Dude they wouldn't even find the way into Bafford's manor.

Or are you referring to the tutorial? :smug:

I can just imagine watching them play the Bonehoard. Dropping into the underground, uncharted tunnels and getting raped by those things that spit the acid. That would be remarkably funny to see.

But who's got the talent to replicate what Thief 1 and 2 did? The brains behind the originals have scattered about.
Or worse, they aren't as brainy as they used to be. Go ahead, guess who was the writer for Thief 1.
I don't know, I think he can still make something good close to Shock 2 if he didn't have to sell games to large audiences.

I've never been very good at stealth games either but I am genuinely excited for this game. My problem with stealth games is I get all OCD and try to go back and try another way that'll get a different outcome. I mean, it got so bad for me with Dishonored that I only beat around two missions of the game and gave up (not because it was bad, but because the numerous options for approaching a mission overwhelmed me).

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Back in the days pedestrians weren't enfranchised to influence culture and be taken into consideration with uninformed opinions and ignorance of some basic rules. It was just so much better.

So the developers basically looked at Hitman Absolution and said 'hey, there's a decent franchise that got fucked up for the lulz, let's do the same with another franchise.'

Seriously, they're ripping out everything that made Thief a good game. I fail to believe it's anything but a very expensive attempt at trolling, because certainly nobody can be retarded enough to rip out the features that make a game great.

Why don't they make a new character? On one hand they go on about how iconic Garret was and on the other they essentially scrap all of his character for whatever they think is cool with the retarded new audience. Nevermind that they're lazy fucks who can't come up with their own setting, can't they at least show some fucking respect to the original developers works and make a new character? Disgusting hacks.

Same reason Donte, Agent 47 and Lara croft got the Reimagining rapestick, they are really that fucking incompetent that they cannot into original ideas, cant even make a new character so just hijack an existing IP with already established main character and then give them a beating with the mainstream dumbfuck stick to turn them into generic hero #55437 but this time with EMOSHUN!!!

In the upcoming AAA blockbuster GOTY "Robber (tm)" you play the role of master-thief/robber Gerald, who goes about stealing everything in sight in the seedy, grimy city only known as "The Town" (potentially replace with "The Metropolis" to sound more epic). In a Victorian-inspired steampunk setting filled with decadent nobles, corrupt police and religious zealots called "The Wrenchites", he sets out to seek the satisfaction of a heist well done. But there are evils hidden in the dark underbelly of The Town/Metropolis (tm) that threaten not just Gerald, but the entire city. Will he prevail in the face of this ancient evil?

There. New IP. They are anyway changing everything that made Thief what it was, they can just as well change the last few remaining things (the names).

:smug: indeed. Here I am pressing "New Game" and after that I am in some dark place with no bloom. As I'm standing patiently nothing appears on my screen. Where are the text prompts, what to do, where to go exactly? And tutorial in seperate segment of my game? Preposterous! I'm not judging the whole console players, but statement like the quoted one aren't giving any opportunity to defend themselves. And the lenght in time of missions, like 1 hour minimum for me; it really can't be done in this time and demographic conditions.
Weren't some people (sorry, "people") playing press demo of Dishonored just standing there going :retarded: because the guards told them to not go upstairs so they didn't?

Seriously, some people out there are only good for a landfill.

Saw this and had a sperg moment
therefore, if you want a 100% authentic, ABSOLUTELY true to the original experience, TFix (NewDark) is probably not a good choice for you. TFix (NewDark) is for those who "just want to play nicely, with as little hassle as possible".
so I went for ddfix instead.

Don't know what those changes are, but from this sentence here:
if you are one of those who can't live without rope death bug, or complain that "burricks now spit out six gas puffs instead of five"
I assume that they are probably nothing major, 'cept for Spergies. I'll use the new patch for now.

It can, it's called "Kickstarter" and "saying the right things to the Thief community to get those funds coming".

I would like to share your optimism JarlFrank but how many FPS kickstarters did we seen? Only Tacticool Shooter by a Halo guy (roffles) and Ravaged (which seems to be decent multiplayer game, but has no campaign in single). Other than that I saw bad, and very bad : clone of DayZ wannabe (not funded), PVP games with generic soldiers and/or zombies, Interstellar Marines and that's it. If people could make a team of programmers which would try to copy some old FPS-es, I would gladly point to them. But right now it's like abandoned genre. When you don't see something in veins of Blood, Doom or Duke Nukem, how they would kickstart a game with sneaking mechanics. And of course make it more complicated.

Yes, focus testing revealed that the game is too complicated. This thing butchered the gameplay of Bioshock, if I remember correctly.

There was Sir You Are Being Hunted (I'm not sure if this is first or 3rd person), and Consortium (which failed pretty hard).

"A Thief-style visibility-meter combined with our own foliage-based stealth system." I heard about it, but of course forgot to mention .

Funny thing about Consortium video pitch, that they had a t-shirt with Amen:The Awakening. The Fps/Rpg mix with stealth mechanics by Cavedog was too big and ambitious at the time.

Sir You Are Being Hunted is first person. Also funded with most stretch goals.
I didn't pay too much attention to it because the shameless self promotion on RPS turned me off. It does look interesting though.

They might as well make this game a porno. That way at least we can also see our beloved franchise getting fucked, not just experience it.
