I have a feeling that this stuff is less and less funny with each day.
"The melee systems is, on purpose, not very good," said Schmidt. Immediately realizing this phrasing might be a PR no-no he explained that it's a simple system and not a ton of fun. The aim is to discourage a blood and guts playstyle because it is the antithesis of what Thief as a game, and Garrett as a character, stands for.
So they want to to discourage blood and guts play style...yet offer XP for headshots ?
http://www.dualshockers.com/2013/10/12/nycc-2013-story-and-gameplay-mechanics-revealed-in-the-thief-panel/Are there any other sources to confirm that there won't be xp? I'm finding that hard to believe.
It's the only one I've found.Might be because it's a recent change.Still, what Infinitron said.Items, such as keys from careless guards, can be swiped quickly. There is no experience system, however; instead you can earn gold to purchase new gear such as wire-cutters and different kinds of arrows.
Have they hardcore'd up the game at the last moment out of a hysteria that it'll completely flop?
Whatever, it won't help with the jumping and the map design.
I believe there was no word on it. Expect typical hardcoded popamole-console file extensions, making everything way harder to actually touch or mod.Has there ever been any word on moddability of this game? I'm assuming no support, but if it could be modded, then something may yet be salvaged out of this.
So devs think that journalists are so dumb, they need lots of hints to pass even a demo level. Can't fault the devs though, journalists are probably like that.Garrett's comments often pointed out elements of the environment or provided information on level objectives, and the hints were strong enough that the player wouldn't have had to figure out much on their own. Windfeld Schmidt clarified that the clip was taken from a demo of Thief that was intended for members of the media, which is why Garrett gave out so many hints in his narration.
They're being very specific about this. Sure melee might be tough, but it doesn't matter when you can shoot someone in the face with your bow at point blank range. The actual melee combat system is very difficult to utilize, in order to discourage players from relying on it.

Aren't you a gaming journalist? You should feel insulted. So devs think that journalists are so dumb, they need lots of hints to pass even a demo level. I don't consider myself a journalist. I'm just a guy who writes his opinion about games, and there are some suckers who pay me for that. :D I hold the journalist career in a higher regard than to compare myself to the real journalistsAren't you a gaming journalist? Yes, also a true journalist wouldn't be afraid to ask tough questions from a publisher in an interview, instead of nodding to everything.Gaming journos are not journalists.
Just compare those tards to recent AMD presentation that showed true journos. Whatever AMD presented they were just recording silently like they were doing a job or something.
Whereas in gaming whenever a PR guy says or shows anything no matter how bad it is retards just go ZOMG CUM ON MY FACE PLEASE CUM AGAIN WOWOWOWOWOW

Looks like they're doing control damage backpedaling.
