I'm dreading turn times btw. The combined 1, 2, and 3 map is going to have, what, 200+ minor factions? More? Terrifying.
That's number of factions in Rome II total war. It ran smooth on my PC without any problem.

Another review that is quite underwhelmed by the whole thing. Small rosters, brain dead AI, poor performance, UI is downgraded, balance issues and lots of bugs (34:40).
Also shits on CA for having WH1 factions (not races) in the game and have them be not playable, which is a fair point, but I guess we got to push that WH1 and WH2 as DLCs stuff.
Basically good for what it is and should have been delayed again lol.

....I already got it on Fanatical for -25% :negative:.

They kept WH2 price high without any major sale for a long time. That's probably the best price you can get unless you want to wait a year and a half.

Yeah I'm not seeing a sale for a minimum of a year with TWW3. There's no reason for it, TWW2 is consistently a top seller even now, the hype for this game is big.

If you're waiting for a sale, fine, but be prepared to wait a long time. I'm thinking Christmas is the earliest it will go on sale.

CA can't do proper wargames. It simplified so much and catered so much for multiplayer, they have a product instead of a wargame.

Final, awesome game in the realm of Warhammer Fantasy Battle since Dark Omen, i only hope after all dlcs and addons they start making Warhammer 40k TW.

There's plenty of 40k games, but there's never going to be a Total War 40k. The massive over-emphasis on ranged simply doesn't translate well to the TW battles.

RE: Small rosters - when has that ever been a problem for a TW Warhammer fan? You use 3-4 units per faction at most either way.

If they had a real engine like what Eugen has they'd be fine. Warscape is complete AIDS however.

the addition of outposts constructed in your cities, allowing you to recruit their troop types. So yes, your Kislev army can include dwarven artillery, lizardman dinosaurs and even bloody ratling guns, if you’re some kind of genius.
wtf is this?

Of course the rosters are small, there is DLC to be sold.

Reminder not to buy any DLC and use API unlockers instead.

RE: Small rosters - when has that ever been a problem for a TW Warhammer fan? You use 3-4 units per faction at most either way.

Frankly the rosters don't seem that small. When you look at the WH1/2 factions on the skirmish mode interface half the units have an RoR duplicate and the "biggest" factions have a dozen campaign exclusive units which are either effectively a 2nd RoR or just a slightly different flavor of the same hero. The main point seems to be that chaos has a few duplicates.

Tzeentch, excluding lords/heroes, I count 14 different units on that skirmish screen. Empire when you remove RoR and Campaign units has 27. But a huge amount of those are near-duplicates still. Archers vs. Crossbowmen vs. Marksmen, who cares, hiring archers only save you like 5 turns making a quick army but past that you use crossbowmen the whole game for that role. Same for the dozens of empire cavalry that are slightly different flavors of suck until you get to the good one. It's a reduced size roster for sure but it doesn't seem to have any screaming lack of units like Skaven did before they got their weapon teams DLC. People forget that before every single DLC gave skaven the most OP lords, units, and campaign mechanics that they were worthless dogshit whose best units were... rat ogres?

CA just learned the lesson that expansive rosters aren't needed when people are just going to use the same 3-4 units each time. Anyway, listening to reviews makes me think the game a) unfinished and b) quite disappointing. Which isn't surprising, I had no expectations for this. CA aren't willing to engage with the actual gameplay problems, they just add more bells and whistles that try to distract you from them. It doesn't work. The siege "rework" is laughable at best.

classic old school warhammer. Back in the days when you could be all "Yes that's right, My Orc army has a demon of Khorne as an ally"

tl;dw on the Legend review: Minor settlement sieges good, major settlement sieges bad and buggy. Campaign story mechanics shit and annoying, Be'Lakor pretty damn useless as a lord.

I have to say I also really dislike the minimalist vector UI, aside from the readability issues of red on red, a criticism I didn't see was lack of general decorations on the UI. I fail to understand why they went this route, when Shogun 2 for example has a very thematic UI that fits the campaign. If anything Warhammer's UI should be opposite of minimalist vector, there should be plenty of baroque decor. Gone are the days of UI like warcraft 3 that is not built for minimalism as priority. I hate this cargo cult of minimalism that seeped so hard into game design, especially in games that are not FPS and there is no issue with the UI elements taking slightly more space on the edges. You are not designing a mobile app for a bank for fucks sake, you are designing UI in a visual medium, it should fit the game more than just the color scheme.

The new factions seem extremely bland. Like, all of them. If you like playing Barbie's Dress-Up, you might appreciate chaos undivided, but I don't see the appeal of any other faction. There are so many factions now that they've started to cannibilize each other's mechanics on top of them all being shockingly samey anyway.

There is a reason why those factions were dead.
