Garrett's comments often pointed out elements of the environment or provided information on level objectives, and the hints were strong enough that the player wouldn't have had to figure out much on their own. Windfeld Schmidt clarified that the clip was taken from a demo of Thief that was intended for members of the media, which is why Garrett gave out so many hints in his narration.
So devs think that journalists are so dumb, they need lots of hints to pass even a demo level. Can't fault the devs though, journalists are probably like that.
I feel like the article is misinterpreting the comment. More likely it's from an old demo outright, and he was trying to say "it will change because, you know, it's old." I really doubt Eidos would be so short-sighted as to imply that the press are morons.

They are just straight up lying here. No company, even Eidos, is going to greenlight a voice acting budget for clips that will never be used outside of a promotional slice. That's literally just pouring money down the drain.

Pretty sure now they just want to chuck this thing out the door and hope they break even. Risky, though, reviews are getting more and more expensive...

Nobody buys reviews. You are forgetting that people writing reviews are the same people who bought their first gaming system - xbox360 only 2 years ago.

Do you expect them to have any clue? Plus game reviewers are usually students who haven't gotten a real job yet and thus write for websites for unstable salary.

^I've read a few previews since I was curious to see what the press stance about this reboot was(since for some reboots they are cocksucking all changes no matter what while in other instances they are negative about it...I guess one stance or the other gives more or less hits depending on the game?).In fact I've often read the stance "I've never played the originals" or "I played only Deadly Shadows on Xbox".Still they aknowledged there was fans negativity.Evidently that should give more hits this time.

So... no more XP!

Now could they please ditch focus and prompts?

Shame it changes absolutely nothing in the big picture. But just like kazgar says, this line below puts into perspective just how badly cobbled together the game really is.

At first, we wanted to outline the progression of the player with XP, but it was reducing our motivation to steal.

And it took them this late into development to figure it out? Sheeeeiiiit.

Fallout 3. One is pretending they know the the IP, thus undermining it in the grand scheme. Their only redemption is handing the spin-off to Obsidian. The other show that they don't know what they are doing, so there is only truth, no lies. Even the product sucks, I'll forgive them. They should also give the spin-off to Obsidian. I want the master thief to have magical invisible ability (just like in Alpha Protocol).

It's like c&c between death from endless diarrhea and waking up in Monday morning with awareness of incoming birth from you underback.

My bet is nuThief - at least F3 (and any beth turd) can be patched with some mods to make it somewhat playable. Nothing can save Carrot.

To be fair, if that polygon article was correct they've only been working on the actual game for about 8 months.
