I'm an old timer. I remember buying DOS-games and having to play the memory allocation mini-game first. If you beat the game, you are rewarded with being able to launch the game. If not...

+1 (stacks, buffers etc.)

DU has to harden the fuck up.

BUT I've encountered a problem with 1.4- after any dialogue the 3d image becomes slightly blurred and stays that way. Anybody got any idea on how to fix it?
Temporarily disable depth of field? Haven't tried but it seems to be connected with this effect.

Yeah, that was my first shot, but no. No graphic option changes this problem.

And yeah, I'm positive you have to have your copy registered before you install the patch.
Skankster- yeah, the loading times ARE better. No idea about dialogues (playing the PL version). There is a good possibility of a graphic glitch though, there will probably be another patch.

I have the Canadian version of The Witcher and Atari FORGOT to print registration keys on the manual. So now I can't register and install the enhanced edition.
Fucking retards.

I remember someone bitching about pauses in the dialogue, they're gone now. I think. I don't really remember them, to be honest.

You would have been just fine if you would have stopped at "This hype is lame"
Why do you lie? That's precisely what I said in the first news post I made about this. Your response was to say "CD Projekt deserve to hype their patch". It's nice to know you've finally come full circle. I guess you just have a funny round-about way of agreeing with me. Does the mere thought of openly coming out and agreeing with me hurt you so much? Deep down inside, there's a little Jeff Graw who's lonely and wanting to be loved. He wants to tell the world "I actually agree with DU" but alas, he can't. He just can't bring himself to cast off his shackles and set himself free. Release yourself brother! Drop the burden you've been carrying so long and open your heart. Let your true feelings come out. Not these false feelings you state because of the shame you hold out of admitting you were wrong in the first place. Brother None and others have already taken the freedom and grasped it with open arms. Do the same and finally set yourself free.

Blah, blah, fucking blah.

I think they should be able to hype their game, even if some of the hype is a bit lame, that's their prerogative (and if they over-hype and under-deliver history shows that, unless your company name is Bethesda, you'll usually pay for it). However, you're missing some serious reasoning skills if you think "You would have been fine if you stopped at "'this hype is lame'" = "I agree with your opinion". Perhaps I don't agree with your opinion but see that argument as something you could pull off without making an idiot out of yourself, ever think of that? And just to clarify, the majority of my first post dealt with your "So, how long before the "we fucked up, so let's re-release a new version" becomes a standard industry treadmill?" bit, so why do *you* lie?

Everybody knows it's happening and it's happening on a level that's simply not acceptable. It's why Stardock have done their <a href="http://www.rpgcodex.net/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=26072">Bill of Rights thing</a>.

Funny you should mention Stardock. Despite their Bill O Rights's gimmick factor they're a company on the right track DRM-wise. But wait, - their entire upgrade scheme relies on USER REGISTRATION! Oh Shit!

Did you notice that 'user' looks painfully similar to 'ussr'?

By registering The Witcher, you register COMMUNISM.

Not to mention their games have bugs too. Oh my! Look, an entire forum dedicated to bugs:
http://forums.galciv2.com/?forumid=274

Anything from random crashes, no music, disappearing pointers, disappearing buttons, display driver failures, black screens, failures to launch, no text, etc. Why? Because maybe you have an nVidia Geforce 6X series card, or have old drivers, run your desktop at below 1024x768 or in 16-bit color, have the nvidia 81.95 drivers, low page file, or maybe your shitty computer overheats. All these examples are taken from the official forums, btw.

Witcher Enhance patch, install in progress

"..it can take even 2 hours". Only 1 hour, 40 minutes left

\edit, 15 minutes later

I'm afraid it's not a joke, it's still running

\edit, another 20 minutes later, this fucking install shield still doing something. What the fuck is this suppose to be? 2 hours for install?

I hope you're not using XPx64, because if you are you have to run it in compatibility mode.
I found out about this a bit too late.

Although I didn't like the original, I gave the EE a go, but didn't play too much as the game runs horribly slow now, and there are even some graphic corruptions.
I was looking forward to play the game with the original script instead of my localized version, but I guess I'll be waiting for the EE^2, witcher uber edition, or whatever they will call it.
The best reaches perfection indeed.

Two fucking hours for a patch to install. Ridiculous. This had better be worth all the hoops I'm jumping through.

I can understand people complaining about this installation shit, but DU's complaints about the registration are still ridiculous.

I just tried it, played for a few hours, and in my opinion the dialogues are better. Nothing spectacular, just better and more polished. Still, I find it much more enjoyable to listen to Polish, even though I don't understand it, while leaving the subtitles in English. That way it has the feeling of a foreign movie with not quite excellent subtitles, but still enjoyable.

Loading times have been severely decreased, no doubt about that.
