75% off sale on Steam Photoshop, only $175!
I'd actually buy that shit.
I can imagine the Achievments:

Lazy: Use auto-color, auto-levels or auto-balance 10 times.
No time for names: Have 10 unnamed layers.
I like to live dangerously: 2 hours without saving.
That didn't work: Hit Ctrl-Z 10 times in a row.
Fuck, I forgot!: Change a ongoing image from CMYK to RGB.

Sooo what happens when you cheat in a game and Steam bans you from all your software that you bought through Steam?
Doesn't happen. If you get VAC banned for cheating, the ban only prevents you from playing on VAC enabled servers. You can still play all your software singleplayer or multiplayer on non-VAC servers.

Been playing DarkStar One and the consensus I read on it was pretty accurate. Overall the game is fairly generic. It's a shame because they had a really good framework to make a quality game but ultimately you just do the same type of generic missions to earn money to buy upgrades for your ship when you level... which can only be done by finding artifacts... which are scattered throughout the universe... which is only unlocked a sector at a time in main quest gateways. Ultimately you have to be combat oriented so I really don't know why they have trading (you make more than enough killing the throngs of pirates out there) or espionage type missions. They just seem like a throwaway so the developers can say: look, other stuff!

That said, I went into it expecting an arcade space shooter and not a deep X-series like simulation game. Hopefully the revamped forthcoming X game will create a nice medium (well, more heavily skewed towards X just not buried in a sea of micromanagement) but with Derp Silver publishing I'm not very hopeful.

Anyone know of any Freelancer/Privateer type games out there? Evochron Mercenary looks promising but I'm waiting for the guy to launch the next 'standalone' expansion.

Serpent in the Staglands Codex USB, 2014 Shadorwun: Hong Kong
Im still pushing with Rage, 4 and a half hours and counting. Dead City next. Still no "story" or aim with the game, there some talk of Resistance and Authority but didnt see them yet. Did find an Authority Assault rifle in the bunker mission. But no sign of any of them. Now off to dead city to find a bettter instawin revival button.

And so far along feels like something from PopCap, like Bejeweled of shooters. Casual if you can say that. Slow tempo, cant die, cant get lost, easy missions, not a single moment where I felt Im lost or fucked. Nothing to worry about, just tag along and game will play itself. But where is really failed is that ID trademark action, going with the popamole direction probably cause it would be too hard for xboxers to get on with the tempo.

Biggest fail so far is the race for the new car where you get 6(yes, six of them) instawin bombs that destroys all other cars just by rightclicking your mouse. I mean, really???

Guess I expected more.

There's a distinct lack of middle ground games out there and it's all for the worse. X has got far too much to do with empire building and Dark Star is basically a shooter. For all my love of Freelancer, it also didn't really hit a happy middle ground.

There are some new deals on Steam ATM, but they are sort of hidden and not advertised on the front page. Magicka, JA:BiA, and some other stuff.

Thanks for the heads up. I may grab Dungeons for $6 despite hearing awful things. Definitely gonna look at Nexuiz while it's free.

Nexuiz doesn't loook like much of a much. It's fast non-popamole multiplayer FPS at least, but sure as shit isn't better than Quake 3 at it, and doesn't have Unreal's variety to give it something different. Probably not worth it. Did a medium bot match (Figure nobody will be playing it within a week or two so may as well see how the bots are now if I'm going to decide on a purchase) and crushed them easily despite not knowing the map/weapons/mutators. Finished the round off with a double-kill rocket which was apparently so badass it completely crashed the game. Bleh.

I did like the spawning weapon though, shotgun with infinite ammo. LMB is a wide spray, RMB is accurate. Didn't shoot a wall to see if it was slugs or just a narrow spread but whatever the case it was a really good spawn gun.

Dunno about the third but second was addicting, recommended. Although Pirates! would be a better choice imho, for a beginner.

Yeah, honestly the 2nd can be had for $5 base and probably $1 or so when it's on sale. I'd wager there isn't much of a difference other than graphics, either.

is tropico 4 + modern times good compared to tropico 3?
Difficult question. It's pretty much still the same game. A few things work a little bit better in basic Tropico 4 than Tropico 3. Tornados take too long. As for Modern Times, I like some of the additions, but most are rather pointless, and the timeline feature that makes older buildings unavailable is retarded. But, as I said, it's more or less still the same game, and it also more or less looks the same, except that the graphics got somewhat worse (engine change).

Edit: Oh, and the jokes are worse. If I could, I would make some mix of 3 and 4, but unfortunately, that's not possible.

Eventually I plan to pick up a Tropico game but I've been leaning more towards 3 than 4. Your post pretty much sealed it as going with 3. Minimal differences and I hate it when franchises change to crappier engines. Not to mention Tropico 4 requires a Kalypso account in addition to Steam.

I forgot to mention the positives: The game now imports stuff, which helps through the worst shortages, even if people still starve if you don't have enough food, and factories still sometimes get obsolete if you run out of the basic deposits. The imports then kick in a couple of years later. Also, traffic seems not to be quite as retarded as before.
