Why is Garrett wearing eyeliner?
To stand out in a crowd, saying "I'm a badass master thief assassin with emotional issues".

Never got into the Thief franchise,it was just one of thoughs games i never got around too... Ill have to fix that with this release
This post pisses me off because i know this guy is using the word franchise in a console sense. You see lots of console franchises started on the NES and their gameplay usually doesn't change much between installments (fanboy would rage otherwise) so it doesn't matter what game you choose first to "get into" the franchise. Thief however DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY. You CAN NOT get into it by starting with thief 4, because unlike console franchises where the gameplay somewhat got better in NES>SNES>PS1>PS2 evolution (fanboy nostalgia goggles notwithstanding) Thief is a "oldie but goodie" type of series where further you go back better games you get.

Garret is now less "gothic" and more mainstream "For the modern audience of today's console market."

Hahahahaaaahaaaaargh. Fuck you, Eidos. Fuck you.

...
.....
........

Not unexpected though, its safe to assume Thief 4 is going to be like something Assassins Creed now...
Another one bites the dust :/

Oh wait no we didn't.

I bet he sparkles in the sunlight.

But Jesus, no man. In Thief 1 Garret went on jobs because he had to pay the rent. Why must modern games fuck everything up by being about vengeance and EMOSHUNS and stuff?

Garrett was an odd sausage in the original Thief games, an orphan turned thief turned betrayer that lost an eye. He preferred not to kill, although he did.

:hmmm:

Why don't they make a new character? On one hand they go on about how iconic Garret was and on the other they essentially scrap all of his character for whatever they think is cool with the retarded new audience. Nevermind that they're lazy fucks who can't come up with their own setting, can't they at least show some fucking respect to the original developers works and make a new character? Disgusting hacks.

So are takedowns confirmed? I saw something about it on Softpedia but whoever wrote the article must be dumb as fuck because they think Ubisoft is making the game.

I mean, it got so bad for me with Dishonored that I only beat around two missions of the game and gave up (not because it was bad, but because the numerous options for approaching a mission overwhelmed me).

Yeah, I can see the problem here. Use sneaking or kill anything in sight. And considering the console friendly level design it's really sad. Probably many of those guys wouldn't even finish first mission in Thief.

The shoulder pad itself is completely nonsensical, though, whether it's spiky or not.

Dude they wouldn't even find the way into Bafford's manor.

Or are you referring to the tutorial? :smug:

:smug: indeed. Here I am pressing "New Game" and after that I am in some dark place with no bloom. As I'm standing patiently nothing appears on my screen. Where are the text prompts, what to do, where to go exactly? And tutorial in seperate segment of my game? Preposterous! I'm not judging the whole console players, but statement like the quoted one aren't giving any opportunity to defend themselves. And the lenght in time of missions, like 1 hour minimum for me; it really can't be done in this time and demographic conditions.

Same reason Donte, Agent 47 and Lara croft got the Reimagining rapestick, they are really that fucking incompetent that they cannot into original ideas, cant even make a new character so just hijack an existing IP with already established main character and then give them a beating with the mainstream dumbfuck stick to turn them into generic hero #55437 but this time with EMOSHUN!!!

In short, fucking useless hacks raping an existing product because they are incompetent lackwits that havent an original concept in their vapid cavernous empty heads making facile games for the mainstream dumbshit casual console(optional) cattle to hopefully move up the food chain from dev to exec where they can do no work and take all the credit.

Replaying Thief Gold (CBF installing my TDP disc) from Steam with DDFix at 1920 x 1080, game looks a bit dated but still plays well, I should grab a texture pack but ill keep with it for a while. I could possibly forgive all the dumbshit comments and apparent idiotic design decision if they were to have the same difficulty as Thief. Easy = Objective, Medium = Objective, Some gold, Dont kill Servants/Non combatants, Hard = Objective, Steal most of the golds (or all of the things), Dont kill anyone, Secret bonus points for not being seen/detected at all/using super special ninja godmode powers. Then watch as all the CoD endless corridors press X to cutscene casual fucks cry rivers on the forums because they cant be the bestest super awesome dude with all the achievments unlocked and have to engage brain to play.

That wont happen though, and it makes me sad.

It can, it's called "Kickstarter" and "saying the right things to the Thief community to get those funds coming".

But who's got the talent to replicate what Thief 1 and 2 did? The brains behind the originals have scattered about.
