Depends what you like more - linear cover shooters with p. good visuals or graphically poor, but rich in substance CYOA/FPS (and the devs would like to add RPG) hybrid. The latter might be 2x shorter than the former, which you can finish over free weekend with beer and hookers as a distraction.

I add this one too.

If you like post apocalyptic setting, like scavenging and want some good tactical game - it's for you. Fuck people writing mixed/negative reviews. It's the only one good russian rpg.

So, Spec Ops vs. Consortium..

Get first if you want cool plot twist and like to see melting "murica fuk yeah!" trope, taste like popamole Heart of Darkness.
Consortium sounds :incloosive: and diversity at first but it not bioware-level of degeneration.
And you missed the day when it was for free....

Also you can only carry two guns at a time if I recall right. I would go so far as to say Spec OPs is the paradigm of the modern AAA shooter:

- Extremely short
- Tedious popamole shooting
- Painfully linear
- Limited guns
- Excessive cinematics
- Terrible cliche story ripped from literature

Only reason I played it was because I got it in some kind of massive 2k bundle for cheap back when Amazon had good download deals. To spend $6 on it alone would be lulz-worthy. Buy some Borderlands 2 DLC or something.

The game's story is weird. I mean, it's your average wannabe pacifism crap, but you kinda know it's been done by people who don't really understand the military or didn't bothered to try to have a different mindset than the one needed to prove their points.
Compare the game with, say, Full Metal Jacket, a movie which is apparently well loved by military people.

Isn't it a trope that all good anti-war movies end up promoting war? Something like that.

They way I understand it, military guys from America love that movie and others like Apocalypse Now because they convey a message about the community and the hardships of the military life. It seems more real than your average Michael Bay production for instance. I don't really think anti war movies promote war, but I think people are wrong when they try to use anti war films as an example of why all wars should end.

looks like Spec Ops was the right choice. Damn, should have picked up Borderlands 2 but I have played the shit out of a pirated version.

If you like Shit Ops, you'll love Shitness 2.
The Darkness 2 was surprisingly playable for a recent console FPS. Stupid, gory fun, I ended up playing thru it for the second time on NG+ whereas I had enough of Hipster Ops after a hour of so.

Darkness 2 is fun, all in all. It's more like an arcadey shooter than a modern fps though. It has more campaigns that you can play with friends if you're bored of the main story.

It's about five hours long, two or three of which are cutscenes. Can't remember if you can adjust the FOV but the default one is like staring up from the bottom of a well. It looks pretty... and that's about the best thing I can say about it.

Yeah, Darkness II was eight minutes long, but I liked the asylum segments and I enjoyed patting myself on the back for
reading all the artifact lore and figuring out your girlfriend is really the Goddess of Fuck.

Spec Ops was pretty great, but for some reason Metro and a few other people are really butthurt about it: http://www.rpgcodex.net/forums/inde...s-the-line-heart-of-darkness-with-guns.73595/

Fractured Space is free on Steam if you add it to your Library until Monday: http://store.steampowered.com/app/310380/
Water Bears, an upcoming game for the Vive can also be gotten for free until then: http://store.steampowered.com/app/394130/
Spec Ops was boring trash even as far as generic cover shooters go. It is praised by the "who gives a fuck about gameplay lol" brigade only for its supposedly good story and TWIST.

Valkyria Chronicles is good if you can stand the blatant and unending animu.

Definitely better than Spec Ops by a mile. :smug:

Spec Ops The Line have better story than Biockock Infinity, so much they made book based on it.
No surprise here.
