Fired Witcher 3 up again, this time with a couple of mods. So I wanted to try out the 2 big combat mods (W3EE and Ghost Mode), but reading their feature lists sours me on them every single time.
W3EE tries to make too many changes to what's mostly a pretty damn good game, and I am gonna trust proven developers more than some modder. On top of that, none of the changes he makes are the changes that the game really needs (for example, changing the quest marker/cookie trail system to something better), just a lot of various things with debatable value. And his combat changes, I don't get at all. He whines about how a Witcher shouldn't look like a ballerina in combat, and yet, every single youtube video of W3EE combat I've ever seen, Geralt twirls around even more. The whole thing seems to revolve around manually selecting attack distance, and bending attacks, and quite frankly, that sounds a lot more boring than the vanilla combat.
Ghost Mode sounds more in-line with the actual game, I dunno, didn't feel like changing it that much, because it's hard to say if I would enjoy all the changes or not.
So I went with a different mod, that I think actually addresses the single biggest issue with W3 combat, the fact that enemies don't defend properly. Enemies of Rivia:

It's a simple light-weight mod that just makes enemies dodge/block/counter more. So after you land an attack or two, they start defending, and if you spam attacks, they will even counter you, staggering and doing damage. So this prevents you from spamming the left mouse button, and now you have to actually doge/counter them before landing hits.
Also intalled this:

Playing on Death March of course, and the combat is pretty difficult. The game is absolutely beautiful (on Ultra), and the writing and dialogues are top-notch. Very special experience. Only wish I could do something about the markers/cookie trails, but haven't found any good mods for that yet.
