The only thing I appreciate about this game is that brown or blue environments are on their way out apparently.

:whatho: 40 hours to complete the main game? it took me a little over 12 hours going in blind. I'm at around 37 now and I'm closing in on 100%.

I haven't read or seen much about The Witness, but I'd thought there would be more variety in the puzzles, or at least a more interesting presentation to them than just having computer screens scattered haphazardly across an island.

His videos seem to get worse and worse. Each one is more phoned in and lethargic than the last. A year from now he'll probably be as bad as Campster.

As for Rainbow Six Siege, the game looked interesting to me but I lost all interest when I heard it's multiplayer only. I was interested in a new tactical shooter, something like the old Rainbow Six games or SWAT 4, but not multiplayer only.

whats wrong with campster

He thought Sunset was good

I mean how HIGH do you even have to be to DOO that?

Campster has some of the worst possible taste in video games. It's almost unbelievable. He's obsessed with Disney Infinity, for example.

Hold on, there are adults that are into Disney Infinity? I thought it was just something to trick kids into buying tons of plastic toys like Skylanders. I have never seen or heard any adult show even the slightest interest in Disney Infinity

It's been at least a year and a half since I watched the video, but I believe his overall impression of it was that it was a good concept for a game that was stifled by the pay to play model of the toys (IIRC, it's not just characters, but a variety of objects and environmental shit that also comes with each toy). This was back in 2013, so I don't know if his opinion's changed since then.

Myst was an adventure game while The Witness is a puzzle game.
What he's really trying to say is that The Witnesses' puzzles suck ass and are just there as blatant obstacles for the player with no payoff.

Also, what is it with these people jumping on games they already know they're not into it? Yeah yeah this is obviously a puzzle game I don't like or care about, but I have to jump on the MUH STORY bandwagon. Is that the thought process? Or do people just have to play and comment on every single game that gains notori- oh, wait. Youtubers. Nevermind. It would be like me playing Blood Bowl for Warhammer Fantasy aspect and then complaining because it's a football game and I don't care about football. Here's a novel idea - I just won't play it.

I have no idea why I felt the need to vent.

The Witness looks absolutely terrible. The puzzles are completely disconnected from the exploration part, like you're just meant to wander around solving puzzles without any other way of interacting with the world, making it window dressing. When you look at the puzzles in isolation it's at the level of a 2$ iPhone game.

They actually are connected. Some of the rules are determined by things in the environment. The world is mostly static, but the visual/level design is important to how the game works because it changes how you can interact with the puzzles.

Videogames have been this "crazy new medium" for more than 20 years now. It's like that thing felipepepe was talking about. Nobody really bothers to study games from a historical perspective, that is, everything is new, everything is different, and nothing has a connection in between. People really have a hard time understanding my reasoning when I say Eye of the Beholder was crucial for Doom's development.

This Firewatch game seems like Gone Home in the woods. A walking simulator where nothing happens, but people are suppose to praise it as mature because it's so dry and dull and because you can pick up random crap and look at it.

Sad thing is that he really knows better, and yet he'll still spew such lines. Another thing is how, even tho he is obviously unimpressed by the game, he does his best to sugarcoat it and present it as a part of some brave, fresh new direction.
