Wasteland 2 is a 50-80 hour RPG in an old-school vein. It's a bigger, more replayable game than just about any triple-A product you can buy, full of real, detailed, unique content instead of time-wasting filler, and hopefully will be enjoyed by fans new and old a decade from now.

sea? More like shill.

That's CD Projekt-esque hype right there. Though keep it up, I'll enjoy the disappointment it brings.

Thriving on schadenfreude is probably a classified psychological disorder.

I was not sure at first but the latest info confirmed that this will be a purchase for me.

What the hell? $45 on gog?
I know it is the deluxe versión but that is simply too much right now $25 would have been instant purchase even $30 but that is simply out of my budget right now...
Uping my pledge of PoE is hurting me more and more

Is like 27$ on certain sites. Use the power of google.

Pricing is a complex thing to arrive at and "cheap as possible" or "expensive as possible" are not the only ways to go. Wasteland 2 is right in line with other RPGs on the market right now of similar budgets/team sizes (Blackguards, Divinity, etc.), and I think the pricing reflects the content and market well.

Wasteland 2 Looks Incredibly Complicated

I played through Fallout 1 and 2 multiple times, but didn't like the squad based complexity of Fallout Tactics. So this latest trailer for Wasteland 2 is bad news for me. The trailer spends several minutes explaining the seemingly infinite options in designing a squad, only to then show how a poorly designed squad will instantly be cut to pieces in the game. It's almost designed to scare players away:

First resply sounds like a Sawyerite.

This one?

"I'm intrigued. On the one hand, "infinite options" and "poor design will cut you to pieces" seems to augur for a "one true correct way to play" false-choice problem that could make the game infuriating in the same way that a game like Knights of the Old Republic or Oblivion are infuriating, because the game's design takes hours of play to reveal that you never had a chance the whole time."

Because that's complete bullshit. I (anybody) could go out of my way to make the worst build possible and I would still be able to beat KotOR on hard. The guy is out of his mind or he never played KotOR.

Yeah, I played Oblivion, too, but I can't remember what the difficulty was (couldn't you just block everything in the game and attack twice, rinse, repeat?). KotOR was seriously braindead easy and boring as fuck.

You earn way more skill points from level ups than you get at char gen in WL2 anyways. If you "waste" some skill points at the very beginning it's not hard to correct.

I actually think that the game gives out too many skill and attribute points during level up. By the time you finish arizona, you will already have leveled up more than one skill and maxed out one attribute easily.

You won't level up as quickly in the final game, I'm pretty sure

They have mentioned that many times on the official forum. It always seemed ill advised to me though. I could sort of understand having accelerated progression during the early days of the beta. But the later versions should have been changed to be closer with how the release version is supposed to be. Instead InXile is going to release into the wild a less vetted version of their progression. Also much of the feedback provided during early access is at least partially invalid.

There's a lot that's going in unvetted. Increased difficulty, possibly a redesigned skill system (to tie the skills into the primary stats). The headshot, of course.

I hope their paid testers are as good as we are.

I believe Infinitron is referring to the fact that we at one point suggested that we would look into capping skill levels with attribute levels. I am not sure right now whether that's in in some form (though I suspect it was considered), but a lot of equipment is capped or limited in some way by attributes (for example, I believe the penalties associated with certain armor depend on your Strength attribute).

Ah, lame. I was hoping that stats would finally affect success %s. Want a 10 STR guy with Brute Force - 1 to be better at it than a 1 STR guy with Brute Force - 1. Not a dealbreaker but oh well. :(
