That way it has the feeling of a foreign movie with not quite excellent subtitles, but still enjoyable.

Why is everyone agreeing upon translations being lame? Are Witcher's original voiceacting and writing perfect?

After all that wait it won't even start. It just fails straight to the desktop. Whoopee. I guess I'll have to wait another year for the "OMG PLATINUM PERFECT" edition to play it.

Cross your fingers you aren't "rewarded" with nothing but crashes after your ridiculous wait.

I am not impressed.

USA, suck it Polska!
MasPingon, I noticed in your pic that you have other files in the folder with the patch. I think I read yesterday on the official forums that this might cause it to crash. You may have to start over like I did.

I had lots of files in the folder with the patch+language files+adventures and experienced no problems. Everything works nicely for me.

I hear there are some who have had trouble with immediate crashes to desktop upon launching the EE-patched game if EAX is turned on. Might be something to look into, Fez.

Oh dear. I also noticed someone's accent completely changing between lines. Presumably from mixing the two different sessions. It reminds me of Oblivion and its jarring changes in voices where beggars will suddenly talk in the voice of a lord you met not five minutes ago.

I managed to get it to load and run...for a while. The latest is that I've experienced crashes during the occasional transition or loading screen. Wheee.

THE BEST JUST GOT BETTER!!!!!

POLISHED TO PERFECTION!!!!!!

A YEAR IN THE MAKING!!!!!!!

Uh huh.

I've heard so many differen't reports about witcher that I tend to believe darkunderlord. I've seen people say the game has tons of C&C and other say that there weren't much at all. They were kind of extreme too, I think some person earlier in the thread said that it has the most C&C he has ever seen in a game.

I think it might be the poland special forces crew. Can we have special tags for all people from poland so we can know who to trust?

Everything worked fine for me. Installation took an hour, but I just watched an episode of X-files. Loading times seem to be around what I remember, voice acting seems a bit better, and character models look much improved.

That's weird, because just a couple of character models were changed (Jasper, Carmen the whore). Mostly, they just added different coloured textures to the already existing models.

All in all quite dissapointing what I've read so far. Unfortunately I don't have my Witcher copy around right now so I can't give it a try.

I don't know how many of the actual models they reworked, but the textures are improved. You can especially tell with face closeups. Someone posted a comparison picture above, you can easily see the increased texture resolution on the emblem on the preacher's shirt.

Happened to me as well, haha. Taking off the armor and then putting it on again seemed to help.

The Witcher is an interesting game (similar to Gothic) i would like to play someday but the bugs people talk about and the long loading times are a bit too much. Maybe when there's a Witcher version in SoldOut. Yet another potential good game who was crippled by an horrible game engine.

Okey upgrade is long and confusing, but i've tried out my old saves and all works fine, loading times are really shorter now.

So an eastern european game still has bugs and technical problems? MADNESS.

Bet'cha all hate those Troika games.

This Witcher hate is getting out of hand.

Other companies also release bad patches from time to time, but at least they spare us the hype. And they don't re-release their game with the old bugs replaced by new ones.

Would a fanboy please point out why they deserve any respect at all?

So which troika game required 4 hours of downloading (from a polish language website) and installing of patches?

Modern games take lots of space. Did you have a point?

Yeah, most other companies release bad patches. Mostly none re-record voice overs and re-release the game with some extra stuff that you don't have to buy. As for the hype, sure they went overboard - does that make the patches, or the game, worse?
