Risen 1 and 2 are equally shitty. Don't get why suddenly people dislike the second when they've praised the terrible piece of crap that was the first.

Because the first is fine: a decent modern amalgam of G1 and G2. Got bad at the end but you can just blot that horrible part out of your memory.

Re: Risen 2 -- Amazon price matched. So you can use the coupon code they're offering 'OCTOFUN1' for 25% off and get it for $12.75ish -- activates on Steam.

Not really a deal, but woo.
http://store.steampowered.com/stats/

Xcom peak players 29,000, Dishonored peak players 12,000. More demand for turn based tactics than actiony Thief-likes I guess.
Actually the demand is for Firaxis made shit. Had X-Com been made by Altair I doubt if there's be much more than 5000 peak players. Maybe I'm being a bit harsh because the name carries a sense of 'respected game series classic' even among people that have never played the original. But even so, an X-Com by Firaxis/EA is going to sell a lot more than an X-Com by Altair regardless of quality.

Strap Yourselves In Codex Year of the Donut Codex+ Now Streaming! Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is. Torment: Tides of Numenera Wasteland 2 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
I liked Both Risen and Risen 2, except Risen 2 was entertaining until the end (except final fight), Risen turned from Gothic 2 into shitty dungeon derper halfway through.

Now I feel ripped off for buying HR at $10 and JC2 for like $2! Ah well, Quantum Conundrum is the only other one I'd be remotely interested in and I don't even have Win 7 to play it!

Also Steam's current daily is on Gothic. $5 gets you the bundle of G1, G2, and G3.

Picked up costume quest + stacking in the summer sale, its fun, not long or serious though, more a kids game.

Anyone notice that Gothic series went on sale today? Looks like the current franchise holder is trying to play hardball with Piranha Bytes by trying to cut into their Risen sale using their own games. :retarded:

Costume Quest is a fun little game with jRPG/FF7 like combat Nothing amazing or overly long (maybe six to eight hours including the DLC) but it's very atmospheric and would be cool to fire up around Halloween... when I suspect they might have an even better sale price.

Ummm... Piranha Bytes got the rights back for the Gothic series after Arcania. They are probably rising some cash for themselves.

Still lists Nordic (company that bought Jowood) as the publisher. I've heard the rights reverted back but I've yet to see anything actually confirm that in practice. Perhaps it's just creatively they are free to make another Gothic game and Nordic isn't but they still don't get any revenue from any Jowood/Nordic published titles.

Possibly, but considering that it's now Nordic Games who are publishing the series, is there any evidence to suggest PB get royalties from the sales anymore? My guess is no.

Nice bundle but I have all that crap except for Quantum. Anyone buying that and wants to trade me QC for a Civ 5 steam key?
