If I could bring back any cancelled game.hmmmmm. I would probably say Meantime. It was a time traveling RPG that we had set up to do after Wasteland. The reactivity made my brain hurt.
I could see them moving on to new IP after they've re-established themselves with Wasteland 2 and Torment. I'd love to see a more original property from them in the future.

The good thing about stories with historical settings is that you can't easily copyright them. Nobody owns a trademark on Cyrano de Bergerac or Amelia Earhart.

If Herve somehow still owns the rights to Meantime, it wouldn't be a problem to create a game with the same concept under a different name.

I can't really think of all that many time travel RPGS, besides Chrono Trigger of course. Would be interesting to see that concept played out.

I can kind of see both sides, but don't see a 3rd one.

Unless he recently bought another IP Roguey hasn't found out about yet.

Really not trying to be edgy here, but isn't it a bit too early talking about a third game/IP when not a single one is released yet?

He doesn't need to. By the time Torment is in production W2 will be out, so people will know if inXile can deliver or not. Also there is Shadowrun and maybe even P:E will be out. Assuming they are good, the backers will know that these kind of games CAN be made again. So i don't think there will be a problem for Obsidian or inXile to create a new IP.
After all i think Obsidian said that after P:E there is still Avellone's pitch for a kickstarter before P:E 2.
Did you guys read the "Hidden" pitch he made? I can easily imagine something like that to gather millions from backers.
Fargo propably will market the whole thing "bah, we are better than the evil publisers. We won't turn out sequel after sequel. We are creative"

I always thought that Bard's Tale will be the next game InXile does. Fargo seems to have a cushy relationship with the Evil Empire so I just assumed he would go back to Bard's Tale?

Yeah since he does own that IP. Still If he does another game, I wish it was SCI-FI.

He'll go with what will bring in the most money and that would be Bard's Tale. Nostalgia and a known property works best with KS. I would get very excited over a BT game as long as it was 1st person party, dungeon crawler, and TB combat. It's different enough from both W2 and Torment presentation and gameplay wise that I would love for them to go there. Wizardry-like combat would be great.

Not to mention to keep the team whole they have to make a game after game - 1.5 production and all that. Before Torment is finished they have to start work on a new game.

The Bard's Tale...IN SPACE?

Quick, let's file for the trademark ourselves first and then use it as a hostage to get turn based everything.

Exactly how fleshed out is the Numenera setting thus far? Do we know if space or time travel as possible with all that future tech for example?

I was just thinking that I haven't heard a word about the Codex raising funds for this. What's up with that? I mean DarkUnderlord hated the idea of P:E but still did a fundraiser and Torment seems much more positively accepted by the Codex. What say you Jaesun, Infinitron, Grunker, Crooked Bee, etc.?

Fairly sure something is in the works, theres a thread about it in the feedback forum.
