What do you mean "even if that was true"?

So deep in your "we hate it until it comes out" mode you forget little details like Eidos saying original Deus Ex was a dull game? But I guess that was true seeing all the circlejerk to Invisible War 2.

tldr; it's not Thief but we predict calling it so will earn us ~30 bucks more, so it makes commercial sense.

I've read that beams of wood need a 'button' to get off of them. :smug:
As in, you literally can't accidental fall :smug:

Oh man, the lack of proper lean bums me out. I usually hate the systems where you stick to a corner or whatever.

a game that would have been style over substance if it hadn’t been so packed full of substance, or substance lacking style if it hadn’t been the most stylised fantasy/steam-punk hybrid in existence.
Rock, paper, shotgun, a site that would have been all pretentiousness if it didn't have blank space, and all blank space if it didn't have pretentiousness.

Third-person combat, context-sensitive lean... That sounds an awful lot like an action game to me, Eidos.

Yeah, you can't navigate on a narrow beam with a controller. Fuck this game.

Re: Thief 4 vs DX:HR, Admiral jimbob said it a year ago:

Nope. I did like HR for what it was, but I didn't see any indication in it that the developers were able or willing to fully break away from "next-gen" trappings in order to make a Thief game. Deus Ex is very much a jack-of-all-trades game; stealth, FPS, smatterings of RPG and Adventure. Somehow, it worked; none of the elements in it were particularly "deep" in isolation, but they came together to make something much greater than the sum of its parts. HR juggled all of those elements as well, some better than others. The result was a disjointed product that managed to come out decent enough. Thief, on the other hand, is a very pure experience; they need to show dedication to a narrower, deeper gameplay style developed with a cohesive vision in mind if they're going to convince me. So far, they've done the opposite.

Garrett spends more time climbing than he has previously, which leads to the already-maligned third-person viewpoint when he attaches to a wall. It was rarely used in the demonstration and explained away with a slightly apologetic shrug, ‘in first-person, you’d only be able to see the wall right in front of you’.

Derpers gotta derp. With rope arrows you could look wherever you wanted to look. In first-person. No one complained. In Thief 3, however, we had the climbing gloves, and using those SEVERALY hampered what you could see. And yet, they base their decisions, once again, on the worst possible example of many.
Couldn't you just look up while climbing the wall?

Oh right, gamepads. :x

I tried to read a few threads in the official forums but it's so full of apologists and drones I can't stand reading anymore.

To think I'm even used to the bsn:retarded:

Over there.
I read the "Thank you letters to Stephen Russell" thread. If I were Romano what's-his-nuts and I read that, I'd feel like complete shit. Maybe it's not his fault for taking the job, but still... I hope he does.

I prefer the Dark Project version over Gold. The additional missions are IMO still more or less an afterthought and drag the storyline of perfect pacing and length. Plus Lost City atmosphere was ruined.
+1!

To be honest I thought I was the only one who saw it that way.

Also,
Whats the hardon for thief 2 anyway? Apart from life of the party, there is not much things in T2 that stand up against Thief Gold.

The biggest offender with Gold is that the Bonehoard is lit like a christmas tree, while it was really dark as fuck in The Dark Project in comparison. I still think Gold is an improvement over The Dark Project, but let's face it, both versions are absolutely fucking mindblowingly good.
