Jesus H, man. Wouldn't it be nice if hiver had a volume knob? (But for retardation instead of volume?)

How about comparing it with W2 instead since that's what they'd have if they did 3D?
W2 art is currently more detailed, better textured and lighted then this. No wonder since its much further in production but... you pulled it.

And that organic look in 3D? No way.
Eh? Wut? Mesh-geometry models+Texturing? wut? o_O

I think the big issue is just the lighting. Right now... I'm not too sure what is going on with that. But I think it is just a first draft, so not really anything to go bananas about.

The only ones who are going bananas are the circlejerking dumbasses here.

Im basically saying - "look, it will look even better".

In case someone didn't notice, the background of the screenshot is blurred part of the Bloom concept art:

That's one of the issues with the screenshot feeling imperfect right now. The background doesn't really fit, it's blurred just to make it less noticeable.

Mesh-geometry models+Texturing?

 Really? Do you have a tutorial for that? Is it like painting is canvas + brushes? I can't u
What.. you think this mockup is hand painted? this is 3D with usual textures.

Its the usual fing process. The PE shot is handpainted over the 3D textures... ffs..

Jesus fucking christ you are a monumental imbecile.

A hint: googling "how to make 3d imaeg???" doesn't turn you into a sudden expert, but into a moron who pretends to understand things way above his level.

What the fuck googling has to do with anything you cheap retard?

Im talking about how the devs who have the necessary knowledge and skills do it, you shitbrain moron.
Thats basically how you build environments. Its just the very basics pretty much everyone knows.
I didnt say "i can do it" - are you even sane you stupid shit?

You came in and claimed "organic look" cannot be done in 3D.

Really rads? Is that so? What am i pretending?

Maybe you - being such an expert on such a level could explain it to me then?

Do. Lets see it.

Unpleasant little bastard, isn't it

I actually like that background there. Good find as to what part of the concept art it is though.
It gives a sense of depth and it would be great to have more of it like that. (though maybe not that blurred ofc)

I would prefer to walk across that bridge with area around and below it being visible and "moving" separately from the one where my character is. And to walk over the Bloom as a whole.
Instead of being teleported to a small "entrance"- then enter another small room through a loading screen - then another, and so on.
Inner sections could be separate of course, but if so i would still hope less constrained.

That screen looks pretty great. I am sure once they unblur the back drop behind the screen and add in some animations/effects, it should look much better. I think the reason the PE released screen got a bit more positive feedback is because it had alot of crisp little details (leaves, cobblestones, cracked statues, etc) and, of course, the promise of animated water. This is all stuff that looks just as good if not better in 2D rather than 3D when 2D is done right. The Torment screen as alot of amorphous details that look nice but not especially crisp or angular enough to show the benefits of going the 2D route. They should have released a screen from a city that had a few spiky/curvy buildings and archways with cobbled streets that are crowded with random refuse and the like.

Still, I am impressed. The game will look good. Once they release the animated screen, that should help push them in that final surge at the end of the KS. They better make it nice.

Dexter, this is one of those times where it is really important to read the last few posts before posting yourself.
I don't care, just happy they decided on Pre-Rendered 2D, even though there's obviously a lot of room for improvement (that texture work doesn't look "final" by any yardstick), but they wrote in the Update that it's pretty much a "weekend" sprint thing over a pack of doritos.
They can bring the animation of the fleshy components for all I care! Also, if you look at the concept work, there's various of those in all different kinds of shapes and sizes.

Holy shit! The Codex has been crying like spoiled children for 2D background from he beginning of the campaign. You attacked people in the comments. You voted like mad in the stretch goal poll. You demanded 2D background as being the final drop of incline that can physically be squeezed out of this Kickstarter campaign. And when Fargo says "Sure, let's do it. It will be harder, more expensive, but if you want it, we're gonna do it.", you're response is "it's too brown"?

Really? What the fuck is wrong with you people? Do you hate being happy? FUCK!

Shit graphics are shit graphics, regardless of 2D or not.

Personally, I think it looks fine as a draft or whatever, but with a budget of 4 million and a team of professionals, they better come up with something better by the time of final release.
