Damn, Cities XL 2012 is now $9.99, and I bought it a month ago for $25...

Hm, Saints Row 3 or Serious Sam 3? Or neither? I hate this kind of decisions...

Serious Sam 3's first few levels are some of the worst gaming experiences in existence. After that it is basically the same as the older games but with better graphics. Very much a PC-friendly game, too, with tons of options and what not.

I keep waffling on The Walking Dead. I remember reading Jurassic Park was horrible, but this one was alright. I don't want to go around youtube videos like I do for most my games because I feel like I might ruin the plot and experience. An odd catch-22 of sorts, I guess.

I give Walking Dead my seal of approval, though it doesn't have much in the way of puzzles and the C&C is dialog/cosmetic (so far, at least).

Mmm, more tasty indie puzzler turds...keep em coming Gaben! Oh Saint's Row is being recycled as a daily deal again. Let's take bets on how many more times during this epic sale it will be wheeled out!

Oh, fuck it. Just learned Darkness 2 has a group pack. I'll see if I can wrangle a $10 copy then. Strangely enough that $2 pushed me over the edge. Wasn't all that interested but I generally like dumb shooters and I've heard some good things about it, and $10 is "Ok" for dumb shooter price range.

New flash is Civilization series. $25 gets you everything Civ 5 (maybe not the most recent expansion, too lazy to check -- in fact, I don't even know if it's been released) + Civ 4 + Civ 3. Anyway, Civ 3 for $1.24 is nice if you've never played the series.

Note that Amazon is selling Civ 5 GOTY + Civ 4 Complete + Stronghold collection for $20.
:rage:

Missed out on Civ IV sale. AGAIN.

I want to become acquainted with stealth games other than Thief, so buying Hitman Collection.
The first can be buggy, whack and frustrating. The second is far too easy. The third isn't on steam, but was mostly old levels redone with more choices, due to flashbacks. The fourth is pretty decent and has the most different ways of going about missions. I just wish the game had a bit more thief in it, or thief had a bit less paranormal in it.

Bastion was an okay purchase in the Humble Bundle for $6 along with the other games. Separately, in hindsight, dunno if I'd pay even $3.75 for it. It turned out to be far too 'arcade-y' for my tastes. I still haven't finished it.

It is a good shooter. Yeah, yeah linear corridor shooter and all, but surprisingly fun and I really dig the art style. A bit short I guess(no Max Payne 3 style epic here) but I can see myself firing it up from time to time to satiate my blood lust. SS3 is what I really would like though.

The monocled gamer would also consider the Death to Spies games. A mix of Hitman and Commandos. Very good series plus you get to kill Americans and Limeys in some missions. Not on special on Steam at the moment but you can get a free version of Death to Spies on the GG site if you sign up for a 'Void' slot to check out if you want. It's a bit clunky like the first Hitman in interface, and a bit rough, but don't let that stop you from giving it a go.

Darkness 2

it's kinda short and has a little too much dream bits for my taste but knowing these might help

-it's really gory in a comicbook kinda way, you can grab enemies and then tear them in half vertically, then chop the part you're still holding in half again, pull off heads with spines still attached, etc
-exp system with different ability trees to level up, you generally get more exp for melee savagery/using powers than simple shooting to death
-you eat hearts to regain health
-there is a whorehouse level

Only way I'll get Darkness 2 is if it's part of some big Amazon bundle with other stuff I actually want. Otherwise: highly consolized FPS that's... what... three hours long? Yeah, it looks nice but, no thanks.

Since I've never actually played any monkey island games..

..now's a good chance to grab em.

You're in for a treat. The best Monkey Island moment for me was the sword fighting in the first game.

Trying out Two Worlds II (going to review it and the expansion). The game is... man, I dunno. In some respects it's a competent Gothic clone, and at times very pretty, but the combat sucks, the controls kinda suck, the writing is all over the place in terms of quality and tone... it's got heart in some senses for sure, and the mechanics are promising, but even stuff like the inventory can be a pain to use. That said, with tweaks (mostly to the camera, removing DOF, etc.) it gets a lot more playable.

Ah well, maybe it gets better once it opens up more?

Great, now I've really been talked out of getting Two Worlds 2. I'm going to spend like $10 total during this sale.

hey, maybe amazon will surprise with a deal or two, you never know

it's like if stephen king did his worst 'LOST in small town setting' writing impression plus lots of murder hiking filler where all the cinematic shadow people have axes
nice lighting engine though right
