Boy, if they are selling us a $60 game, sell 2.5 millions of copies, and still bicker about losses... well...
I doubt that they put $150kk in the fucking Tomb Raider. Even if we divide that number by 2 (returning money to the investors, distribution crap and everything), I still doubt that they put that much money in there.
I bet Thief has cost at least 50 million to make so far. It's been in development for years. 100 million is probably closer.
With their 'weapon and clothing' prototypes it can be even more.

Entirely obvious prediction: Erin Whatshername will die during the storyline. She will expire in Garrett's arms regretting her actions, after being shot by some sort of assassin working for the Man. This will fill Garrett with the resolve to take down the Baron.

"Garrett throws a bottle towards a guard's head - during its flight Focus is activated - time slows down - Garrett takes out his bow - aims for a second guard's head - bottle knocks out the first guard - arrow kills the second - and for a grand finale there is a take out sequence for the third guard."
:hmmm:

First the Thief designers say Garrett's haunted by loss, and then they tell us he's both feminine and masculine? Did Garrett have a little more cut off than his eye?

:codexisforindividualswithgenderidentityissues:

Garrett's obsession with the blackjack now makes more sense.

Gallagher demonstrated how Garrett stands in most of his promotional art, and viewers can see glimpses of his fluid, graceful movements in the handful of available trailers: the thief stands with one foot out, crossed at the top of his other foot and taking up a small amount of standing space.

"I've said this before and sometimes people misunderstand me," Gallagher said, "but there's a certain amount of the feminine in Garrett, he represents a lot of both [male and female.] The strength and elegance of the feminine, as opposed to the chest out, legs apart, 'I will save the world' [attitude]. He's not a savior by his own definition.
Well it was obvious from the pictures, but NuGarrett being a metrosexual is now confirmed. :) Good fucking god this whole thing is so utterly bizzare. Admit already EM, you've been reading these here forums for the last months and years and made it your goal to develop the ultimate game to troll the 'dex.
Gallagher thinks women are incapable of sticking their chests out and spreading their legs apart to save the world.

I just want to let this sentiment sink in for a moment.

Hypothetically, If (lol) the game flops, what is the likely fallout/worst case scenario? Eidos gets shitcanned? The developers get blackballed for being useless cunts? Activision buys all the IP and proceeds with Call of Thief 5?

EM as it exists today is pretty much a guaranteed goner, because there is no way an AAA game that has been in development so long will meet their sales targets. Especially when it turns out it is still niche for the ''mainstream audience''.

For doing this to Thief, they deserve the worst fate possible.

I don't disagree, but more was trying to say if it bombed there's a chance they'd close down another studio to save money and keep EM going because of the french canadian dollars.

Remember, Thief and Deus Ex are different teams. If this sucks as badly as it seems then eliminate Thief team. Keep Deus Ex team. Human Revolution was good. Thankyougoodnight.

Considering how long this game has been in development it probably needs to sell 50 million copies to break even, it will flop and a ton of people will get shitcanned.

From what someone was saying a few pages back about the conditions inside Eidos Montreal that sounds very probable. But I still have a tiny amount of pity for the members on that team who may have joined the project in the naive hope that they would be making a sequel to a game series they loved. But it should make for some interesting stories come the first round of firings and rage quits from the studio early in the new year.
