They should have had some kind of function to limit the number of free games a person could win and distribute them a bit more evenly. The coupons were a terrible idea and should have been excluded entirely. Same for the coal, quite frankly. Or just disallow it from being traded. The problem I have with these stunts is that Valve is getting worse with their discounts using things like this to cover it up. Just give me straight up larger discounts and not stupid trading contests where the only people who benefit are those willing to exploit the system/spend 75% of their day hovering on Steam brokering deals for coal/games, etc. Steam is becoming less about major discounts and more an e-social platform with stupid gimmicks/

Well, I got 7-coal left over. Glad I didn't use it. And won three games which I guess is a high percentage? Though only one was non-Valve and non-already owned. Glad those suckers wasted all their coal. More chances for me to win. :smug:

Today's discounts are filtering in and, as expected: Recap day. Deus Ex HR, Bastion, Portal 2, SS3, etc.

So how many achievments did everyone get? I got 14 of them, although only 4 were for games I already owned. Out of those 14 prizes I got 2 free games.

29 achievements, 3 games (Blocks that matter, Orcs must die, L4D2) ton of useless coupons. Also forgot to buy HOI3 when it was on the big sale. Kinda meh overall.

Looks like the Amazon deals are pretty sketchy but they were forced to match some of the Steam repeats. You can get Deus Ex HR (which activates on Steam) for $11ish with one of the $5 coupon codes. Shogun for... like $2.50.

28 achievements done, including the steam ones. Got L4D, Recettear and the dreaded World Basketball Manager 2010 — my bet is that I won't be able to give that one away easily — and a fuckton of coupons. Still, I got stuff like The Ship or Hunted: The Demon's Forge from other people. Disapointing event.

Got two coupons 50% Valve, 50% From Dust and one game, the Tiny Bang Story.

Bought Defense Grid You Monster expansion, Dungeons of Dredmor DLC, and only one game - Avadon: The Black Fortress (which I have been having fun with so far). Had hoped to see Geneforge Saga with a bigger discount, but may still pick it up today.

Hmm, let's see. I bought:

Fable 1, Costume Quest, Psychonauts, Realm of the Diggle Gods, Defense Grid DLC, Derpus Ex HR + all DLC (on Gamer's Gate), Renegade Ops + DLC (Amazon), Arcania, and EYE for about $40ish. Won Jagged Alliance 2 Gold and Shadowgrounds (which I traded for Puzzle Chronicles). Still looking to trade JA2 Gold for maybe Bastion or something for $5ish.

Considering last minute deals. Maybe both Deathspanks for $15 since they never get 75% off discounts. Maybe Derp Island for $15 with an Amazon coupon. Maybe Penny Arcade games.

Oh, for purchases I picked up Magicka the Stars are Left, Dungeons of Dredmor DLC, Duke Nukem Forever, Defense Grid Portal DLC, Deus Ex DLC (Via gamersgate, not Steam), Train Sim 2012, Hard Reset, X3 Albion Prelude, Demolition Inc, Aaaaa for the Awesome, Edge, Dungeon Siege 3 DLC, Shogun 2 blood pack DLC, Puzzle Agent 2, Universe Sandbox, LA Noire.

Mostly a bunch of shit I'm not all that enthused about and if I wasn't such an idiot wouldn't have bought, but Dredmor DLC marked down was nice, and I'm looking forward to LA Noire on PC. Deus Ex DLC has unfortunately been a letdown so far. Not sure if I'm just not in a Deus Ex mood or what but haven't really been digging it.

I got 52 objectives completed, a fuck ton of useless coupons, and some shitty free games, like Fallout New Vegas (already had it), Left 4 Dead 1 (already have L4D2), Binding of Issac (right after I bought it), and OFP: Red River (didn't have it but meh, didn't really want it). I bought a few things on my wishlist, picked up some missing DLC, but most of my deals came from buying steamworks games on other sites like Dead Island ($10 bucks on amazon without coupon and 5 gift card) and Lord of the Rings: War in the North (Green Man Gaming).
Actually, my total list is kind of scary now that I review it:
You now own Tactical Enhancement Pack, Explosive Mission Pack, Dungeon Defenders: The Great Turkey Hunt! Mission & Costumes, Magicka: Gamer Bundle, Medieval II: Total War, Medieval II: Total War Kingdoms, HOARD, Dungeons & Dragons: Daggerdale, Rochard, Operation Flashpoint: Red River, The Ship, Gemini Rue, Men of War: Vietnam, Men of War: Vietnam DLC 1, Xotic, Section 8: Prejudice, Section 8 Prejudice: Blitz Pack, Space Pirates and Zombies, Section 8 Prejudice: Overdrive Map Pack, Section 8 Prejudice: Frontier Colonies Map Pack, Arcania: Fall of Setarrif, Bulletstorm, Rock of Ages, Alice: Madness Returns, DUNGEONS - The Dark Lord (Steam Special Edition), X3: Albion Prelude, Hard Reset, Greed Corp., E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy, Neverwinter Nights 2: Platinum, Neverwinter Nights 2 Expansion 1, Neverwinter Nights 2 Expansion 2, Neverwinter Nights 2: Platinum - Map Editor, AaAaAA!!! - A Reckless Disregard for Gravity, Costume Quest, Swords and Soldiers HD, Grotesque Tactics 2 - Dungeons and Donuts, Defense Grid: The Awakening - You Monster DLC, Tropico 4 DLC Junta, Chantelise, Realm of the Diggle Gods, Tropico 4, EDGE, Source SDK, Source SDK Base 2006, Source SDK Base 2007, Left 4 Dead, Secret Files: Tunguska, Secret Files: Puritas Cordis, Magicka: The Stars Are Left , Magicka: Holiday Spirit Item Pack , Anomaly Warzone Earth, Cargo! - The quest for gravity, Magicka: Horror Props Item Pack .

These Steam sales are like crack. So hard to say "NO!" when you see so much shit for $2.49.

I earned 15 achievements and got a bunch of coupons and DOTA 2. I then traded DOTA 2 for L.A. Noire.

I bought Dungeons of Dredmor + DLC and Terraria. Thinking about picking up the Deus Ex DLC.

Trading beta access to a game that is probably going to end up being free to play for a game that was $12.50 on daily deal doesn't seem like losing to me.

I hate when this happens. :M

But it's losing, dota 2 isn't coming out any soon and i've seen the key going for as high as $30.

Eh... the value of the Dota 2 betas crashed dramatically during this promo as tons of keys were given out.

This. I wasted about 45 minutes on the Steam forums trying to get decent trade. It was mostly full of people trying to dump off all their coal. My best offer was Deus Ex: HR, but I already own it so this was the next best.

I probably should have traded it earlier, but I held onto it not knowing what exactly it was.

I had more fun with the indie bundles from which I got three Blackwell games and Jamestown (not counting Super Meat Boy and other stuff I haven't played yet). In the Steam sale I only picked up Arkham Asylum... I'm at 39% right now and it's fun, but the "lol Joker is always one step ahead of you" formula is becoming a bit stale.
