneasy about a series composed of the same game being remade over and over, as i'm never sure i'll ever play one once i play the other.

Damnation, since I own Penumbra games Amnesia would be $5, instead of the $10 I bought it at just before the sale. On top of that The Ball at $5 when I picked it up for around $8. My dollars!

Definitely going to pick up Greed Corp today and that's probably it.

Ended up just grabbing Swords and Soldiers and Greed Corp. Talked myself out of Amnesia -- figure I should try Penumbra from the Humble Bundle first to see if I at least like the style. That and after reading a couple of threads on the Codex the conventional wisdom seems to point to it being worse/easier/more gimmicky.

Ah well, five hours to new deals -- hoping for Half Life 1 package and Morrowind (amazingly I've yet to play it).

Just don't get discouraged by the beginning of Penumbra: Overture; the game and the series improves later on.

Well, today's deals are pretty bad. Don't bother with Hegemony because apparently they've been developing Hegemony Gold for a while so what you can buy on Steam now is just a trumped up demo of sorts. Rest of the stuff looks mediocre both content-wise and deal-wise.

Still no Divine Wind...

At least I got Victoria II to play with. Got through the tutorial...and I know for certain some poor Swedish programmer working overtime wrote it in the day before release. Seriously.

Been mentioned before but now the sale is wrapping up (last day is Sunday which will most likely be repeats) take some time to browse through the non daily stuff via the Steam search engine (you can sort by prices and isolate games or packs or whatever). Plenty of good deals like Evil Genius for $1.50, etc.

Looks like Hegemony Gold will be a free add-on for the base game, so if you're interested you'll probably get that later. In fact it has an installer for it in that thread. Not sure I want the game, but worth noting.

Edit: Well hell, correction. Looked at the Steam forums for Hegemony, and apparently it IS going to cost money. Ignore everything I said!

Played Swords and Soldiers for about an hour and enjoyed it so far. Obviously, as mentioned above, it doesn't have much depth but it is intended as a casual side-scroll RTS where you don't have to worry about micromanagement and such. For what it is, it is executed pretty well.

Re: Hegemony. Yeah, I'm not wild about people releasing half a game then asking for more money to fill it out a couple of months later. Not that I was leaning towards it as I'm not a fan of Total War type of games.

The free upgrade offer expired with the start of the Steam sale.

The plan is to release Hegemony Gold for $29.99 with an upgrade from Hegemony:Philip for $10, which is still a nice deal at today's sale price of $3

Lol -- so you basically have to pay $13 for it and charging $30 for the whole package (should someone not pick up the base for $3 today) is laughable. I'd bet anything it's crammed into a $5 indie pack at the Summer Sale after these guys start going broke.

Decent deals today. S.T.O.K.K.E.R. bundle of the two good ones for £3, 88% off. Jedi Knight Collection and Hitman Collection both at 75% off. Thank god I already have all of these, my backlog would be even more clogged after this.

EDIT: Actually, the Jedi Knight collection comes with Dark Forces/DF2 and Mysteries of the Sith. Buying.

Played most of the games in the Star Wars pack when I was younger, don't have the urge to re-buy/play. Stalker I've passed on numerous times in the past so maybe I'll bite this time although I'm not a huge fan of the setting. Other stuff doesn't really interest me -- maybe Graxia if there were a demo.

Is Anno 1404 with Venice addon worth 20€, or should I wait longer til the prices are even lower? In fact, is it worth anything as a game in general? I do enjoy an occasional city builder/economy sim, and the game does look pretty. The scores all over seem to be decent as well, but we all know their worth anyway. So... What's the verdict on this one?

Also, what about Theatre of War bundle, is it worth 10€?

Edit: Also, if you go with STALKER, I would really recommend playing the SoC with Complete mod, http://www.moddb.com/mods/stalker-complete-2009 The 2012 mod version might be ready already, not sure. The thing really did a lot for the graphics improvement and various gameplay additions (actually positive ones).

Anno 1404 is pretty good. Haven't bought Venice though but it adds multiplayer so I guess it's worth buying anyway.

Picked up the Hitman pack today, and Guardians of Graxia bundle since I heard good things about that and I like boardgame-esque strategy games.

Let me know how that goes if you get around to playing it anytime soon. I tried the demo to the Magic game on Steam but didn't really appeal to me (of course I've never played the actual card game version of it, either). The poking around I did on Graxia turned up a lot of negatives like four hours to complete a match, bugs, awkward game play, etc. If anything I'll probably just wait and see if it's ever crammed into a $5 indie bundle.
