The 2D background basically made the entire game of Torment. They would be crazy to do this in 3D.

Project Eternity could very well become the best-looking game ever if they come near that conceptual screenshot they assembled.

If they manage to match ToEE, which in my opinion is the loveliest looking isometric CRPG, I'll certainly be impressed.

Me too. But Shadowrun does look a lot better.

I don't particularly mind the art direction of Shadowrun Returns, and am a backer. I just like to get a rise out of Roguey from time to time while he engages in his daily hobby of trashing Wasteland 2. Presumably it's a form stress relief for him—a sort of counteractant to his pathetic Josh Sawyer sycophancy and fervent belief that Project: Eternity will be the best and most perfect cRPG ever developed. Deep down, he must realize that his dreams may be crushed even if P:E is a good game, because by his own account no cRPG ever made has lived up to his autistic expectations. I backed P:E as well ($250 for the signed collector's edition; it's going on eBay if it's shit), but... yeah.

I have a feeling the Kickstarter will do rather well. I'm expecting it to get funding between 2 - 3 million.

Assuming they ask for 1 million, that 2 to 3 times the asking. That's "rather well", I'd say.

"Variations on this question also asked by Rehvenge4 and Manaf82.] This is an important question. We are looking to create a style/feel that is reminiscent of PS:T, but we’re still exploring what approach we’ll use. The answer will depend in part upon what funding level we reach with Torment – we are looking into various options and their required resources so that we can have realistic goals (and make realistic promises) for the game’s art. (While of course we want to make the game look as great (and “Torment-y”) as possible, we’re not going to shelve the project if we aren’t able to afford the graphical approach we would all really want.)
:hmmm:

Those plebeians don't even nest their parentheses mathematically—the game will be shit. :smug:

"Looking Torment-y" is now an official phrase, as well as a stretch goal. :smug:

It's well that there are a few good men like Hiver around who think for themselves rather than passing out from a fangasm every time a classic cRPG or celebrity developer gets name-dropped. :smug:

I just finished my fourth glass of wine and am headed to bed. I'll want to delete this post tomorrow but will be unable to. :smug:

But that's basically how all stretch goals work. If you're an emotional engagement-tard, you might have been pissed at Obsidian for holding companions hostage in PE's stretch goals.

Might have pledged if they had held off on the kickstarter until AFTER WL2 was nearly done.

Getting publishers out of the loop has it consequences. You can get games they would never fund, but you also have to pay for their creation.

Vote for "Delay the Crowdfunding Campaign" on their suggestion site then.

In the end, you need to ask yourself - do I want a new Torment game, yes or no?

People are thinking about Wasteland 2 now because they know nothing about Torment:ToN, but hopefully that will change.

I did not wait for Wasteland 2 to come out to pledge for PE, and I don't want ToN to start late and with a crippled team. So I'll most likely back it without a second though.

I don't see any reason to trust Fargo and co less now than when they launched W2.

Many people have conceptions on what Kickstarter is for. Some may see this as milking the goodwill of the backers.

If MCA is too busy with P:E to join Torment, what makes you think that Ziets will be available?

Because he's not as busy. He's a contractor, working from home. MCA has many responsibilities at Obsidian in addition to working on PE.

There was some talk at the end of the campain that Ziets might join Obsidian permanently. Any news on that front? Roguey ?

But that is what Kickstarter is for.

Yeah some people will put made-up moral standards on kickstarter when in the end it's just a way to put developers and gamers in relation. Good luck Brother None, making idiots seeing past their own vision of the "kickstarter spirit".

You know that not everybody has a Something Awful account, you piece of shit dumbass?
They put up and take off the paywall-to-view randomly. Eventually it'll go down and you'll be able to see that post for yourself if you're so inclined.
